Don't make asinine and sadistic predictions as to when people are going to die. Also, look at the sources; you are most likely not a neurosurgeon, and even if you are, the ones that treated him said he was resting in intensive care, where he will remain for 10-12 days. :::Are you serious, dude? The info you added is not only '''unuseful''', it's '''unabashedly sadistic and mean-spirited'''. When one enters the search term "Peter Gammons" into Google, it is the '''third''' page seen. Who knows how many '''people''' (yes, people, '''not''' faceless usernames and IP's on the internet) would have seen your nonsense and been extremely sad and grief-stricken at the "news". I don't have a God complex; '''you do''', which is evident in you declaring when people are going to die. What's the worst, is that you think it's fun to get your kicks on the pain and suffering of others. When Mr. Gammons does eventually die, thousands of people will feel his loss, and you think it's fun... there are honestly no words to describe how perverse you're acting. And for the record, I spend my time on Wikipedia making beneficial contributions to the project, some of which include making sure that edits like yours don't ruin it. Hi there, and thank you for dropping by my talk page! Want to leave me a message? Click that link above. Please be sure to add a title and signature (~~~~) to your messages. Cheers!

There was a project to help improve the quality of rugby union articles on Wikipedia. Recently it has become inactive, I'm trying to get it restarted. If you are interested, please sign up (follow the link).GordyB 21:02, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

There are about a million different protocols in Wikipedia but you only get to find them out when you break them. One of which is that an article shouldn't normally be in a category if it is already in a subcategory. Category:US rugby union teams is a subcat of Category:Rugby union in the United States; the main cat Category:Rugby union can't take every article on rugby union or it would be like a jungle. I'm glad you've signed up for the project because I'm trying to get articles written on the culture of rugby union in each country. There is as yet no Rugby union in the United States mainly because I don't know very much about it, Rugby union in Wales and Rugby union in England might give you a picture of what I would like doing.GordyB 08:55, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to Esperanza!

Welcome, Hoopydink~enwiki, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.

I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of JoanneB, FireFox and Titoxd. The next set of elections are right now.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, please see the IRC tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

Old Skool Esperanzial note

Since this isn't the result of an AC meeting, I have decided to go Old Skool. This note is to remind you that the elections are taking place now and will end at 23:50 UTC on 2006-04-29. Please vote here. Thanks. --Celestianpower háblame 20:42, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

Just responding to your comments left for the nominator on the deletion page for Jesuit Ivy. I'm not the one who nominated the article, and I don't presume to speak for him, but I think your comments are a bit off. First of all, you mention that there's a story behind the nickname, but there's a story behind lots of nicknames. Maybe his Pennsylvania State University/Penn State example isn't the best, but many institutions and people have non-intuitive nicknames, and every one I've seen is a redirect. Second of all, you state that there is "no blatant boosterism", when it's clear there is, as the nom alludes to: calling yourself the X Ivy has become a booster staple for generations, even when there is no credence whatsoever for the term. Google has just 111 results for "Jesuit Ivy" -wikipedia. Third of all, and I don't know whether this was in the nominator's mind, but everyone knows that if he had vented his criticisms on the talk page--where they would have been seen only by Boston College students--they would have been roundly rejected. Incidentally, while I'm not assuming bad faith, I do notice most of your contributions are Boston-related, a particular favorite article of yours being Boston College High School. OK, that's all I had to say. Take care. Raggaga 19:02, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

  • Hi there, thanks for posting on my talk page. In regards to your concern for academic boosterism, I understand your point, however, Boston College, as an institution or as a community, does/didn't label themselves an "Ivy", so to speak. It was a term created by then- Senator John F. Kennedy, which is mentioned prominently in the article and gives the background for his choice of words. True, most of my posts are Boston related, however if your suggesting a bias or a possible err in judgment on my part in my decision to vote to merge the article, I'd be happy to go to the AfD and postscript an invitation to check out my user contributions to voters/potential voters. If I may comment on your comments on the AfD discussion page, I would argue that the nickname is real (a comparison might be The U and the University of Miami, which incidentally, are two separate articles... The U is a disambig page, but there is a link to an article about "The U" as a nickname for UMiami, not just a redirect to the article about the university). In any case, thanks for being a part of Wikipedia and I appreciate your comments. Cheers! Hoopydink 03:44, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

