Glynco, Georgia

Can someone check to see if Glynco, Georgia is a real town? I live very near that area and I don't think it is really a town. Bubba73 (talk), 23:46, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Bubba, I just checked and Glynco does in fact exist, according to http://georgia.hometownlocator.com/ga/glynn/glynco.cfm Reb (talk) 02:42, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
It is listed there, but there is no city limits sign that I've ever seen and no government. Google Earth doesn't find it either. Bubba73 (talk), 02:49, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
I've been there. You can find it at MapQuest. It in the airport area. -- Absolon S. Kent (talk) 15:56, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
But I live just a few miles from there and I never knew it was a town. My wife says the same thing. I checked the zip code and got this reply:

31524 (GLYNCO, GA IS NOT ACCEPTABLE - USE BRUNSWICK) (UNIQUE)

and it explains "Not Acceptable" as:

"Not Acceptable – Means an inadequate city name has been entered or received based on information entered."

and for "unique" it says: "Unique – The ZIP Code™ is used for a specific company or organization. "

So that is the zip code for FLETC only. Bubba73 (talk), 16:13, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

I think it is classified as an Unincorporated area much like White Bluff or Sandfly in Savannah. A quick Google search comes up with several entries including the FLETC, the airport, and Naval Air Station Glynco. -- Absolon S. Kent (talk) 16:31, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
The Naval Air Station is no longer there. The "Glynco Naval Air Station" was started in WW II. FLETC uses that land, and some of it probably went to the airport, which is next to FLETC. So Glynco is FLETC and maybe the airport. I'm pretty sure there are no residents of Glynco, GA. Bubba73 (talk), 16:44, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
The US Census has no lsting for Glynco, GA and it has no data for the 31524 zip code. Bubba73 (talk), 16:53, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
From FLETC web site: "The FLETC Glynco campus is located equidistant between Savannah, GA, and Jacksonville, FL. The Center is actually a town unto itself with its own zip code (31524). It is known as Glynco, GA, and is located on the northwestern edge of Brunswick, GA." Source: www.fletc.gov. -- Absolon S. Kent (talk) 17:19, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I've seen that. But the USPO says don't use Glynco, use Brunswick. The US Census doesn't list Glynco and shows no residents in the 31524 zip code. That name is just a hang-over from the Glynco Naval Air Station. It isn't really a "town" in the usual sense of the word. That website was probably written by some employee of FLECT, most of whom just pass through, and they didn't know any better. Bubba73 (talk), 17:28, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
I guess I'm missing why this is so important to you. If it were me I would simply rewrite the Glynco, Georgia article to reflect that it is an unincorporated part of Brunswick and the former Naval Air Station. If someone has cited information, they will change it. -- Absolon S. Kent (talk) 17:34, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Coordinators' working group

Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 05:31, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Request for comment

There is currently a discussion regarding how much material regarding certain matters of the subject's private life should be included in the article above. GA Sweeps invitation

This message is being sent to WikiProjects with GAs under their scope. Since August 2007, WikiProject Good Articles has been participating in GA sweeps. The process helps to ensure that articles that have passed a nomination before that date meet the GA criteria. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. Instead of reviewing by topic, editors can consider picking and choosing whichever articles they are interested in.

We are always looking for new members to assist with reviewing the remaining articles, and since this project has GAs under its scope, it would be beneficial if any of its members could review a few articles (perhaps your project's articles). Your project's members are likely to be more knowledgeable about your topic GAs then an outside reviewer. As a result, reviewing your project's articles would improve the quality of the review in ensuring that the article meets your project's concerns on sourcing, content, and guidelines. However, members can also review any other article in the worklist to ensure it meets the GA criteria.

If any members are interested, please visit the GA sweeps page for further details and instructions in initiating a review. If you'd like to join the process, please add your name to the running total page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles from the worklist or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. With ~1,300 articles left to review, we would appreciate any editors that could contribute in helping to uphold the quality of GAs. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! Talk:University of Atlanta -- input requested

This article has been the subject of many discussions (WP:ANI, WP:AFD, etc.) A predecessor school, Barrington University, was unaccredited and involved in multiple scandals. In 2004, it was sold to new owners. In 2008, Barrington was renamed and received DETC accreditation.

Presently, there's a disagreement at Talk:University of Atlanta as to whether Barrington's history should be included in the University of Atlanta article. This content issue has been clouded by issues of alleged spamming, sockpuppetry and legal threats by University of Atlanta employees and/or partisans.

It would be helpful if we had a few more neutral editors looking this over and adding their thoughtful comments on the talk page. Note that doing this right probably means about 30 minutes reading the cited references and the full discussion on the article talk page.

Thanks, --A. B. (talkcontribs) 16:52, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Format question

I was just looking at the articles for North Georgia, Central Georgia and the Historic South and was wondering if there is any set format for these articles? If not, I would suggest that a format needs to be decided on - perhaps a compromise between the Georgia article and, say, a county article? Any thoughts or suggestions on this? Georgia Institute of Technology GA Sweeps: On Hold

I have reviewed Georgia Institute of Technology for GA Sweeps to determine if it still qualifies as a Good Article. In reviewing the article I have found several issues, which I have detailed here. Since the article falls under the scope of this project, I figured you would be interested in contributing to further improve the article. Please comment there to help the article maintain its GA status. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Happy editing! This article is now at a beginning point, but there are some courthouses missing, or missing information, and images are badly needed. Some may be found at the FJC cite in the external links. Help is needed and would be appreciated - this list will be the jumping off point for WP:USCJ's effort to write articles about each courthouse. Cheers! bd2412 T 04:38, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
