Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

  • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
  • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
  • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
  • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

All pages indefinitely semi-protected and indefinitely pending protected simultaneously

Y in the world ® there 🔟s of pages/articles both indefinitely pending and semi-protected @ the same time? Shouldn't there be only 1️⃣ type of protection? Please fix them.197.0.93.65 (talk) 01:44, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm inclined to remove PCP from all of them. I find that PCP creates more burden for regular editors than the protection is worth. However, I believe the reason is that if semiprotection were removed, then pending would still be there. ~Anachronist (talk) 03:41, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That logic is more sound on pages that are only temporarily semi'd, since once the semi lapses CRASHlock can pick up the slack at that point. At least, that's the theory. Indef both of them makes no damned sense. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v Source assessment notes 03:49, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. The PC can be removed as housekeeping on all these. Removing the semi would be a choice to downgrade protection. Courcelles (talk) 04:19, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
While I agree the fact that many pages above need pending changes reset, some of them do actually need a downgrade. Meanwhile, I suppose that some others no longer need any type of protection. I am not certain what the heck those articles would be thus they ® up to the admins to figure them out. I think that several pages need to be discussed first regarding the next edit- and move-protection situation before any action is taken.197.0.93.65 (talk) 05:11, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I would imagine it would be up to the discretion of the responding admin. Both semi and CRASHlock can be handled here; they don't need to all be handled the exact same way. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v Source assessment notes 06:36, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
However, several protecting admins, including samsara and mark Arsten, ® no longer active on wikipedia. Therefore, rendering such situation even more challenging.197.0.94.99 (talk) 06:48, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
