I want this to become a featured article so that more recognition can be done for this game, especially in June 24, 2023, the aniversary of its international release! [[User:Therealgamer1234|Therealgamer1234]] ([[User talk:Therealgamer1234|talk]]) 03:13, 15 June 2023 (UTC)

X's voice

BTW, while exploring the Japanese article of X (Mega Man) I found this: commentary about X having a voice in his first game is mentioned as one of the weirdest things ever in gaming but I couldn't understand much what do they say even by translating with Google. Could you give a look if possible? It appears they don't mention it is Megumi Ogata but there is quite of a big deal about it.Tintor2 (talk) 22:11, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the review. Especially due to all those PC sources.Tintor2 (talk) 22:57, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The article went GA :) I was thinking about the dual character of Nier based on how critics compare how their appeals are different depending on region, but I'm not sure if there are scholars enough too based on the current requirements to make a character article. In the case you find something and don't wanna work on it, feel free to send me the link. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 22:29, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Tintor2: In response to this, the entire section you deleted, and any further character articles, I'm of the opinion that all editors including us too need to tap the breaks on creating individual character articles. It's becoming a serious problem in terms of notability, clutter, bloat, and the fact that going deep enough into the internet can bring up anything. --ProtoDrake (talk) 22:43, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'll be testing in in the sandbox. After a minor search I found several commentaries at least for the father version involving two scholars. I'll later see if I can find more about the brother. Honestly, I think 9S has far more potential but I'm more interested in creating an article about original Nier since there is so much commentary about how the design changed per region. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 19:40, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

So I kinda created Protagonist (Nier) after some research. Apparently, the reception was okay to PresN so I decided to give it a try. Feel free to revise anything you find bad. In fact I'm not sure if the title is kinda well considering KungfuMan told me that in a CD Drama he is actually called Nier. I managed to find interviews with the three English voice actors but the Japanese ones seem harder. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 22:08, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Another Windows port I can't find

Hi there. As Mega Man X5 became GA, I'm trying to expand the next game, Mega Man X6, but just like X4 I can't find a source about its Windows port. Apparently, it was only released in Asia but I don't know if it's necessary for Wikipedia unless it's Japan. Would you give it a look? Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 00:53, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Tintor2:, I've found absolutely nothing confirming any PC port was ever released in Japan. As for South Korea, these archived Koko Capcom pages this and this capture confirm the original South Korean release date, and that between 2003 and 2004 it was given an official PC release. I can't find any dates related to the PC version. --ProtoDrake (talk) 09:43, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks.Tintor2 (talk) 13:54, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A fansite found it as the "The Obscure Mega Man X6 PC Port Has Been Preserved" It links me to this article but I don't know if this mention is copyrighted.Tintor2 (talk) 14:18, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Tintor2: I'd found those, but I wasn't counting them as they don't provide secondary sources and seem to parrot Wikia date information. I've encountered stuff like this on other articles, citogenesis caused by additions to a wiki, be it Wikipedia or a Wikia. I double-checked EA's Japanese website at the time, and found nothing, and as to the port developer I can't find their website or independently verify what the Archive emulation page says as fact. --ProtoDrake (talk) 14:46, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Extra bit. I found this source for the Japanese PC publisher Sourcenext, which confirms both the existence and date for the PC version of MegaX5, and the existence and release date for the release of MegaX8. --ProtoDrake (talk) 14:46, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Knights Contract

On 20 May 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Knights Contract, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the team developing the action video game Knights Contract researched European folklore on witches and witch hunts? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Knights Contract. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Knights Contract), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Drakengard character articles

