If you leave me a message, I will do one of three things:

  1. Ignore it.  :)
  2. Respond briefly on this page, if it's a quick note (e.g. "Thank you for letting me know.")
  3. Respond in detail on your user talk page (e.g. anything longer than two sentences).

If I leave you a message, please reply here. Shalom Hello 20:38, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome Template

I noticed [[1]] that you used a welcome template not like other one's I've seen. I was wondering if you could direct me to where it is located? Or possibly just give me the template name...thanks Elenseel 04:10, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, thanks...I think I'll use Template:Welcomeh though. Elenseel 04:31, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

Thank you for participating in my RfA. It was successful, and I am now, may God have mercy on us all, an administrator. Look at all the new buttons! I had heard about 'protect,' 'block user,' and 'delete,' but no one told me about 'kill,' 'eject,' and 'purée.' I appreciate the trust the community has in me, and I'll try hard not to delete the main page or block Jimbo. -FisherQueen (Talk) 17:58, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My recent RfB

Thank you so much for your participation in my recent RfB. Though it closed with 72% support (below the required 90%), I'm still quite pleased at the outpouring of support shown by a fair percentage of the community.

I'm currently tabulating and calculating all opposing and neutral arguments to help me better address the community's concerns about my abilities as a bureaucrat. If you'd like, you can follow my progress (and/or provide additional suggestions) at User:EVula/admin/RfB notes. Thanks again! EVula // talk // // 04:41, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Tyrus revisited

Hi -- I just wanted to note that regarding [2], in addition to 69.208.210.158 and 68.253.216.115, this user has begun using IP 68.253.192.48. He is continuing to generate complaints as can be seen at User_talk:68.253.216.115. Myasuda 13:11, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I placed a tag and alerted the author. I also made a weak keep vote on the WP:Afd page, and explained my reasons. Yes, there is a possible COI, but what we really need is expertise. Thank you for alerting me to the COI, as even I did not notice what should have been obvious. It quacks like a duck. 16:36, 3 July 2007 (UTC) Bearian 16:36, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree on the speedy delete prod here. Not quite made up, but neither notable nor reputable, and probably COI. Thank you for your quick attention to all these issues. Bearian 16:57, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for help on this one, too. Bearian 19:47, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bobby Wilson (baseball)

The {{hoax}} tag is for identifying false articles. Tagging legitimate articles like Bobby Wilson (baseball) with it is most certainly not the intended purpose. Picaroon (Talk) 22:46, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. I won't do that again. I'll use the standard "unref" tag instead. Shalom Hello 01:53, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Personal attack note: SS werwolf talk page

Thanks for your note about "personal attack"/ This was not an attack. I was enquiring if the submitter is a nazi. If he IS a nazi, which would explain his vandalism of jewish author references or Israeli sources, then he should be proud to say so, and we can engage in some sort of resoultion of the differences. Otherwise, his actions are simple vandalism, which would require a different resolution. Some submitters seem to be able to defend against vandalism, but this topic seems to be immune to help from the admins, so we're left to figuring this stuff out without assistance. David Greco

Just want to THANK you for jumping in so quick on the delete Delete David Greco movement a few weeks back. Amazing that the user who started that came along first using just an IP (which I am doing now too, but I was involved in that discussion prior), then he made up a name, and now he is gone. Aside from modding an image placement, the user was only involved in the Greco page, first nominating it for deletion and then participating in the discussion. What is ultimately VERY funny is the irony in all of this. I love it! 24.202.85.2 13:19, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and request for advice

Hi Shalom, thanks for the post on my talk page when I joined - much appreciated! I was just wondering about procedures around dealing with persistent spammers. I've been watching penetration test, computer forensics and PCI DSS for a while now, and they've been plagued by linkspamming, particularly penetration test, which has repeatedly had its content shaved down and links inserted into it. Anyway, this all comes from one IP address, and it ties back to the company which the links are pointing to. Can anything be done about this? It seems harsh to ban them entirely - I can't even guarantee the user knows how to look at the talk page associated with his/her IP address. Any thoughts? (Also, I note that my attempt to copy the warning stuff into his talk page a few weeks ago was a bit clumsy.) Random name 20:55, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am responding to a notice on the administrators' noticeboard questioning your recent behavior. (Note: I am not an administrator.) You have removed some valid comments by other users, and some valid content in articles, while accusing others of "vandalism." I ask you to assume good faith, and I quote you an adage from the Talmud: "Whoever accuses someone else of a fault is himself guilty of that same fault" (Tractate Kiddushin, ch. 4). Please stop referring to other users' edits as vandalism. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Shalom Hello 15:49, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • While I really do appreciate the thoughtfulness I would like to respectfully suggest you take this to heart as well. Not everything posted on administrators noticeboard is necessarily fully actuate nor does it necessarily tell the whole story. While I may not be a model citizen of wikipedia, often times little things can be blown way out of proportion – so it wise to assume good faith. Thanks anyway. --The Matrix Prime 01:09, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RFA

Hi, thanks for your vote of confidence, but I'd like a little bit more experience before running for adminship. As you commented on my Editor Review, you know that I'm still trying to really find my role here on Wikipedia, and I don't feel that I've quite accomplished that yet. I'd like some more experience writing, and editing articles; specifically, getting articles up to Good Article or Featured Article status. I'd also like more experience dealing with images, especially fair use images. So, thank you for your support, and I might reconsider in, say, mid-August. If I forget, feel free to just leave a note, or email me -- whatever you want to do. --Haemo

I declined your speedy tag on this article as it appears to meet the requirements of {WP:CSD|CSD A7}} and is sufficiently different from the last deleted version. Feel free to take the article to AfD. — Scientizzle 17:11, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Huh?!? When ...

