Legislative districts of Davao del Norte

I really like your articles on the legislative districts of the Philippines. Great job! I'm currently making a map showing all the districts (with an inset for Metro Manila), even daring to include Kalayaan municipality in the Spratlys. It won't be finished though until I figure out how to properly divide Maguindanao/Shariff Kabunsuan, Caloocan, Antipolo, Parañaque and Davao City, as well as the new divisions in Taguig-Pateros, Zamboanga Sibugay and Sultan Kudarat.

I found just one error so far in the articles, in Davao del Norte. According to this COMELEC Resolution, San Isidro belongs to the same district as that of its mother municipalities, Asuncion and Kapalong (DDN's 1st district). The NSCB adds a bit of confusion, as it still displays the incorrect designations for the two districts of the province. I could've moved it myself but I'm afraid of making errors in the population figures. Keep up the good work! Dakilang Isagani 03:52, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for posting all those resources! I've come across the Parañaque and Davao maps, but the former is dubious in terms of the exact border delineation and the latter is not to scale. Also, I've been really racking my brains out trying to remember the map site that had barangay borders - I'm very glad you shared the link! I'll try to have the congressional district map(s) ready by next week.
By the way, just a general rambling: Isn't it peculiar that Cotabato City still falls under the label of "1st District of Maguindanao"? I mean, San Jose del Monte and Antipolo both have their names on their district designations even though they are merely component cities of Bulacan and Rizal respectively. Why the COMELEC made an exception to an independent component city boggles me. -- Dakilang Isagani 02:29, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The maps are almost finished, with just minor adjustments for Davao City and Metro Manila pending. I came across the COMELEC's Education and Information Department website that had this document. It divides Pasig and Pasay into two districts each. Are these among the newer congressional districts created since the last election? By the way, the document does not divide Taguig and Marikina into districts, although Parañaque and Valenzuela were. Dakilang Isagani 00:30, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Map of the legislative districts of the Philippines

Here's the coloured version of the legislative districts map that I've been working on. The provincial and relevant city boundaries are thicker than the intra-provincial/city district boundaries.

File:Legislative districts of the Philippines (coloured).png

What do you think? --- Dakilang Isagani 05:23, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if the locator maps I made for individual districts would be up to the high standard set by Coffee for Philippine regions, provinces, cities and municipalities. I need your opinion/suggestions on how to improve them. Take a look at samples of my district locator maps:
CALOOCAN CITY

This one's fairly easy on the eyes, methinks. By the way, should I remove the text explaining the Philippines' territorial disputes over Scarborough Shoal, Kalayaan and Sabah?
ANTIPOLO CITY

I think this district is the smallest in terms of land area outside of Metro Manila. I can make individual province/city maps with municipal/barangay boundaries but that would take at least until the end of summer to entirely accomplish.
By the way, thank you very much for the barnstar! I really appreciate it. --- Dakilang Isagani 07:05, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also, according to the COMELEC document I mentioned before, the two barangays of Post Proper Northside and Southside still belong to Makati's 2nd Congressional District, as R.A. 8487 did not mention these barangays as part of the new legislative district of Taguig yet (the RTC ruling was in 2003, the Republic Act was signed on February 1998). I took these into account on the maps I've made so far. --- Dakilang Isagani 07:34, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It'd be awesome if you could find out for sure whether those two barangays are indeed part of the congressional district of Taguig City, before I multpily the mistakes. I think it would require another RA to amend the original Taguig cityhood charter to include the barangays in dispute to the district. In the meantime, those barangays are now administratively part of Taguig City. I would think that residents would now vote for city officials (executive branch of government) of Taguig but not congressional representatives (legislative branch) of Taguig yet. --- Dakilang Isagani 20:16, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Will do. ;-) Only that it might take a few more days, I hope that's OK. In the following weeks I might be able to only make the district locator maps for Metro Manila, with the others to be made in the summer. --- Dakilang Isagani 18:16, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Commonwealth Congress

But there was a plebiscite in 1940 that abolished the National Assembly and replaced it with the 1st Congress of the Commonwealth of the Philippines which convened only in June 1945. That why it should be made 1st Congress of the Commonwealth of the Philippines or Commonwealth Congress in the Template:PhilippineLegislatures OKay. Plus your book had an error which was corrected by the Philippine National Historical Institute and i have the corrections. Ü — rizalninoynapoleon 17:10, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Batasang Bayan

I read from the Senate of the Philippines e-library that the Batasang Bayan was both an advisory and a legislative body patterned after the Philippine Commission. I know some people who served the Batasang Bayan and they said it was an transitional legislative body which functioned until the elections for the Interim Batasang Pambansa. So it has to be in Template:Philippine legislatures and refer to the book of Cesar Pobre "Philippine Legislature:100Years". Ü — rizalninoynapoleon 17:10, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Admin?

Sure, I've deleted all the old versions of those images. It's not a problem, if you really don't need them. By the way, are you interested at all in becoming an admin? You've been here for a year, plus 3 years anonymously, you have 6500 edits (including 400+ page moves), you use edit summaries properly, and you seem very hardworking and trustworthy... all things that would go over well with the people at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship. The only roadblock I see is that your edits in the Wikipedia namespace are very few.. they're exclusively to Wikipedia:Tambayan Philippines and its talk page. It's not something that would bother me, but the people voting there might see a low number and immediately think "inexperienced". TheCoffee 02:01, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
