Fawad Afzal Khan (born November 29, 1981) is a Pakistani singer, model and actor. He has established a successful career in Pakistani TV cinema.
Early life
Fawad Afzal Khan was born on November 29, 1981 in Karachi, Pakistan to a Punjabi family.[1][2][3] Due to the nature of his father's job, Khan's childhood was spent traveling place to place. He lived in Athens, Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Manchester during his youth.[1][2] When his father retired, Khan returned to Pakistan when he was 13 years old, now living in Lahore.[1][2] Khan did his A-levels from LGS Lahore and went on to complete his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST-NU) in Lahore.[2][4] At the young age of 13, Khan began his modeling career.[5] Fawad Khan made his acting debut onstage in a high school play, Manaal, which was directed by a friend of his, Manal Butt.[2][5][6] The play caught the attention of director Shahzad Anjum, who helped Khan enter into the media world.[2][6]
Career
Music
Initially, Entity and Paradigm were two separate bands that were active in Lahore's underground music scene. During the early 2000s, Ahmed Ali Butt, lead vocalist of Entity and Fawad Afzal Khan, lead vocalist of Paradigm, were working together for a popular television sitcom Jutt and Bond which aired on Indus Vision, it was then that the program's director suggested that the two bands collaborate on the title track for the show. Led by Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan, lead guitarist of Paradigm, the two bands collaborated and within a week recorded the title song "Hamein Aazma", which was played at the beginning and end of the show.[7] In early 2002, advertisements for Pepsi's Battle of the Bands began to air on television; the competition called upon entries of aspiring bands from all over Pakistan. Since neither Entity nor Paragidm had any of their independent releases or compilations on the record, they decided to send "Hamein Aazma" to the competition as a collaborative effort. It was during this time Entity Paradigm officially came into existence.[8] Entity Paradigm's first album, Irtiqa was released in 2003 and it received wide critical appreciation, especially the popular romantic track Rahguzar.[9] Khan came up with the songs Rahguzar, Waqt, Kahan Hai Tu and Hamein Aazma in the album.[10] In 2007, Khan quit the band, but later the band reunited in 2010 to performBolo Bolo in the third season of the popular TV music show Coke Studio.[2] Later in the same year, the band also released their patriotic single Shor Macha, which was written by Khan, Ahmed and Salman and recorded at The Albert Studios.[2][11]
