The 81st Golden Globe Awards will honor the best in film and American television of 2023. The ceremony will be held on January 7, 2024, from The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, produced by Dick Clark Productions, Ricky Kirshner, and Glenn Weiss; the latter will also serve as director.[1][2][3] This is the first ceremony after Dick Clark Productions and Eldridge Industries took full control of the Golden Globes from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.[1] The ceremony will also be the first to air live in the United States on CBS for the first time since 1982 and to stream on Paramount+ for the first time ever.[1]

The nominees will be announced on December 11, 2023.[4]

Ceremony information

This will be the first Golden Globes ceremony after the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) disbanded in 2023. On June 12, 2023, HFPA announced that all of its rights and properties related to the Golden Globes were acquired by Dick Clark Productions and Eldridge Industries.[5]

On September 26, 2023, it was announced that two new categories will be added for the upcoming ceremony: "Cinematic and Box Office Achievement" and "Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television" (also known as "Best Stand-Up Comedian on Television").[6] This decision has received backlash from some media outlets.[7][8][9]

CBS replaced NBC as the Golden Globes' longtime U.S. broadcast partner. Dick Clark Productions wanted to move the ceremony back to Sunday nights, and after dealing with conflicts with NBC Sunday Night Football for the past few years, CBS will air the ceremony after its afternoon football coverage.[1][2]
