:I assume you mean this book. I'm familiar with Hindu and Buddhist philosophy in general, but not with this book in particular. But discussions that don't concern changes to an article should be held in the user space, not on article talk pages. .I'll look into user space, I meant (being) as a practice/exercise in everyday living that philosophers might be working with today, thanks againArnlodg (talk) 14:39, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

Proposed merge of Collective mental state into Mental state

lead starts with Mental state; collective mental state easily belongs on target page Iztwoz (talk) 16:54, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Mental state is defined as mentation/thinking

Wiki needs mental state to have a definition and be cited at the get go, till a revision of the article is modernized, Arnlodg (talk) 00:28, 23 July 2021 (UTC) .Substitute mentation or thinking in first paragraph for "mental state" its not complicated, you'll see. have a good dayArnlodg (talk) 00:41, 23 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The source you cited ([1]) doesn't contain the term "mental state". Phlsph7 (talk) 06:21, 23 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

...That is the point, mental state is a phrase referencing thinking as attitudes of mentation...that thinking-mentation is a physical process like sensation and emotion even instinct-in the modern world now. My edit was to say mentation is about thinking while mental state in Wiki is about informal diagnosis in social conversation and hence could use 'definition' at it's start. The world changes one step at at a time, thanksArnlodg (talk) 14:05, 23 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

These seem to be your personal opinions. But the article should be based on reliable sources. Have a look at the section "Definition", it is well sourced and goes into detail on different approaches to defining mental states. Phlsph7 (talk) 19:52, 23 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I assume you mean this book. I'm familiar with Hindu and Buddhist philosophy in general, but not with this book in particular. But discussions that don't concern changes to an article should be held in the user space, not on article talk pages. Phlsph7 (talk) 04:20, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

.I'll look into user space, I meant (being) as a practice/exercise in everyday living that philosophers might be working with today, thanks againArnlodg (talk) 14:39, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
