== Re: Wondering If My Prodding Was Legit ==

To be honest I am currently looking at the pages, trying to figure out how to get rid of them ;). Personally I wouldn't have tagged them as {{tl|db-spam}}, and the problem with prod is that obviously this person won't agree with you. I think we'll have to go through AfD. I let you do the honours :) (nominate both articles as the same discussion). -- [[User:Lucasbfr|lucasbfr]] [[User talk:Lucasbfr|<font color="darkblue">talk</font>]] 21:13, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

More About Illinois

Moccassin is all screwed up now. I don't know what the heck the admins are doing, but they have merged, deleted whatever.--Kranar drogin 13:06, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I think we got it all straight for now. Mistakes happen, and we just move on from there. Let me know if you run into any other questions concerning Illinois and I will try and answer it for you (or get you one).--Kranar drogin 01:46, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Illinois Confusion

Don't worry about it, I didn't help matters any by adding in a redirect. Administrators have the capacity to undo moves by a process called histmerge, but that requires temporary deletion. If you ever need to merge article histories or undo moves, add {{db-g6}} or simply ask an admin for assistance. Anyway, everything seems to be all right now, thanks to Kranar drogin explaining the situation. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 20:11, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Beauty and the Beast (2003 film)

Re your message: It's rather heavy on the plot and nothing else. It makes the article feel a bit fancrufty if you know what I mean. Stating that it's PG-13 and its rather low IMDB score doesn't help any. -- Gogo Dodo 05:18, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Zamit

"Are you certain all is well with John Żammit. Article seems to be written by the person himself which might be conflict of interest, but I'm not sure. -WarthogDemon 02:39, 4 July 2007 (UTC)"[reply]

I'm not the least sure how notable he is, but it isn't a speedy for obvious lack of notability--From Google, he seems to be a local big shot in Malta. This isn't going to be easy to source--what I've just done is put a prod on to give time. It would help if you'd keep track--if someone removes the prod without improving it, p[lease send to AfD. Agreed, its COI, but that is not a reason for speedy. if someone with COI writes a really spammy article, then speedy for G11 spam is often applicable. If they're lazy, then copyvio is worth a look. But this is a sober article of dubious notability. Not everyone agrees with me, but I think speedy is only fair when it is unquestionably non-notable or altogether impossible on other grounds. I apologize for not putting on a prod immediately, but there's a large speedy backlog tonight and not enough admins seem to be around, & I want to help clear out the real trash before the holiday. Hi there; no, actually you didn't do it right. But no matter. When you want to report a username violation, then the place to do it is WP:UAA. Mudkip eggs

I placed them in their own article after any mention of them was removed from the Mudkip article several times. If the mudkip eggs clutter up the mudkip article too much, this is understandable objection and they can be moved to separate article, as I have done. User:Zaphraud 01:18, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello WarthogDemon. Regarding your change of my tag of First world problems from spam to nonsense, I would have liked to revert it to spam. This was an article advertising a book, written in the style of an adverstisement. It was coherent English - patent nonsense is something that makes little to no sense at all. As my friend User:Leebo would say:

"A page can be deleted as nonsense when it is simply a meaningless string of characters...

Example given - $₯fe₠./₣- ƒ-j ₭ ₤ ℳ ₥ ₦ ₧ ₰ £ ៛ ₨ ₪ ৳ ₮ ₩ ¥ ♠ ♣ ♥ ♦

...or a collection of words that alone may exist in the dictionary, but together comprise an incoherent jumble.

Example given - i butt blattnt plant Template:Butt gunna take iup spiders bagiones preeow oooofa and you prickly dance town monsters"

Thank you for your interest in correctly tagging this article, but I was going to revert it to spam when I found it was already deleted. Since I already had this typed up, I figured I would share my feelings with you any how. If you still disagree, please let me know and we can discuss it further. tags

Thanks for asking, and I apologize for not posting you notes at the time. I think you have a good eye for spotting unsuitable articles, so I had a little trouble finding them going back over the log, since most of the tagging was excellent. I also see you remove a tag of your own if you have second thoughts, which is far better than most people. If I see you've done a speedy, I generally would not remove the tag even if I thought it borderline, because I know we have slightly different philosophies, so I would let someone else decide. But I found on your contributions page:

  • Nicholas F. Benton, and it has enough problems that I certainly should have placed a tag or two. So I've placed notability & COI tags & notified the author to get some refs in. But saying that someone is the editor of a newspaper is an assertion of notability--though not necessarily a strong one. This one could also be tagged G11, but please hold off a day to give him a chance to fix it, since I just notified him.
  • John Żammit--this one we did discuss. He seemed to be possibly a big shot in Malta. I changed it to prod, and he was deleted. As it probably deserved, if nobody wanted to fix it.
  • Sierra Legal Defence Fund is probably notable, if anyone would do the work. There seem to be a lot of possible directions there--there's strong cosponsorship.
  • If you'll remind me of others?