Why are you voting to merge Jesuit Ivy with Boston College? Based on your comments on the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jesuit Ivy page, why not vote to keep it? Droitet 15:45, 3 May 2006 (UTC) (BC'03, BCLS'07)

  • Upon reflection, I did decide to change my vote to keep. Thanks for the advice to reconsider my vote. Hoopydink 05:13, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

USA Rugby

Hi Hoopydink, thanks for leaving me a message. In my opinion, whilst the articles would benefit from being merged, it has become standard that every country has an article for their governing body, national team, domestic comp and rugby union in X.

So they should probably stay apart, but we should work on a template similar to the England one, so that people can actually access all the info. Good work with all the US Rugby contributions as well. Keep it up! Cvene64 00:30, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #3

The Administrator Coaching program is a program aimed at preparing Wikipedians for Adminship or helping them understand the intricacies of Wikipedia better. Recently, changes have been made to the requirements of coachees. Please review them before requesting this service.
This would be something like the Welcoming Committee, but for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. Some might like suggestions about how to learn vandal patrol, or mentoring on taking an article to featured status, or guidance with a proposal they plan to make at the Village Pump, for example. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.
The Stressbusters are a subset of Esperanza aiming to investigate the causes of stress. New eyes on the situation are always welcome!
Note from the editor
As always, MiszaBot handled this delivery. Thank you! Also, congratulations go to Pschemp, Titoxd and Freakofnurture for being elected in the last elections! An Esperanzial May to all of the readership!
  1. Posting logs of the Esperanza IRC channel are explicitly banned anywhere. Violation of this rule results in deletion and a ban from the channel.
  2. A disclaimer is going to be added to the Esperanza main page. We are humans and, as such, are imperfect.
  3. Various revisions have been made to the Code of Conduct. Please see them, as the proposal is ready to be ratified by the community and enacted. All members will members to have to re-confirm their membership after accepting the Code of Conduct.
  4. Referendums are to be held on whether terms of AC members should be lengthened and whether we should abolish votes full stop.
  5. Admin Coaching reform is agreed upon.

Hi there. I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that I put the copyedit tag you removed in Alex Rodriguez article back on. The tone is still far from being encyclopedic and is in dire need of a heavy copyedit. hoopydinkConas tá tú? 01:42, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I'm a bit confused on the use of the copyedit tag. It seems like it should be reserved for articles with grammatical/spelling errors. If merely being "unencyclopedic" were grounds for inclusion, it seems like well over 50% of the articles on Wikipedia should have that tag at this point!!! I agree with you that the Rodriguez article is still in this category. It seems like it would be far better to save this tag for the articles that are in the worst shape and need basic attention to get up to a minimum level of readability. I would appreciate your thoughts. --JChap 13:41, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
In terms of using the copyedit tag judiciously, I think we might have separate criterion for when to put it on. For me, the purpose of the tag is not to slight the article or the editors, but to alert other Wikipedians that help is needed to make the article the best it can possibly be. I'm sure that the article is seen by millions of people (it is the sixth website seen on Google when one searches for Alex Rodriguez) so hopefully the tag will help in fixing the article and hopefully becoming a featured article at some point! Cheers! hoopydinkConas tá tú? 20:45, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Good point, and I hadn't taken offense. Just a misunderstanding over the term "copyedit." Is there a tag for articles that need brief and immediate attention to get them up to a basic readability level but that doesn't involve the time it would take to get the Rodriguez article up to encyclopedic? --JChap 04:39, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
You might want to check out Wikipedia:Template_messages. There's a bunch of tags there that might help, particularly in the cleanup and maintenance sections. hoopydinkConas tá tú? 08:11, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Ahh yes, it looks like you just got there a split second before me and my program reverted yours on accident, sorry for the accident, good luck hunting those vandles :) SirGrant 05:04, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

about my 'vandalism'

for some reason, every single user on my ISP actually comes up with the same IP. A router or proxy. so its going to be very hard to keep track of who posted what if you get my ip address because thats not one person... i for one couldnt give a hoot about Xewkija F.C. for example... but some other Maltese using the same ISP (onVol) posted that...

