If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

• To list a technical request: the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:

  This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
• If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
• If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

  "primary topic claims are de facto controversial". I have never heard of such a rule, and it sounds pretty bogus to me. This is a very clear uncontroversial primary topic - the Kursk locality is both much larger and also leads substantially on page views so this move should just go ahead unless a genuine non-procedural objection is raised.  — Amakuru (talk) 17:21, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

  Whatever, I'm not the one who started this "rule". By the way, have you even read WP:PRIMARYTOPIC recently? The way it's worded confirms my concern that ... the whole "primary topic" concept in itself is controversial. And who knows ... during the course of a full move request, someone could provide some evidence that goes above and beyond whatever the request here states. Either way, this is not a "technical" request per the purpose of this page. (But go figure, the first day I have the encouragement to work on this page again after a few months, and someone snaps at me. WTFE.) Steel1943 (talk) 22:12, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

  I was not intending to snap, and of course the bar for contesting an RM/TR request is intentionally low, so if you really want your week in court with this one then I can't really stop you. But equally, if I see objections claiming a convention that "primary topic claims are de facto controversial", I'm not going to balk at querying that because I don't think that's at all the case. My intention was not to offend you, and if I did so I apologise. We routinely process moves to a primary topic or from a primary topic to no primary topic at this page. WP:PRIMARYTOPIC simply asserts that the concept exists on Wikipedia, and criteria commonly used to assess them. Where a move to a primary topic is clear and obvious (as seems to me to be the case here) any editor can boldly make that move, or indeed request it here. • Young adult fiction (currently a redirect to Young adult literature) → Young-adult literature (currently a redirect instead to Young adult literature) (move · discuss) – We hyphenate adjective phrases on Wikipedia and the scope is "literature" not fiction. For instance, the page includes the "novel" 61 times and the word "film" only once, so it is far and away about a particular type of fiction: written fiction AKA literature.   @Wolfdog: Addition of a hyphen to the title has been reverted twice: in 2016 and in 2007. Those moves, particularly for the 2007 reason, lead me to believe that this is potentially controversial and should be proposed via a requested-move discussion, which you can open by pressing "discuss" on your request. There was also a 2007 move from "literature" to "fiction". SilverLocust 💬 20:06, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

• Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens (currently a redirect to Mercer Botanic Gardens) → Mercer Botanic Gardens (move · discuss) – Harris County separated the gardens (now managed by Harris County Precinct 3) from the arboretum (now managed by Harris County Precinct 1) in 2022.