... did you change your name? I noticed that there was someone I didn't recognise making a lot of contributions to XfD and imagine my surprise when I found out that that someone is you. Hi! (Or, I guess, shalom.) :)

I see that you recently turned down an RfA nomination by Sceptre. I just want to ask once again that you let me know if/when you decide to run. I'll gladly support your candidacy and would be honoured to nominate you.

Cheers, Black Falcon (Talk) 20:06, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I also want to commend you on your choice of a new username. It's friendly and inviting and I really like the word itself (both its pronunciation and its meaning).

help with article about (Kirk Fraser)

Im sending you a request. I've look over the deletion of Kirk Fraser, The original article had the incorrect spelling of his last name. Check out the (http://www.answers.com/topic/kirk-frasier) the article is still wrong. We originally created a new page on Wikipedia with the correct spelling and paste the content from Wikipedia with the incorrect spelling of Frasier. It was shortly deleted, we once again created it again, and it was also deleted. We don't know what to do. It seems like once it's up it taken down again, when it was originally put up by some one else. We just wanted to change the spelling of the Last name and fix the content that was wrong. Can you please help me in guiding me to correct this issue. Thanks.

TfD Closures

I appreciate your initiative in making non-admin closures of several recent TfDs. You definitely made the right call in each case. There are only two things I might suggest: First, you might want to review Wikipedia:Deletion process again. I was noticing that you placed the closing template {{tfd top}} above the header. Generally this template is placed below the header instead. This is no big deal, but it just helps keep the TfDs a little bit better organized and editable if needed. Second, I might wait until the discussions get a bit closer to 7 days before you close them. Few editors have templates on their watchlists so it can take longer for news of a particular TfD to spread to interested parties. Otherwise, keep up the good work. PA Dutch MS Bike Tour

Not going to contest your prod because bottom line, I agree with you. But when you say there are many just like it, I think it sets a bad precedent for reasons. I mean, you could prod The Wizard of Oz and say that there are many other musicals that appeal to children and adults so this should go. But then you are disregarding the fact that the movie truly is notable. What I say is that there is nothing in xyz article to indicate why this particular subject is more notable than the other ones out there just like it. I can't force you to change how you word things but I thought I would just pass this along.

That's a good point. I am accustomed to WP:HOLE as an indicator of notability, but such wording is unclear to new users. Shalom Hello 20:34, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are right about spending too much time on the arbitration case; I think I've probably said all I have to say unless someone has any direct questions I'm planning to resume regular editing and see what happens. I didn't mention it for two reasons, 1) It's not over, 2) I don't want to give the impression I'm forum shopping.

Just wanted to say thanks again, the process of reviewing someone can be tricky so I appreciate editors like you who actually do it. :) Anynobody 04:57, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You, along with Scientizzle, voiced an opinion here that monovalent should become a disambiguation page. Unless a disambiguation page is created to replace the redirect, it may be deleted anyways. Please consider whether you wish to create this disambiguation page or risk having the page deleted. BigNate37(T) 17:23, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Somebody else fixed it. Shalom Hello 20:26, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, Scientizzle got on that pretty fast. A few minutes later it was closed as a disambig. BigNate37(T) 21:54, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re your comments on Anime_detour's user page

Feel free to highlight what, if any, NPOV-violating material is on the Anime Detour article before you accuse people of violating it. Jtrainor 20:06, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jtrainor's query is in response to a report about Anime Detour at WP:COIN. I have no further comment. From experience, it is possible for an author to have a conflict of interest with the subject without skewing the neutrality of the article. However, it is rare, so I am within my rights to point out COI when I see it. Thankfully, TheFarix and others have been working on the article since I left it. Shalom Hello 20:31, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You still have not answered my question, you've just evaded it. What POV is being presented in the article, specifically? Jtrainor 06:42, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Shalom,

I accepted the Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/MJCdetroit 2 nomination. However, before you post this, could you ask the following editors if they would like to be co-nominators, as they have asked to nominate me for adminship at one time or another in the past: Wizardman, Lexicon, Rick Block, andYoungamerican? Thank you, —MJCdetroit 02:35, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MJCDetroit

Your nomination says "For the record, MJCdetroit requested adminship in May 2006." This is not stated very well. For the record, user:Rick Block nominated MJCdetroit for adminship in May 2006. -- Rick Block (talk) 04:03, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good point. I have changed the sentence to address this concern. Shalom Hello 04:05, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vick

His number is not retired - his jersey is. When Jim Weaver (our AD) came in, he realized that we couldn't keep retiring numbers or we would run out eventually, so we retire jerseys instead. #7 is worn by our current quarterback, Sean Glennon and was worn by Kevin Jones before him. Retiring a jersey is symbolic, rather than practical - jerseys only last a few years anyway and we don't even use the style of jersey that Vick wore any more, so there really isn't anything to unretire. There is a banner in the stadium displaying his number and it could be removed ... but I doubt that Weaver is even going to consider it until the trial is over. Knowing Weaver, if we do remove it, it will probably be a politically correct double-secret probation way of doing it ... for example, construction might we might "coincidentally" need to remove all jerseys that are on display for construction and then when we put them back up, somehow forget to put Vick's back up. --B 14:59, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, that makes four standing offers to nominate me. I think I'm going to wait until around Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year), which is in around two months. I've accepted the fact that some people need more time to see that I have recovered from my destructive habits of vandalism as cited in the previous RFAs. After two failed self-noms, I'm waiting until I'm sure of passing with room to spare. In the meanwhile, there's plenty of work to do without the admin tools. Thanks for the offer. A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Rechel Shapiro, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy).