just thought i should clear that up... if you reply to this... theres no garuntee that i'll get this...

i thought i might aswell register to avoid that ip problem... yep i'm the guy who got your message because someone was posting nonsense on the same ip... wish i could help... maybe you or whoever is in charge can block my ip from posting without registering/logging in? if thats possible

KrazyKain

  • Cheers mate! I'd definitely suggest registering for an account and explaining on your user page that you share an IP with multiple users so you don't receive vandalism warnings for vandalisim you didn't commit. In regards to blocking your IP without registering, I don't think that's possible, but you might want to ask an administrator (see WP:ADMIN). Good luck! hoopydinkConas tá tú? 08:31, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

New Trier

I tagged the section NPOV and initiated NPOV dispute on the talk page. -- Usgnus 03:31, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

That's probably the best solution. The creator of said passage reverted me twice and seems adament about keeping the section up even though it definitely violates policy. Good work! hoopydinkConas tá tú? 04:56, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

I could just thank you in IRC, but I'll do it this way as it's more permanent. Thanks for your support! – Gurch 16:04, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

My RFA

Hoopydink, thank you very much for your support in my recent Request for adminship, it passed with a final tally of (65/3/3) - which I find both amazing and humbling. I wish I had time to thank everyone personally, but I'm afraid all I can offer is this token of my gratitude. I hope to live up to your expectations/hopes. If at any stage you need to contact me, for help or a request or to point out a mistake in my conduct, please make sure to tell me on my talk page. --Fir0002 08:23, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Thank you

Hi Hoopydink~enwiki, thank you for voting in my RFA which failed eventually at a result of (91/51/8). I do not plan to run for adminship until a later date. Once again, I would like to thank you for voting. --Terence Ong (talk | contribs) 14:55, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

your administrator said anybody could change a sentence. if i say a guy has ten kids and someone says he has eight. i'm allowed to say i know from what the guy said on the radio he has ten. every time i say then they say eight. they're saying he put out albums that are not released. they're lying and every time it goes back it's a lie. wikipedia is a free speech place, you can't say what the truth is when the opposite it out of the person's mouth on the radio. our administrator said anybody could change a sentence. if i say a guy has ten kids and someone says he has eight. i'm allowed to say i know from what the guy said on the radio he has ten. every time i say then they say eight. they're saying he put out albums that are not released. they're lying and every time it goes back it's a lie. wikipedia is a free speech place, you can't say what the truth is when the opposite it out of the person's mouth on the radio. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.78.69.152 (talkcontribs)

Hi there! It's true, anyone can edit Wikipedia! However, you must cite your sources as Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. I suggest you check out WP:CITE and WP:BC for more information regarding how and why to cite sources and general information for new users. Also, blanking pages is not an appropriate response to another editor reverting your statements. Please see WP:CIVIL for information on how to properly interact with other editors.hoopydinkConas tá tú? 08:44, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
BUT HEY THEY DID NOT SUPPORT THEIR SOURCES. THEY SAY 8 KIDS WITH NO SOURCING. SO HOW COME YOU DON'T EDIT THEM??? I ALREADY HAVE SAVED EMAILS FROM ADMINISTRATOR AT WIKIPEDIA WHO SIAD IT IS NOT VANDALISM TO SAY TEN OR TO EDIT A SINGLE SENTENCE. HE TOLD ME I CAN EDIT FROM EIGHT TO TEN OR I CAN EDIT A SENTENCE. IF THE RECORDS ARE NOT SOLD IN THE RECORD STORES, IT IS IS LIE. BIIZY BONE. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.78.69.152 (talkcontribs)
Hi and thanks for the response! I added a tag on the Bizzy Bone article that says that the article does not cite sources. Blanking content on articles is' considered vandalism, however. Hopefully the tag will solve some confusion. Cheers mate! hoopydinkConas tá tú? 08:58, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
so then you talk TO THE GUY WHO IS LYING ON THIS PAGE AND SAY HE DOESN'T HAVE TO CITE ANYTHING BUT KEEPS PSOTING THE SAME LIES. HOW COME? HOW COME YOU PROTECT WHAT HE SAYS AND NOBODY ELSE?????? HOW COMES HE CAN SAY EIGHT AND NOT HAVE TO SHOW HIS REFERENCES. HOW COME HE CAN SAY ALBUMS WERE RELEASED THAT ARE NOT EVER SOLD IN BEST BUY. HOW COME YOU DON'T ASK HIM TO PROVE WHERE HE SAYS THESE ALBUMS CAME OUT? HOW COME YOU DON'T TELL HIM TO PROOF CERTIFICATE OF MARRIAGE, DIVOCRCE, DEATH. but somebody changes eight to ten and cites the radio program and date and he changes it back to whichever lie he wants. wikipedia is for EVERYONE. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.78.69.152 (talkcontribs)
I definitely agree with you that Wikipedia is for everyone. In, fact, that's the thing I like most about Wikipedia! The article has a tag that alerts the community that citations are needed. You might want to start a discussion on the talk page for the issues you have regarding the content and cite your sources. (Perhaps try a google search) I have no experience with the artist myself so I can't be of any help in that respect, however I can make sure that you are not blanking content. Again, try the talk page or contacting the primary contributors of the article on their talk page. Thanks again for your responses! hoopydinkConas tá tú? 08:58, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

