The clamper works without a restive element (though of course in reality there will always be some resistivity element). I have experimentally verified this just now by sending the ac signal into the gate of a 2n7000 mosfet (which has ridiculously high resistance). Anyway {{slink|Diode|Clamper}} shows "a simple diode clamper" without any resistor. While ideal, it is still functionally a clamper. undo Tag: Visual edit
