Medal record |
Dafne Schippers (born 15 June 1992) is a Dutch athlete competing in heptathlon and the sprints.
Schippers won gold medals at the 2010 World Junior Championships in Athletics and 2011 European Athletics Junior Championships. A few years later also gold on the 100 m and bronze in the long jump at the 2013 European Athletics U23 Championships.
In 2011 in Daegu she broke the Dutch national record in 200 m. She is co-record holder in the 4 × 100 m relay. She improved the 200 m record during the 2014 edition of the heptathlon at the Hypo-Meeting in Götzis, her time of 22.35 being one of the best 200's ever in a heptathlon.[citation needed] Her success at the 2014 European Athletics Championships, where she won gold in 11.12 seconds, prompted discussion over her long-term prospects, whether she should focus on the (lucrative) sprint or continue her career in heptathlon.[1]
