Disambiguation link notification for December 2

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Vanessa Baden, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Georgia. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Redirects

May I ask why you keep ignoring WP:NOTBROKEN and MOS:NOPIPE (the latter of which is a guideline and part of the Manual of Style) in the "Pilot (Body of Proof)" article? - JuneGloom07 Talk 00:55, 17 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you continue to ignore WP:NOTBROKEN, also WP:SPECIFICLINK; therefore, Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 11:41, 19 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop violating WP:NOTBROKEN. —Granger (talk · contribs) 01:22, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not use styles that are unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Thank you. —Granger (talk · contribs) 13:20, 22 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. No reason to bypass the redirects

Hello,
I have noticed this modification. This is not compliant with several guidelines, see WP:NOTBROKEN and WP:SPECIFICLINK. They explain that redirects should be kept. In your modification, the previous link [[Emmy Awards]] was better than [[Emmy Award]] because it was more precise. Moreover, if [[Emmy Awards]] becomes an article about the Emmy ceremonies, the previous link would be OK whereas your new link would have to be corrected.
Several people have already mentioned redirects in your talk page. These guidelines reflect consensus. Do you intent to go to Wikipedia talk:Redirect to change the guidelines?
Regards --NicoScribe (talk) 21:40, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, have you seen my message? Your first edit after my message was to replace a redirect. --NicoScribe (talk) 09:06, 26 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I thank you for your answer in my talk page, but the discussion began here so it is simpler to continue it here. You wrote "I still just don't understand what the big deal is; I hate redirects & my edits should b helpful as I'm clearing most of them away to help clean these articles up. Why exactly does it matter so much?", but:
  1. Have you read WP:NOTBROKEN and WP:SPECIFICLINK?
  2. Why do you think that "Henson at the 1989 [[Emmy Award]]s" is better than "Henson at the 1989 [[Emmy Awards]]"?
  3. At least 5 users have already explained to you the benefits of redirects: JuneGloom07 in this edit on 17 August 2015, AnemoneProjectors in this edit on 17 August 2015, Redrose64 in this edit on 19 February 2017, Mx. Granger in this edit on 21 February 2017 + this edit on 22 February 2017 + this edit on 22 February 2017, me in this edit on 12 July 2017 and other users have reverted your edits with clear edit summaries. Have you read Wikipedia:Consensus?
--NicoScribe (talk) 17:54, 26 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I thank you for your answer in my talk page, but the discussion began here so I copy your last text here. You wrote: "OK, since it's quite clear that my primary concern as far as me editing Wikipedia is clearly seen as worthless & unhelpful & a complete waste of time & effort, I am outta here. I will NEVER make another single edit here again. Good day & good luck."
--NicoScribe (talk) 14:35, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
NicoScribe: I've blocked users before for consistently bypassing redirects when asked not to. I think there should be a series of warn templates relating to it. — anemoneprojectors 15:11, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Why are you telling me this? I told you before I'm gettin the hell outta here. Goodbye & good luck!! -- Grouches101 (Send a note then scram!! P.S. Have a rotten day!!!!) 12:14, 29 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Grouches101. You are continuing to replace redirects, even if your target is less precise than the previous target ([1], [2], [3], etc.), so I have to ask you again:
  1. Have you read WP:NOTBROKEN and WP:SPECIFICLINK?
  2. Why do you think that "Henson at the 1989 [[Emmy Award]]s" is better than "Henson at the 1989 [[Emmy Awards]]"?
  3. Have you read Wikipedia:Consensus?
  4. Do you intent to go to Wikipedia talk:Redirect to change the guidelines?
Regards --NicoScribe (talk) 17:58, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If this issue continues I think it is time to bring it to WP:ANI. Grouches101 has been warned plenty of times. —Granger (talk · contribs) 20:54, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Warning

You have been warned repeatedly by a number of editors to not "fix" links to redirects that are not broken. If you are unwilling to communicate with other editors to abide by the consensus, you may not be here to build an encyclopedia. Any further tendentious edits relating to bypassing redirects without a proper rationale will result in immediate sanction until you have addressed the current discussion about your editing behaviour. Thanks. Alex ShihTalk 16:00, 12 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. Some of your latest edits are certainly made in good faith, but there is a reason why there is a editing guideline that have been provided to you above. Address this discussion about your editing behavior before you make another bypass of redirects. Alex ShihTalk 23:50, 15 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your latest edit for instance, I see you are trying to improve the phrasing, and making good use of edit summary. This is a good example, although I didn't think the edit was necessary as "chosen" does not mean "official" either, and "in talks" is slightly close paraphrasing to the source. It is crucial that you communicate with other editors when there are questions being raised, or else even good faith will be discredited eventually if you don't follow the rules.