HOOPYDINK: it is not NONSENSE THEY ARE NONSENSE WITH NO SOURCING. THEY ARE LYING. EVEN YOUR SPANISH SITE ON BIZZY DOES NOT LIE LIKE THEY DO. THEY ARE RIPPING PEOPE OFF AND TRYING TO SELL THEIR FAKE CDS. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.78.69.152 (talkcontribs)
hoopydink - your administrator said anyone can make changes. if they say eight and i say ten that is not blanking out a page. talking about it does not mean you should change the page to eight. you whoudl let it change by each user that is what wikipedia is for to allow for a word or sentence change. talking about it is not what wikipedia is about. it's about common edits, like a word or sentnece. some peopel writing about cosmos change two or three sentences and they dont get HASSLED OVER A WORD ON WIKIPEDIA. why are you saying they shoudl be able to keep eight when someone else says ten WHY — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.78.69.152 (talkcontribs)
Hi again! I don't speak Spanish and the article in question is located here on the English language site. I'm not exactly sure what you mean as you seem to contradict yourself a bit. I compliment your desire to make sure the accurate information is presented, and the best way to do that is by citing your sources! I reverted your edits because you were arguing with another editor on the article's page ! Also, when you want to ask for a citation, just use [citation needed] and it will display the phrase "citation needed" where you deem a citation is necessary. Do not just write that "it does not exist" and "there is no source" on the article's page. Again, perhaps contact the primary contributors to start a collaboration that makes sure that information on the article is factually presented. hoopydinkConas tá tú? 09:12, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
Give my recent edit a look. I replaced your content disputes with the appropriate tags. I'd suggest definitely continuing your discussion on the talk page and providing some sources. Cheers and welcome to Wikipedia! hoopydinkConas tá tú? 09:18, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
I took my own advice and did a google search. Check out Bizzy Bone's official homepage for factual information that you'll be able to cite in your editing of the article. hoopydinkConas tá tú? 09:27, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