Something I was thinking about at work, but I know User:Tintor2 posted a Nier Protagonist article, and as far as I know might be trying 9S at some point. With that list restored would a Good Topic be worth pursuing?-- Kung Fu Man (talk) 19:39, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There are some google scholars who analyze the mental breakdown the character goes through. Another user was the one who told me about 9S but saddly is busy in real life. I'm not sure about creating it myself though. Still from Yoko Taro's games, I only played Nier and Automata so I have no knowledge about Drakengard. By the way, about Protodrake's contributions to Shadow Hearts, I sometimes see some articles that kinda focus on Yuri but I never finished the second game.Tintor2 (talk) 19:47, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Kung Fu Man and Tintor2: I once pondered a GT for Drakengard/Nier, either individually or as a combined franchise, but that petered out. I'd be interested in attempting that again (Reincarnation's showing signs of closing out, and Yoko's said the series is currently finished, so...). And Tintor2, as to Yuri...I really don't want to disrupt the Shadow Hearts GT. It's a dead series, there's barely any commentary on Yuri's creation or design, and the reception would be paltry since there's barely any actual comment on him specifically in reviews. It would be contributing to the current bloat of character articles, which isn't what's needed right now. --ProtoDrake (talk) 20:27, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I see. About the Nier protagonist, I don't know if we should include it but Yoko Taro kinda talked about whether or not he has a name. I'm pretty sure we can't use the blog as a reliable source but they appear to link a Japanese tweet. Also about the protagonist, I couldn't find information about his three Japanese voice actors in regards to the portrayal like the English one so the article might lack this tidbit.Tintor2 (talk) 21:04, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Tintor2: I'll probably get round to the Nier protagonist some other time. At the moment I'm drafting up a rewrite/expansion of Galidor: Defenders of the Outer Dimension, plus three GANs, so kinda busy. --ProtoDrake (talk) 21:30, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox claims its an American co-production. I can see no evidence for, or verification of, this. (Just because it aired on Fox Kids doesn't mean it was an "American" production.) Is there any evidence of actual American involvement with (IOW, U.S. financing of) this show? Or is it, in fact, just a Canadian series that also aired in the U.S.?... Thanks. --IJBall (contribstalk) 23:23, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@IJBall: Since Tom Lynch Company is an American company, I was defaulting to calling it a co-production. It can just go, it's not important. --ProtoDrake (talk) 23:25, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@IJBall: Also, thanks for the little edits and tidying. I've only ever done anime up to now, a Western television series (let alone this one) is entirely new for me. --ProtoDrake (talk) 23:27, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, OK, Lynch is American. But I think "Tom Lynch Company" is basically a showrunner's "vanity label". IOW, Lynch likely didn't put up any money himself – he just gets production credit as the showrunner.
I'm going to ping Geraldo Perez to take a look at this, as this is something he (and I) have seen before, and I'd like his opinion on this... --IJBall (contribstalk) 23:29, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Tom Lynch Company looks to be more than a vanity label for the show runner. It is not just financing, it is also creative control that matters. CinéGroupe's involvement looks to be animation only with creative control being the Tom Lynch Company. Geraldo Perez (talk) 00:18, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Square (video game company)

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Square (video game company) you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Your GA nomination of Code Age Brawls

The article Code Age Brawls you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Code Age Brawls for comments about the article, and Talk:Code Age Brawls/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. Message delivered by ChristieBot, on behalf of Shooterwalker -- Shooterwalker (talk) 02:42, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I hear you work on series articles. If I need to, may I ping you for input on this article's GA nomination? I've not done a GA review or nomination of a series article, so I'd like to ensure that I don't get it wrong.

Also did you see the Dragon Quest Monsters trailer - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 03:36, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Cukie Gherkin: Depends what you mean by input, as I've got a potential conflict of interest here. I worked extensively on the articles for Panzer Dragoon Zwei and Orta, and even tried bringing them to GA (Orta failed spectacularly and I dropped the concept). I'm not comfortable guiding the process of something with which I have such a close connection due to that potential bias. Helping correct points brought up in the review, I could possibly do that as any nominator would, but no more. (also no, and I've very little interest in DQ in general) --ProtoDrake (talk) 08:10, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I've undergone work to bring Lego City Undercover to GA, and plan to nominate it soon, and since you are a major contributor I'm informing you of this. if you wanted to make any other improvements or stake your claim on the nomination page. Panini! 🥪 05:22, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
