:* Powering Agrifood Value Chains - a project which aimed to increase the productive use of renewable energy in the food-producing agricultural sector. If you need 'aimed' to make it more neutral, please. The projects mentioned here in 2016 were all projects that have now been completed. If you want more citations or anything else, please let me know and I can add them.

Merger proposal

Propose to merge articles on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership and REEEP as same thing. Beagel 16:36, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done. This has evidently been done. RobbieIanMorrison (talk) 08:16, 29 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Gobldegook and jargon

Really terrible article full of PR lingo and pseudo-intelligent nonsense. I cleaned it up but can't be bothered wading through it all properly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by OddsBodkins (talkcontribs) 09:08, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I got rid of the whole middle section. This was left some years ago, much before my time. However, I find this comment quite shocking! I am quite appalled that Wikipedia editors themselves have very little dedication to accuracy if they ''can't be bothered wading through'' content on the site. Updates 2024

Full disclosure - I am the Communications Manager. I want to update the page and remove the outdated jargon and information and update the logo. Erinstewart-REEEP (talk) 13:24, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for disclosing! I've corrected your disclosure and added the proper banner to this page. ~ Eejit43 (talk) 16:06, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is advisable to use the request edit system with the template {{edit COI}} rather than edit the article directly. Theroadislong (talk) 20:50, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It says ''Go to the article's Talk page and click the New section tab. Add and fill in the following:''
Where is the 'new section' tab`? There is 'add topic' only.
If you do 'add topic' but there is no option to add citations to the article. Erinstewart-REEEP (talk) 07:30, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Clicking "add topic" will start a new section and then you follow the instructions at {{edit COI}}. Theroadislong (talk) 08:21, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, the instructions are incorrect, but I found it. Nevertheless, it is only possible to suggest edits and not add citations. Erinstewart-REEEP (talk) 08:25, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You can add your sources, changes will not be made without them. Theroadislong (talk) 08:43, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
but how? the citation quotes are not available here. If you copy paste text from a page that has sources, they disappear. Case in point, this paragraph has several sources on the main page:
REEEP was originally launched by the government of the United Kingdom, along with other partners, at the Johannesburg World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in August 2002. Since 2004 it has been headquartered at the United Nations Office in Vienna and is supported by the Government of Austria among others.
I copy pasted it here, the sources are gone, there are no quote marks in the tools to add citations. Erinstewart-REEEP (talk) 08:48, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You shouldn't be copy pasting anything, the source can be found in your browser address bar if your source is on line, if it's abook just give the details, title, publisher, author, page number. Theroadislong (talk) 08:57, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You just deleted a bunch of text that has been on the page for years, I did not add that recently. I want to update that section accurately, please dont just bin it entirely Erinstewart-REEEP (talk) 08:59, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I copy pasted it as an example, not literally - i wanted to show you it is not possible to add sources in the talk page and the sources dissapear when you add them here Erinstewart-REEEP (talk) 09:00, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What i'm getting at is the option to add sources is not here - if you do it on the main page it gives you the whole block to fill in with the details, title, publisher, author, page number, and most of the time it automatically does it for you. not possible here! Erinstewart-REEEP (talk) 09:02, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And now you have added back all the promotional material that was removed, you are being paid by Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership, you should NOT be editing the article directly. Theroadislong (talk) 09:04, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I wanted to suggest edits to it here, but i can't suggest edits if the text is gone Erinstewart-REEEP (talk) 09:06, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In the first phase of its existence (2002-2014) REEEP acted largely as a re-granting institution, funding nearly 200 projects. The majority have targeted emerging markets such as India, China, South Africa and Brazil.
This for example, is not promotional material, it is what REEEP did in the first 15 years. I would suggest taking out the italics on re-granting. I would also suggest removing 'interventions' from the section title and renaming it more neutrally. Erinstewart-REEEP (talk) 09:08, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Inappropriate marketing content by paid editor - written in 2016, discovered in 2024

This is an encyclopaedia it is not your marketing tool, content like ”to stimulate markets for off-grid electrification solutions in Zambia”, “project to accelerate market-based solutions for energy-related investment”, “promoting sustainable consumption and production (SCP) practices and patterns.”, “furthers improvements and efficiency gains in the global climate knowledge system.’ is blatant marketing and has no place here. Theroadislong (talk) 09:11, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is all content that has been sitting on this page since 2016 - this was not done by me. Erinstewart-REEEP (talk) 09:19, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It was added back by you? Theroadislong (talk) 09:21, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So that I could suggest edits to it on this page. You deleted the whole section that talked about what REEEP did from 2002-2016. I want to constructively suggest edits to it on this page, but I need the section there in order to suggest edits. Erinstewart-REEEP (talk) 09:26, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please, we are an NGO working to provide renewable energy in low and middle income countries. I am not trying to use Wikipedia as a marketing tool. It was massively outdated so I already deleted a huge chunk that sounded very marketing-y. My goal is to update this neutrally and with current information - I will suggest the edits here as requested, but I can only suggest edits to existing content if you do not delete it. These are programmes we did, I will suggest ways of describing them more neutrally than whoever wrote them in 2016. Erinstewart-REEEP (talk) 09:25, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
REEEP's completed projects include:
  • Beyond the Grid Fund for Zambia - a major fund which financially supported local private sector energy service providers to provide renewable energy, which resulted in over one million people connected to energy in Zambia.
  • Powering Agrifood Value Chains - a project to increase the productive use of renewable energy in the food-producing agricultural sector.
  • Climate Change, Clean Energy and Urban Water Works in Southern Africa - a joint REEEP-UNIDO project which aimed to increase private sector investment in renewable energy to improve municipal water works in Southern Africa.
  • SWITCH Africa Green - a project with the United Nations Environment Programme which aimed to support African countries to adopt sustainable consumption and production (SCP) practices. https://www.unep.org/switchafricagreen/
Erinstewart-REEEP (talk) 09:41, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest the edits above, keeping the sources already referred to on the Wikipedia page. Erinstewart-REEEP (talk) 09:44, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • What I think should be changed:

REEEP's completed projects include:

Beyond the Grid Fund for Zambia - a major fund to stimulate markets for off-grid electrification solutions in Zambia[7] Powering Agrifood Value Chains - a project to develop evidence-based intervention guidance for energy utilisation in the food-producing agricultural sector.[12] Climate Change, Clean Energy and Urban Water Works in Southern Africa - a joint REEEP-UNIDO project to accelerate market-based solutions for energy-related investment to improve municipal water works in Southern Africa.[13] SWITCH Africa Green - a project to support African countries in their transition to an Inclusive Green Economy and promoting sustainable consumption and production (SCP) practices and patterns.[14] Climate Knowledge Brokers Group - a community of practice that furthers improvements and efficiency gains in the global climate knowledge system.[15]

  • Why it should be changed: to make it more neutral:

REEEP's completed projects include: Beyond the Grid Fund for Zambia - a major fund which financially supported local private sector energy service providers to provide renewable energy, which resulted in over one million people connected to energy in Zambia. Powering Agrifood Value Chains - a project to increase the productive use of renewable energy in the food-producing agricultural sector. Climate Change, Clean Energy and Urban Water Works in Southern Africa - a joint REEEP-UNIDO project which aimed to increase private sector investment in renewable energy to improve municipal water works in Southern Africa. SWITCH Africa Green - a project with the United Nations Environment Programme which aimed to support African countries to adopt sustainable consumption and production (SCP) practices.
