Some tips on editing articles

[edit]

Hello Architect 134, and again, welcome to Wikipedia. I notice that Cluebot, a computer program that reverts edits that look like vandalism, has been warning you over your edits. It's pretty clear to me that all of those warnings from Cluebot were mistaken, and that your edits so far have all been well meant. You've been adding correct explanations of things, but Wikipedia works in a slightly different way to that.

When we want to clarify what things are in the article, we add a wikilink to an article about them, rather than summarizing them in the article. So, for example, in this edit to 1997–98 Icelandic Hockey League season, you wrote: "This article is about a hockey season in Iceland. Iceland is an island in the North Atlantic Ocean." That's 100% correct, but an even better way to convey that is to give readers who don't know what Iceland is, it to link to the Iceland article. That way, they have the choice to learn about that, if they don't already know it, by clicking on the linked article Iceland. Linking like that keeps the article shorter and easy to read. Just in case readers are in any doubt about what's meant by "hockey" in the title, I've also added a link to the words "ice hockey" in the introduction. Links are a good, concise way to avoid having to repeat ourselves in an article, or having to restate the obvious. I hope that's helpful. Best of luck, and happy editing! Amphitorna albipuncta

[edit]

Hello Architect134. Regarding your reversion of my edit on Amphitorna albipuncta, you'll find that categorizations do not require references. The page currently has a separate citation that links the moth with Ceylon. I'll assume good faith on your part. Please explain your logic. all best --Lockley (talk) 05:48, 19 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I don’t understand. I have no idea what any of this is about. I do not want a new username! This block appears to apply to another user and this is the unblock template I was given? Was someone unhappy with one of my recent edits? Whatever is going on here is upsetting and I’d like to be able to contribute. Architect 134 (talk) 03:55, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
