Muudea Sedik (December 17, 2000 – c. February 9, 2024), better known as Twomad, was a Canadian YouTuber and live streamer.

Sedik was known for his video-game comedy videos and his over-the-top and often awkward comedic style. He accumulated over two million subscribers and two hundred million views across multiple accounts on YouTube, and had a sizable following on other social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter).

Early life and education

Muudea Sedik was born on December 17, 2000 in Winnipeg, Canada, where he was also raised.[2] He was of Ethiopian descent.[3]

As a child, Sedik became interested in video games like the Halo franchise, especially Halo 3. He later attended West Kildonan Collegiate high school where he claimed to have gotten into frequent fights with other students. He dropped out of high school at around age 17 after earning money on his first YouTube videos.[4][better source needed][5]

As a teenager, Sedik sold guides on Hack Forums and earned enough money to purchase his first computer.[3]

Career and content

Sedik began editing videos and later created his channel in 2016 focused on MLG parody montages.[5] His username was inspired by Counter-Strike YouTuber LOLYOU1337.[3] At 15, he made an Overwatch comedy video titled "Nerf Lucio" which he credited as his "big break" after posting the video on Reddit.[5]

Sedik became popular in 2017 for his over-the-top and often awkward comedic style in his videos.[6][7][8]

Influence

After the death of American streamer Etika, Sedik credited him as being a major influence and inspiration to him, he was his favourite YouTuber and wanted to be just like him.[9][10]

Twitch

In April 2019, Sedik challenged a viewer on Twitch to climb the statue of Abraham Lincoln at the Lincoln Memorial and catch a bottle thrown above the statue; the viewer was arrested and Sedik was banned from Twitch for unspecified reasons later that year.[11][12]

BTS

In 2019, Sedik started focusing his pranks around South Korean band BTS.[13] In 2021, he released a video going to a BTS concert held at the SoFi Stadium while wearing an Asian conical hat and holding a photoshopped picture of band member V as Mao Zedong while claiming the picture depicted his father.[14][15] The same year, Sedik released a video parodying band member Jimin by wearing whiteface and a blond wig while purchasing the BTS McDonald's meal with his fans.[13][15]

Zoom bombings

Sedik gained further popularity in 2020 for his Zoom bombings, where Sedik would request Zoom meeting links or passwords from his followers on social media, and would broadcast the subsequent invasions live. Sedik's antics made him a popular subject for various Internet memes, particularly among Generation Z.[7]

Personal life and controversies

Sedik was Muslim.[16] In June 2023, Sedik posted a tweet referring to Brianna Ghey, a transgender girl who was murdered in England, as his "girlfriend". Sedik deleted the tweet the next day and had claimed to have been unaware of who Ghey was.[17] In July 2023, a cosplayer obtained a Civil Harassment Restraining Order against Sedik for allegations of sexual misconduct which he denied.[18]

Death

On February 13, 2024, the Los Angeles Police Department conducted a welfare check on Sedik after he had not been heard from in several days. He was found dead in his Los Angeles residence and an investigation is currently ongoing. Authorities speculate that Sedik died of a drug overdose.[17][19] He was 23 years old.[18]
