On 3 October, 23 soldiers were reportedly killed after a failed attempt to regain control over Deir al Adas.[6] The next day, rebels announced the start of a new battle called "wa al-Fajr wa Layali Asher", which aim was the capture of al-Harra town and its strategic hill and to besiege Army forces in al-Sanamin and its surrounding barracks.[7] That day, between 18 and 60 rebels were killed.[5][8] The next day, 19 soldiers and five rebels were killed on Tell Al-Harrah and at its radar base, while the situation remained unclear. SOHR reported rebels captured the hill,[2] while Al-Masdar claimed that the attack had been repelled.[8]

On 6 October, rebels captured the village of Zimrin and two checkpoints nearby.[1]
