Tagging of :Draft:Tropical Depression One-E (2020)
I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on :Draft:Tropical Depression One-E (2020). I do not think that Draft:Tropical Depression One-E (2020) fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because This seems to be a reasonable initial edit towards a possibly valid article , which is what drafts are for. If you wish, you may try using the simple proposed deletion (PROD) process, or the full articles for deletion (AfD) process, instead. <!-- Template:Speedy-Warn --> DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 16:43, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Tropical Storm Cristobal (2020). This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. 🐔 Chicdat ChickenDatabase 13:54, 4 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Chicdat: Can you please delete the draft article? Thanks, Destroyeraa (talk) 13:56, 4 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No. I'm not an admin. 🐔 Chicdat ChickenDatabase 16:14, 4 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Chicdat:Hurricanehink deleted the redirect, I believe. He moved the draft to the main article space. Thanks anyway for your help. I kinda got a bit impatient and wanted the draft to become an article so badly that I disregarded Wikipedia rules. Sorry. Destroyeraa (talk) 17:00, 4 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Editing and such

Hi there Destroyeraa, I've seen your edits lately, and I can tell you have a passion for tropical cyclones. I was wondering if you needed any help with editing, learning the ropes, how to make a good article, anything like that. Hopefully you're having fun editing :) Yea, there are a lot of rules, but you'll get the hang of things eventually (if you haven't already!) ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 13:35, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Hurricanehink: Thanks. Yes, I have fun editing, and time editing, especially during this pandemic. I appreciate your offer to help newish editors like me. If I have anything to ask you about, I will post it on your talk page. Destroyeraa 01:44, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yea, I've noticed a lot more editors these days! We can always use the help organizing all of the info about TCs. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 13:42, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the barnstar! I was curious, what aspect of tropical cyclones are you interested in? Any particular basin or time period? ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 15:05, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm interested in mainly Atlantic tropical cyclones, since I, like you, live on the Eastern coast of the United States. Destroyeraa 18:03, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Good thing the Atlantic has over 800 articles. There are tons of older storms that need work, and a handful in the past few years. Are you interested in improving articles to good article status? That's the goal for most articles, covering the important details of the storm and writing it out well. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 19:39, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Hurricanehink:Sure, which articles are stubs or starts and need improving? Can you post some links on my talk page? Destroyeraa 19:48, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
