The 16th Golden Raspberry Awards were held on March 24, 1996 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel to recognize the worst the movie industry had to offer in 1995. The list of nominees follows, with recipients denoted in bold. Showgirls broke Razzie records when it was nominated for 13 awards (out of 11 categories) and broke one again when the film won seven, including Worst Picture. That record would be tied with Battlefield Earth in 2001 and later broken in 2008, when I Know Who Killed Me won eight Razzies. For the first time in Razzie history, an actual "winner" showed up to the ceremony and accepted his award: Showgirls director Paul Verhoeven.
