Girish Gangadharan is an Indian cinematographer known for his work in Malayalam and Tamil films. He is the recipient of National Film Award for Best Cinematography for his work in the 2019 film Jallikkattu directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery.

Career

Girish completed his cinematography course from the Government Film and Television Institute Bengaluru 2008 Batch and started assisting Sameer Thahir. His first independent work was for Sameer Thahir's movie Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi following the notable works Guppy, Angamaly Diaries, Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil and Jallikattu. He rose to fame after the 11 minute single long take for the climax of Angamaly Diaries. He captured long takes in the movie Jallikattu also.[1][2] In 2016, he won the Kerala State Film Award – Special Mention for the movie Guppy. In 2021,he won the National Film Award for Best Cinematography for the film Jallikattu. [3][4]