In general, my idea is to remove the junk fast and work on anything rescuable. Of course, I myself cant work on more than 1 or 2 a day, so I concentrate where I have special interest or sourcing facilities or skill. If you will look at my deletion log you will see the sort of stuff I do delete.

  • One minor point that came up with someone else--towns, villages, etc, are always notable, or so they keep saying at Afd. I can't say I really agree with the rule, but so it is, & there's no point tagging them. DGG (talk) 23:59, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, the references in this article were written incorrectly. I fixed this, as well as removing a blacklisted link. As for the article itself, it could use more content, but in my opinion it qualifies for WP:BAND. However, I will list it for AFD to try to get multiple viewpoints. Lucy's Retired Surfer's Bar

Last night this page was deleted. The person that wrote the original page contacted the administrator that deleted it. I re-wrote the page using the guidelines specified by WIKIpedia. Please explain why it has been listed as spam. It was a descriptive page. Nothing more. The Dunkin Donuts page lists every kind of coffee they sell. If that is okay, I don't see the problem with this page since it was only a brief history and a map link. Nothing was promoted here. Please explain. -—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Foreveryours4444 (talkcontribs).

There have been 8 Lucy's Retired Surfer's Bars across the country. 4 are still in existance. It is a franchise, just like McDonald's. You may have never heard of it but companies like "Pita Pit" have a page and they are a small franchise also. The discription of Lucy's was not merely about the one in Syracuse but about all of them. The pictures happened to be from Syracuse. But when you see a picture of "Pita Pit" it was obviously taken locally somewhere. And companies such as Dunkin' Donuts blatently advertises their stores by listing every type of coffee they sell. And I don't mind but is that really necessary? I doubt that I'd find that information in the "Encyclopedia Britannica." You also shortened the Marshall Street page. I see your point that you don't think it's necessary to list the stores, but there are many pages like that that exist on WIKIpedia, that list all the stores in the area that the page is about. I'm not trying to get you to delete them. I just want you to be fair, that's all. Listing the stores was not to make the page into a tour-guide. I know it may seem that way. But their are a lot of Syracuse University students and Alumni as wellas visitors that would find that information useful. Have't you ever said,"Hey, what was the name of that place we used to go to when we were in college?" Wouldn't you want to be able to look it up? I know this doesn't matter but I worked pretty hard on these pages. The Marshall Street page has listed stores from 2004 until now. So if it's wrong, then why did it go unnoticed for 3 years? All I did was correct information that was wrong, corrected spelling and punctuation, organized and alphabetized things and updated it. Truthfully, the page is much shorter than it was before. I deleted a lot of unimportant information, including bars and restuarant specials, incidents that occurred at various bars, and all the former retail stores. I understand if there's nothing you can do, but I hope you consider what I've stated. Thanks for your time. -Foreveryours4444 01:12, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You tagged the article for deletion, so you are likely familiar with the content. I agree with the tag and the deletion (by another admin, not me), and don't see any reason to go to DRV. A speedy deletion for spam in no way prevents the article from being recreated, but any new version should include references to places where these bars have been covered in reliable sources (not cameos in movies) and should document the notability of the chain. — Carl (CBM · talk) 01:28, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How did I (and why would I) tag my own article for deletion? What does DRV mean? I can only refer you to articles on the internet, web pages and web-found franchising information. Lucy's was in Co-Ed mMagazine (for instance) but they rated it "Best Bar in Syracuse" but I can't write that because it would be "promoting." Show me one reference on the "Pit Pit" page where they have been covered by reliable sources that document the notability of THEIR chain. On top of that they to have 2 links to their websight - obviously promoting, and descriptions of the types of pita sandwiches you can buy. Not exactly encyclopidia information. They don't have one reference to prove their notability. Just a lot of hear-say claims. I'm just using Pita Pit is just an example by the way. I've looked at quite a few WIKIpedia sights for franchises and NONE of them reference anything to prove their notibilty. You administrators seem to be bias, so I'm giving up. Thanks and have a great day. -—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.71.67.218 (talkcontribs).