hi, hoopydink. you helped with getting the bizzy bone page more accurate. the people who say he has an official myspace are trying to get fans to give money to buy a song from bizzy bone. so they are trying to call it official and link wikipedia to their selling machine. they are doing the same thing with saying there is an internet CD to be released they are ripping off fans. there is no such thing as an "offical" myspace cause there are over 15 people saying they are the official myspace so they cannot say it is "official" and link so that they can get fans from wikipedia to go over there and give them money. HOOOPYDINK -- the "official" site that used to work for bizzy bone steals people's money and doesn't deliver the CD: that is bizzybonemusic.com. the people editing this page now opened up ANOTHER MYSPACE AND A WEB PAGE TO STEAL FROM FANS. they are saying they are "official" but WE CAN SOURCE ALL THE PEOPLE RIPPED OFF> THEY ARE USING WIKIPEDIA TO LINK TO A FAKE MYSPACE TO STEAL MONEY. THEY USE A FAKE RECORDING AND ASK PEOPLE TO SEND THEM MONEY TO BUY AN ORIGINAL SONG FROM BIZZY BONE. THEY ARE USING WIKIPEDIA TO LINK TO STEAL FROM FANS. THERE IS ONLY one internet cd: HERE IS THE only SOURCE FOR THIS FOR THE FANS INTERNET cD: http://www.prnewsnow.com/PR%20News%20Releases/Art%20And%20Entertainment/Music/Bizzy%20Bone%20Does%20it%20For%20the%20Fans now they are trying to list CDS THAT ARE NOT RELEASED as discography. IF THEY ARE NOT RELEASED, they do not EXIST AS DISCOGRAPHY. and thank you for adding the sourcing, BUT THEY ARE USING WIKIPEDIA TO STEAL. THERE ARE LINKS ALL OVER TEH WEB OF THEM TRYING TO STEAL PEOPLE'S MONEY PRETENDING THEY ARE BIZZY BONE AND SAYIND FANS CAN SEDN MONEY TO TALK TO HIM AND BUY A SONG. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.78.69.152 (talkcontribs)

Hi again! MySpace is definitely not a legitimate source to quote in an encyclopedia so goood job of making sure that it doesn't appear as a "citation"! The site I listed (here, I didn't list any site on the article's page) was a result of a google search. If you read about people ripping others off in a magazine or if you saw it on a newscast, try and find the citation. It seems as if you have a good knowledge of the subject and a passion for making sure that the correct information is presented. Having said that, as long as you adhere to Wikipedia policy and continue to cite your sources, I'd be more than happy to defer to your judgement in terms of the content presented on the artist, Bizzy Bone, as I've no personal knowledge or experience with him. hoopydinkConas tá tú? 02:12, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

VandalProof, etc

I didn't notice that other IP popping up in between the edits, thanks for noticing it and fixing. However, I don't use and have actually never gotten VandalProof to work on my system. Jude (talk) 08:49, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

I'm still figuring out VandalProof myself. I first used .js to do reverts and VP is taking some getting used to. Try contacting AmiDaniel on his VP page if you need help with getting it to work on your system. hoopydinkConas tá tú? 08:58, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
I've actually spoken to him about it before, and decided that it wasn't worth the hassle. I wrote an RC feed filter a while ago, and that seems to suffice just fine. Jude (talk) 09:02, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Question

What is wrong with my Srose/Love talk page? It's not an article, trying to distribute incorrect information. Nobody has to go there if they don't want to. It's a conversation page for two active contributers who happen to converse a lot and don't want to irritate others. May I ask what the problem is? Srose 16:59, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi! Thanks for responding so quickly! The issue with the page is that it violates Wikipedia policy of what one cannot have in their userspace. Again, I'll refer you to this, which will outline what is and what isn't appropriate content to have in userspace. Wikipedia is not a blog, nor is it a proper forum for two users to carry on professing their love for one another. Though endearing, it has no place in an encyclopedia. When you check out the link I provided, please be sure to take a look at the bulletpoints. I felt it might be in your best interests to approach you directly rather than proposing the page for MfD or the like, as the content is personal and you and the other primary contributor might not want the community scrutinizing the content to determine whether it should or shouldn't be hosted by Wikipedia. Might I suggest using the telephone, or if long distance charges are a problem, Skype (which is free voice chat) or AOL Instant Messenger (free text chat). Cheers! hoopydinkConas tá tú? 17:33, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
I agree; talking on the phone is great, and email is great. However, not all comments on anyone's talk page are related to Wikipedia. I see that someone has already removed the page and I have no say, but I wanted to let you know that I still disagree with your comments. I don't think it was hurting anyone. While my boyfriend and I do talk on the phone every night, I don't think it was offensive to anyone.

However, it's over and done, so there you have it. I suppose this post is kind of pointless, but I really had to say something.

Thanks.

