I have added the press release announcing the reorganization that explicitly states Namco Bandai Games Inc. will be the successor of Namco, Ltd. Legally, a successor is a corporation that continues the business of a defunct corporation. This should settle the matter. undo

This is why I left intact the claims about Bandai Namco Games being a new company to respect what the sources say. If you look at my previous edits, you'll see that the only things I have removed were the claims about the old Namco being defunct because this isn't supported by any of the sources and saying it's defunct means drawing personal conclusions. The WP:BURDEN is actually on you to find a source that explicitly says it's defunct. undo Tag: Undo
  • curprev 17:0617:06, 18 March 2023Indrian talk contribs 134,497 bytes +49 This is not accurate. Bandai Namco’s own annual reports and other corporate materials identify Namco Bandai Games as a “newly established” company. Now it’s certainly possible the old company was also renamed and maintained as a holding or shell company, but you need to find a source showing the original Namco Ltd. still exists in some form. undo Tags: Manual revert Reverted

The four sources talk about the merger between the video games divisions of Namco and Bandai and the emergence of Namco Bandai Games which they view as a new company, which isn't entirely false since in practice Namco Bandai Games can be considered a new company the same way Square Enix can be considered a new company instead of a rebranded Enix. However none of the sources say the old Namco was actually dissolved. undo Tag: Reverted
