Pethmakhama is a village situated at 2.5&nbsp;km distance from Magam town of Budgam district. The geographical location of Pethmakhama is 34.02 and 74.72 (latitude longitude). Pethmakhama follows its national [[time zone]] [[Indian standard time]] (IST). [[Kashmir]]i is [[native language]] for Pethmakhama people, besides [[Urdu]], [[English language|English]] is also spoken for official purposes.

It is a very vast about 3&nbsp;km and the neighbouring villages are Rathsoon, Hanjibugh, Bonmakhama, Aaripanthan, Badran and Paripora.

It is situated on the bank of the Sukhnag river and hosts the relic of islamic prophet [[Mohammad]] at the shrine of Shahi Hamdan.

During some special days a [[mela]] is celebrated and the beard hair of Mohammad is disclosed to the devotees every year.

Pethmakhama is an agricultural village and the people earn their livelihood from the needle based business ([[shawl]] work).

Besides there are well educated youth and Govt employees as well as private ones.

There is a big but unmanned sports ground which has often been used by the youth for the games like cricket, football, and volleyball.

Pethmakham has got a High School for Boys and a middle school for the girls besides some primary as well as some private institutions.

The road leading to Pethmakhama from Magam is a [[metalled]] one though [[deserting]] day by day.

It has got a general service of transport direct from Batmaloo and magam stands. Besides the LMVs like [[Sumos]] and [[Autorickshaws]] also keep ferrying the people all the day.

Apart from this the horse-driven carts ([[tonga]]z) are also a means of transport for the people.

Pethmakhama is throughout the year irrigated by fluent flowing waters of river Sukhnag.

The land on the banks of this river which is a tributary of river Jehlum has been devastated and barrened by major floods in the past.

But Pethmakhama is still an [[Economically efficient|economical]] village neither lagging behind to other villages of Budgam district nor too forward to the most

Besides New-Peth is also a new Mohalla towards the upper side of the Shrine of Shah Hamdan [[Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani]].

Presently Pethmakhama falls under the administrative division Tehsil Magam. Pethmakhama is located about 23 km West from district headquarters Budgam and about 28 km West from state capital Sinagar.
