Revision as of 00:41, 18 June 2024
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Uncontroversial technical requests
- Essad Toptani (politician) (currently a redirect to Essad Toptani) → Essad Toptani (move · discuss) – There is no need for a bracket as there is no other person named "Essad Toptani" on Wikipedia. Shqiptër4 (talk) 12:40, 18 June 2024 (UTC)
- Darracq and Company London → STD Motors (currently a redirect back to Darracq and Company London) (move · discuss) – WP:COMMONNAME, was the company's name for nearly half of its life, including its last 15 years. Mpw008 (talk) 01:49, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
- The page was at Darracq until an undiscussed move in 2016,and I think reverting to that might be a good idea as a simple concise name. Probably worth an RM anyway. — Amakuru (talk) 06:55, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
- Farooqui dynasty → Khandesh Sultanate (currently a redirect back to Farooqui dynasty) (move · discuss) – The article is mostly about the state, not the ruling dynasty. Also keeping in line with other related similar articles such as Bengal Sultanate, Gujarat Sultanate and Malwa Sultanate. PadFoot2008 03:28, 16 June 2024 (UTC)
- Muhammad Maharvi (currently a redirect to Noor Muhammad Maharvi) → Khawaja Noor Muhammad Maharvi (currently a redirect instead to Noor Muhammad Maharvi) (move · discuss) – That is the correct name for that person Alragon1 (talk) 07:40, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
- Blackpool North railway station → Blackpool North station (currently a redirect back to Blackpool North railway station) (move · discuss) – Connected tram stop has opened and changing the suffix to station is common practice for UK rail pages. Unsure of why Wikipedia is refusing to let me move it. Bobster1001 (talk) 15:14, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
- Looking at other similar articles "railway station" seems to be more common. Bensci54 (talk) 16:09, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
- But that is only because almost all UK railway stations only serve National Rail mainline services. Meanwhile, the railway station of Blackpool North connects to the tram network, so that is why 'railway' is removed. See Manchester Victoria station and East Croydon station. See WP:UKSTATION. JuniperChill (talk) 19:13, 17 June 2024 (UTC)

Requests to revert undiscussed moves
- Eleventh five-year plan (currently a redirect to Eleventh Five-Year Plan) → Eleventh five-year plan (China) (move · discuss) – Necessary disambiguation from similarly named Soviet and Indian five-year plans was removed without discussion (ambiguous title should be retargeted to the disambiguation page with a differently capitalized variant of that title) –Gluonz talk contribs 00:41, 18 June 2024 (UTC)

Contested technical requests
- Liège (Chamber of Representatives constituency) → Liège (former Chamber of Representatives constituency) (move · discuss) – Split article into two - one that existed until 2003 and covered the Arrondissement of Liège and another that has existed since 2003 and covers Liège Province Obi2canibe (talk) 22:18, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
- Note that this is not the correct place to propose a split. See WP:PROSPLIT for the proper procedure. Also, I'm not sure why this requires a move? Can't you just move the historical content over to the "former" article, creating that article off of the redirect? Bensci54 (talk) 16:42, 13 June 2024 (UTC)
- The bulk of the content relates to the former constituency. I wanted to preserve the edit history rather than cut and paste as you've suggested.--Obi2canibe (talk) 18:56, 13 June 2024 (UTC)
- Do the two have significantly different borders? If not, I think it's standard practice to leave them as one page. — Amakuru (talk) 07:21, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, the two constituencies are significantly different. This map shows the arrondissement (old constituency) within the province (new constituency). The area of the constituency increased from 797 km2 to 3,857 km2. The electorate increased from 400,000 to 725,000.--Obi2canibe (talk) 18:22, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- 5→9 From Five to Nine → From Five to Nine (currently a redirect back to 5→9 From Five to Nine) (move · discuss) – Per MOS:JAPAN#Titles of media, "5→9" is just a stylization for "From Five to Nine." lullabying (talk) 07:20, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Lullabying Because this article has been discussed, we will need another discussion in this case to change the title again. Feel free to click the "discuss" link above and add your rationale if you wish to continue. ASUKITE 13:29, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
- Atakapa → Atakapa-Ishak (currently a redirect back to Atakapa) (move · discuss) – The people refer to themselves as the "Ishak" not the Atakapa, per https://64parishes.org/entry/ishak-indigenous-people MiniYaChi (talk) 21:29, 13 June 2024 (UTC)
- There is nothing wrong with using an exonym if it is the common name. 162 etc. (talk) 16:00, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
- This was a controversial move, so I reverted it. Yuchitown (talk) 17:49, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
- The people are referred to as the Atakapa, the Ishak, and the Atakapa-Ishak. Referring to them as simply Atakapa or Ishak doesn't make since in that context. As well, they are referred to Atakapa-Ishak by media sources (https://www.texasobserver.org/mapping-indigenous-communities-of-texas-atakapa-ishak/, https://64parishes.org/keyword/atakapa-ishak-nation) and by the major tribal organization (https://www.atakapa-ishaknationofswla.org/). MiniYaChi (talk) 19:49, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
- In addition, I changed the proposed move to Atakapa-Ishak, which is currently a redirect. MiniYaChi (talk) 19:49, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
- There is nothing wrong with using an exonym if it is the common name. 162 etc. (talk) 16:00, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
- Nippon TV (currently a redirect to Nippon Television) → Nippon Television (move · discuss) – Official full name, since the page for their NNS network uses their full name, not the short name. VenezuelanSpongeBobFan2004 (talk) 01:00, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
- Wikipedia uses COMMONNAME, not official name. 162 etc. (talk) 15:59, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
- Straza → Straža (currently a redirect back to Straza) (move · discuss) – correct name AndrejJ (talk) 16:05, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
- This is a disambiguation page listing multiple topics, Stráža and Straża, for example, have different diacritics. 162 etc. (talk) 18:20, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
- I agree that the current spelling is more appropriate per 162 etc. Nosferattus (talk) 03:33, 16 June 2024 (UTC)
- I likewise agree with the arguments presented by 162 etc. and Nosferattus. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 23:29, 16 June 2024 (UTC)

- AmpLive → Amp Live (currently a redirect back to AmpLive) (move · discuss) – Article and other online media calls him Amp Live, with the space. Could not find a source spelling it AmpLive. User:Roastedbeanz1 (talK) 2:24, 16 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Roastedbeanz1: There are 9 sources in the article that spell it without the space: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], and [6] use "Amplive" and [7], [8], and [9] use "AmpLive". An argument could be made for "Amplive", so this should probably be discussed on the talk page before moving. Please click the "discuss" link in your request above to open a discussion. --Ahecht (TALK

- Farhang Khosro Panah (currently a redirect to Farhang Khosropanah) → Farhang Khosropanah (move · discuss) – The surname is just one word, shouldn't be space between them, source Sports2021 (talk) 00:17, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
- I would contest the move since there are more reliable sources that say "Khosro Panah" than "Khosropanah". Sports2021, are there any more English sources that say "Khosropanah"? ToadetteEdit! 17:21, 16 June 2024 (UTC)
- @ToadetteEdit: "panah" is a suffix, not a separate word. one source put a space between them and the others simply cope/pasted the same mistake. but OK if you insist to "contest" the move, check the official report of that Olympic. page 437. </nowiki>Sports2021 (talk) 17:48, 16 June 2024 (UTC)
