The racial makeup of the neighborhood was 35.8% Hispanic(Mexican), 81.8% Black, 0.4% Native American, 3.2% Asian or Pacific Islander, 27.8% White, and 2.9% from two or more races. Hispanic population is of race were 42.4% of the population.West Dallas is home to the pioneering popular West Coast hip hop rappers like The D.O.C. & Tha Realest similar to 2Pac.With the rap group called Fila Fresh Crew.

Education

Public education in west Dallas is provided by the Irving and Dallas Independent School Districts. Dallas schools cover over 90% of the area — only areas on the north side of the original channel of the West Fork of the Trinity River and on the west side of the original channel of Mountain Creek attend Irving schools. All students zoned to Dallas schools attend Thomas A. Edison Middle Learning Center and L. G. Pinkston High School,[3] as well as one of the following elementary schools:

Students living on the north side of the original channel of the West Fork of the Trinity River attend Schulze Elementary School and students living on the west side of the original channel of Mountain Creek attend Townley Elementary School.[3]