I just want to let it be known that I fully support Sable. The page had no malicious intent and was intented for a method of communication in other ways while we edited. Other users have far more explicit material on their pages. I support Sable now and I always will, no matter what. I love her, and I won't let her feel or go into this alone. I am sorry for my trouble and I am sorry to Sable. The page was intended for us, and I am sorry if it offended some users. Yanksox (talk) 23:55, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
  • In almost two years, we have yet to offend anybody. Additionally, nobody complained about the page until you did, and it had been up for over a week - almost two. Srose 01:05, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
First of all, thank you for having the page deleted by an admin (rather, an admin deleted it, and I'm assuming you took the initiative to contact him/her)! Just to clarify, Wikipedia is for everyone and to have bandwidth spent by only two users who are using the space strictly for personal use isn't appropriate. I wasn't sure what you meant by offending anyone in two years, as both of you are relatively new users (both joined 2006). In regards to mentioning other users' userspaces, it doesn't make it OK for one to ignore policy simply because others are. Also, just so you know, I wasn't offended at all; in fact, when I stumbled across the content, I thought it was cute. In the end, however, it was a blatant violation of policy and I thank you again for deciding to take it upon yourselves to have the page deleted. Cheers! hoopydinkConas tá tú? 02:44, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
By "two years", I meant a two year long relationship. I did not agree with the deletion, but I intend to let it rest. However, as a webpage designer myself, I feel obliged to let you know that even a very lengthy page of only text does not take up very much space at all; perhaps a fraction of an MB. The matter is, however, closed. Thanks. Srose 17:11, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Please leave my edits to Deer River alone. I've lived there all my life and am the best expert alive on the area, which I believe is underrepresented on wikipedia. I plan on building several other pages to describe the surrounding lakes in the area. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.253.220.206 (talkcontribs)

Wikipedia has a policy of no original research and while I can appreciate the fact that you make your home in Deer River, your edits did not comply with WP:NPOV, which states that all articles must be written with a neutral point of view. I reverted your edit because you inserted your biased and unsourced opinion into an encyclopedia article. I believe I can speak for the Wikipedia community in welcoming you and your expertise of the geographical region. Please feel free to contribute as much as you want, but don't take it personally if or when your edits are reverted, as anyone can edit most articles on the site. hoopydinkConas tá tú? 19:18, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Your reverting my corrections to "Chaim Menachem Rabin"

I don't understand why you reverted my edits, which were simply for correct and clear English (and were not "experiments"). "Semitic" is an adjective derived from a proper noun and should have a capital S (just as American has a capital A). No one says "Hebraic languages" -- it's usually "the Hebrew language", or, if one considers it to be several, then "Hebrew languages". "Hebraic" would not mean that it is Hebrew, but that it has something to do with Hebrew, like Hispanic or Germanic, which are different from Spanish or German. We don't say Hebraic books, or the Hebraic alphabet, etc.

I also fixed the spacing around the hyphens and parentheses for Rabin's dates. The article as it stands has a number of other clumsy expressions, that sound like non-native English, that I didn't fix.

My change from "Of German origin" to "born in Germany" is a bit different, but also just a matter of clarity and ordinary English usage. "Of German origin" is misleading. He was a German Jew, or a Jewish German. "Of German origin" says something about his family or ethnic roots; it simply doesn't mean the same as "born in Germany" or "came from Germany". I could be "of German origin" even if I've never been in Germany and don't speak German. Rabin was certainly German, in a sense, but then he was not just of German origin. It also obscures the fact that he was a Jew.

I'm surprised that you took my changes to be "experiments". I knew Rabin, and I've made minor edits to other Wikipedia articles without having them instantly undone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.185.85.92 (talkcontribs)

Hi there! Thanks for commenting on my talk page. I reverted your edits because you broke the link to semitic languages, which, if left the way you edited, would disallow other Wikipedians from directly accessing the article. Thanks again for the comment and feel free to contact me again if you have any questions. hoopydinkConas tá tú? 02:55, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Washington RFC

Please see the talk page for Washington Rugby Thanks - Outside Center

The Cherry Blossom article should be called Cherry Blossom Tournament I guess. I looked at the official website for it (http://www.washingtonrugbyclub.org/cherryr.htm) but most of what I could find was only on the Washington Team. Thanks for the help and the note on using the ~ things. Outside Center 00:25, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Outside Center
Hi! Feel free to create the article and I'll add stuff as I come across the info. The WRFC site used to have brackets and a history of the tournament winners, information that would be essential for the article. Perhaps we should contact the chairman of the tournament and have him send along the info (I'm sure he'll have a file of records handy on his computer that he can just forward along). I'll do some searching to see if I can find info elsewhere, independent of the official site. Cheers! hoopydinkConas tá tú? 00:32, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Hello again; haven't looked up Cherry Blossom yet but if you would scan over the WRFC page for any mistakes or things that need to be removed etc... when you have time. Thanks. Outside Center 02:13, 23 June 2006 (UTC)Outside Center

