Académico de Viseu Futebol Clube is a Portuguese football club based in Viseu. Founded in 1917 and refounded in 2005, it currently plays in the Portuguese Second Division, holding home games at Estádio do Fontelo, with a 12,000-seat capacity.

History

The club was founded in 1974 as Grupo Desportivo Farminhão. In 2005, Clube Académico de Futebol, an historic founded in 1917 which competed in several top division seasons in the 80's (the last being 1988–89), folded due to financial problems.[1][2]

Académico de Viseu Futebol Clube maintaining the logo of Clube Academico Futebol and team colours, and started competing again immediately, in the Viseu first regional league, achieving promotion to the fourth level in 2007.

In the last match of the 2008–09 season, after a 2–0 win against Anadia FC, the team promoted to the third division, a feat which was accomplished on goal difference. It would be however, immediately relegated back.