You say you wantes to see if "I" had grounds for my article to removed? Why on earth would I want my own article removed? If I tagged it for removal, it was an accident, I assure you. I don't know how to tag articles or what that even means exactly. You also didn't explain why you allow other pages to do things your telling me I can't do. As I said before, not only are they promoting themselves by explaining detailed discriptions on the products they sell, but adding links to their personal websights. Both of which, I was told I can't do and was what got my article deleted the first time. And I haven't seen one page that uses references to back up their claims. Go to the "Studio 54" page for instance. Then read the long list of celebrities who supposedly were seen there. Try and find one reference to back up these "notable" claims. I realize that Lucy's is not Studio 54, but I'm just trying to make a point here and this is not an isolated thing. It's pretty much everyone.

I also still disagree that you shortened the Marshall Street page. It was up and running for 3 years and all I did was make some corrections. In fact, I actually shortened it myself. You're going to get everyone that you deleted angry with me. As I stated earlier, the businesses that were listed directly reflect to the area's personna and history and listing them was informative to many people. Taking them out deprives people of important information. And anyway, WIKIpedia allows this "unnecessary store listing" on many other pages that refer to a given city's specific area.

This time please address all my questions and concerns instead of just answering one. You ask me not to get angry and I'm not, but please understand that I spent about a week reasearching and writing these articles. Then they were deleted. So I spent hours rewriting them using one of YOUR ADMINISTRATOR"S strict guidelines and you again deleted them as I was still in the process of editing one. I've gone by your rules but WIKIpedia doesn't seem to even follow their own rules. And everytime I've written you and explained my concerns you pick out the one question that's easy to answer and fail to address the rest. (For example, out of all my questions and comments I wrote last time, all you anwered was what DRV stands for, which clarified absolutely nothing for me)

When I said have a great day I meant it. I know you're not out to personally get me. I would just like all of my questions answered so don't have to keep asking because I've wasted enough time this week on all this already and it's not angering me, it's just very frustrating.

Cheers -Foreveryours4444 14:58, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I'd say it is a non-required redirect. I have deleted as a test page not required. Thank you for your prompt. Best wishes. --VS talk 00:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your opinion welcome at deletion review for Plot of Les Mis

After Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Plot of Les Misérables closed as a deletion, I'm challenging the way the closing administrator acted as in violation of Wikipedia rules. Your participation is welcome at that discussion, Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2007 July 14. Please keep in mind that only arguments related to either new information or to how Wikipedia rules were violated or not violated in closing the discussion will be considered. It isn't a replay of the original AfD. I'm familiar with WP:CANVASSING and I am alerting everyone who participated in that discussion to the deletion review. I won't contact anyone again on this topic, and I apologize if you consider this note distracting. Noroton 04:48, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning An Attack Page

I'm mad at that guy. He just annoyed me and I couldn't help but to write about it on Wikipedia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mr. johnathan (talkcontribs).

Can you take back that stupid report you threatened on my talk page about being reported? -—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mr. johnathan (talkcontribs).

Re: Can You Delete Two Talk Page Edits From My Page?

"A user created an attack page and has apologized thrice (long story, you can check history) and while I want to keep the apology, I think it might be best that the retard edits: [51] and [52] be removed. Is that possible? -WarthogDemon 19:38, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unless you think it's not that bad. I just want to make sure all extreme/serious attacks on people can not be traced through my talk page. -WarthogDemon 19:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC)"[reply]
Hmmm, that's slightly awkward because the edits exist in the edit history of the page. I think that to do this would mean recreating your page and merging in order to preserve the edit history. It is a fiddly thing, though. Is it really necessary? (aeropagitica) 20:05, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Myachi pages

Feel free to explain why you think said pages are advertisements, because they are anything but. They're simply sources of information for anyone who wants to know more about Myachi, and there is no reason to delete them.

I've already dealt with this plenty of times, and every time, I did what was asked. I removed everything that didn't sound "encyclopedic," I made it so it wasn't like an advertisement, I added references. But now you've got a problem with it? -BrownsFanForLife 21:05, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm doing my best to source the information, but you've got to understand, there aren't many sources. Most of what is said on the article is just that: said. There are no books on Myachi, and just one video. The only real sources are the Myachi website and forum, and that's all I really can source. Most everything else was said, at one point or another, by the creators of Myachi themselves. -BrownsFanForLife 21:09, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thanks. I added one more reference, the Myachi video I mentioned. I haven't watched it all, but it demonstrats and explains a lot about Myachi, some of the info on the article should also be on the video.

Re: Wondering If My Prodding Was Legit

To be honest I am currently looking at the pages, trying to figure out how to get rid of them ;). Personally I wouldn't have tagged them as {{db-spam}}, and the problem with prod is that obviously this person won't agree with you. I think we'll have to go through AfD. I let you do the honours :) (nominate both articles as the same discussion). -- lucasbfr talk 21:13, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