My (Mtz206) RfA

Thanks for supporting me in my RFA. My Request was successful with 41 supports, 12 opposes and 5 neutrals, and I'll do my best to live up to your expectations. If in any point in the future you get the feeling I'm doing something wrong, do not hesitate to drop me a line. -- mtz206 (talk) 02:49, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

A short Esperanzial update

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Missing page

=( you deleted my page titled 'mathematical calculations in cake' -- why?? The page does have meaning, it educates people as it shows them that maths can be found in simple things in life, such as cake. An interview has been carried out in the article to proove that not many people are aware that you can find maths in things as simple as cake and thus is why i have created this page to educate people about the glorious wonders of the invisible elements of maths amoung us! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.7.75.253 (talkcontribs)

Hi! Thanks for commenting on my talk page. Wikipedia has a policy of no original research, which the article used. Furthermore, a few users besides me have tagged the page for speedy deletion, which leads me to believe that perhaps you're just joking a bit with us ;) hoopydinkConas tá tú? 14:28, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

The Simpsons.

The edit I made here at this link WAS useful. Sitcom has been and can be spelled *Sitcomme* RainbowSprinkles Talk 15:38, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi! Please see this, for it will explain why I reverted your edits. Changing American English to British English and vice versa is not contributing to Wikipedia in a positive way and smacks of regionalism. hoopydinkConas tá tú? 16:41, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Re: Your recent edits to Boston College

I noticed the talk, but I still consider it sneaky vandalism even if that wasn't the user's intent. That title would only be used in lawsuits against the school, and the school never uses it in regular correspondence, so it has no value to the article. I'm not sure why Georgetown's article includes it, but Harvard's has something that is very different. - Pal 14:15, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi! Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism. - This is a passage from the first sentence of the second paragraph in Wikipedia's policy on vandalism. The anon edit was not vandalism, and, again, it was a valid edit. As such, I'm going to restore the edit. If you wish to continue the discussion, we should do so on the article's talk page (copied to BC's talk page and Pal's talk page) hoopydinkConas tá tú? 15:26, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Peter Gammons

He is going to die tomorrow, so lay off the edits. No hard feelings though, I didnt mean to step on any toes. PEACE — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tikimann (talkcontribs)

With the interest in my remaining civil, I'll just ask you to read up on some policy; Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. Don't make asinine and sadistic predictions as to when people are going to die. Also, look at the sources; you are most likely not a neurosurgeon, and even if you are, the ones that treated him said he was resting in intensive care, where he will remain for 10-12 days. Find something better to do with your time then inserting predicted death dates into an encyclopedia. hoopydinkConas tá tú? 02:15, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Look man, where do you get off telling me what to do with my time when you spend yours changing other peoples contibutions to Wikipedia? What I added to the Peter Gammons page will be useful at some point, even if you dont think so. Get over your GOD complex, and easy up. It was only meant as fun, so if you dont like it, change it, but dont talk done to me when you do. PEACE. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tikimann (talkcontribs)
Are you serious, dude? The info you added is not only unuseful, it's unabashedly sadistic and mean-spirited. When one enters the search term "Peter Gammons" into Google, it is the third page seen. Who knows how many people (yes, people, not faceless usernames and IP's on the internet) would have seen your nonsense and been extremely sad and grief-stricken at the "news". I don't have a God complex; you do, which is evident in you declaring when people are going to die. What's the worst, is that you think it's fun to get your kicks on the pain and suffering of others. When Mr. Gammons does eventually die, thousands of people will feel his loss, and you think it's fun... there are honestly no words to describe how perverse you're acting. And for the record, I spend my time on Wikipedia making beneficial contributions to the project, some of which include making sure that edits like yours don't ruin it. hoopydinkConas tá tú? 02:31, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
