Do You Agree That These People Were of Syrian Descent?

[edit]

Hello NT. Thank you for your edits. Do you agree that Anwar Wagdi, Tamer Hosny, Soad Hosny were of Syrian descent? If not, please make your opinion known if this category "Category:Egyptians of Syrian descent" should be in their articles, both in the articles themselves and here. --Arab Cowboy (talk) 10:03, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello AC. I always read what goes on here but I rarely participate. I commented on your post as I really find SD's edits confusing and I am wondering if his misleading edits can come to an end. All I can say here is that we never heard Anwar Wagdi, Tamer Hosny, Soad Hosny are anything other than Egyptians. I'll search for reliable sources and try to find time to take part in the discussions. Nefer Tweety (talk) 02:40, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Arbitration

[edit]

If you want to say something: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case#Asmahan --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 07:35, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

An Arbitration case involving you has been opened, and is located here. Please add any evidence you may wish the Arbitrators to consider to the evidence sub-page, Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Asmahan/Evidence. Please submit your evidence within one week, if possible. You may also contribute to the case on the workshop sub-page, Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Asmahan/Workshop.

On behalf of the Arbitration Committee, hmwith 18:46, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Postponed

[edit]

Due to User:Arab Cowboy's vacation, he requested that the case be postponed until October 9. Does that work for you? hmwith 15:00, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, ignore that last request. I've discussed this with other active users in the case, and postponing it will not work for everyone. The arbs will not make a decision until the user returns, but the case can resume normally otherwise. Thanks for your cooperation, hmwith 00:04, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Principles

[edit]

What you posted at WP:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Asmahan/Workshop#Proposed principles are not really principles. Principles "should be grounded in Wikipedia policies and guidelines". For examples, see WP:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Speed of light#Principles. Your paragraph is more of a mixture of Findings of Fact and Remedies. You can get ideas for what each of these are by looking at WP:Arbitration/Guide to arbitration and other cases. Cheers, hmwith 17:57, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nefer Tweety, please respond to Hmwith above. Also, I will need to be gone or check-in only sparingly over the next few days because of preoccupation with other matters. Could you please help me montitor these two cases: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Supreme_Deliciousness and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Asmahan/Workshop . Thank you. --Arab Cowboy (talk) 01:15, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Amendment request

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Amendment#Request_to_amend_prior_case:_Asmahan --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 19:27, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nefer Tweety, as I am certain you are aware, blanket reversions such as this are not helpful. You not only reintroduced copyright infringing text, but you also removed grammar and MOS edits by several editors such as this, this, this and this.

Additionally, the edits by Supreme Deliciousness that you reverted were mostly minor and non-controversial -- and were opened for discussion on the talk page by Supreme Deliciousness as is dictated by their editing restriction. It is proper to first address them there. Although the change of the section titles might be interpreted as a violation of SD's rectrictions -- the change (Egypt's influence on Asmahan's career to Egypt's influence) is certainly borderline if not completely neutral.

On probationary articles, all editors are expected to take extra precautions to maintain neutrality and civility -- this is especially true for "involved editors" such as yourself (you are named as involved in the content dispute). Your statement that "I am dedicating my time on Wikipedia to protecting Egypt related articles from Supreme Deliciousness's vandalism" is pointy. And calling content edits "vandalism" is a violation of Decorum and WP:CIVIL. Further actions and comments like this can be considered disruptive and may result in a ban.

Please do not make any more blanket reversions of content edits at Asmahan and the related articles, use the talk page to discuss content issues and refrain from the personal attacks. Regards. CactusWriter | needles 13:53, 25 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Medjool

[edit]

I was alerted to this edit of yours. Please note that canvassing for your point of view is strictly forbidden. Did you know who this user really was before inviting them to the Asmahan article? NW (Talk) 21:27, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've never known this. I was planning to do this again! Thanks for drawing my attention to something I didn’t know. I actually invited another user that hasn’t responded to my message yet.I am not a regular editor, I read discussions on talk pages, and edit only when I am extremely interested. I got interested in Asmahan, Omar Sharif and a few other articles. AC doesn’t seem to be around, so I was looking for others to invite to the discussion. I saw what happened with Medjool!!! The first thing that SD does to drive away anyone supporting AC is to file an SPI against them. I don’t see that the evidence SD has submitted is enough to prove that Medjool is for sure AC’s sockpuppet. I neither know AC nor know Medjool and I am not convinced they are surely ONE!!!-- Nefer Tweety (talk) 19:34, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Overwriting existing images

[edit]

I have restored this image to its original. I realize that you uploaded the image with which you replaced it some time ago, and it may be that you will already realize by now why this is not a good idea. In case note, I'll note that besides effectively obliterating the original image, you created a misleading image summary. User:Photolitherland did not certify that he had created either of the images you uploaded himself. If you want to reupload the school's picture, please do so under a unique name and indicate both the origin of the photograph and the licensing terms under which it is released. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:42, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Asmahan

[edit]

I would appreciate it if you replied to my post on the talk page. As you may be aware, SD is keen for me to start looking at the material under dispute. However, I would like to hear an explanation of your concerns before I decide whether to get involved.--Peter cohen (talk) 11:18, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your threat

[edit]

I saw here that you made a threat to "revert any statements that have not received consensus with all parties prior to the arbitration". Don't...do that. That shows clear evidence of your intent to be disruptive, tendentious, overly hostile on that article. I will not stand for such actions, and immediate blocks or topic bans are not out of the question. NW (Talk) 11:10, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As stated in my response on NW's talk page, I agree with the above warning. An inflexible stance against any change in consensus violates Wikipedia policy that consensus can change. NF, I suggest you reassess your position. CactusWriter | needles 19:07, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
