A Metrolink Tram crossing the Manchester Ship Canal at Pomona, Greater Manchester

Pomona Metrolink Station is a Manchester Metrolink station serving the Pomona Docks area which is to yet to be redeveloped. Pomona is Metrolink's only purpose built elevated tram stop, built with exposed concrete supports similar to much of the DLR.

Pomona is the only station on the Metrolink network to be built with ticket barriers; however these are currently not in use. The change from paper tickets currently being used on the system to more rigid card tickets being dispensed by newer ticket machines may mean that a barrier system will be used in future at the main interchanges.

The station opened as part of the first stage of the Eccles extension via Salford Quays in 1999. The station is located within Zone H and is located at the end of the viaduct over the Manchester Ship Canal.

Allowance has been made in the design of the viaduct supporting the line for an extension through the Trafford Park industrial estate and onto the Trafford Centre providing the funding can be provided by the government. One of Metrolink's major failings is that the system doesn't serve the Trafford Centre despite it's size. The main reasons for this being that Peel Holdings, the owners of the Trafford Centre believed that shoppers would abuse the free parking facility at the centre and make their way to Manchester City Centre.

Pomona Docks

Pomona Metrolink Station is located at the edge of the now disused Pomona Docks owned by the Peel Group. The site is due for massive redevelopment with plans of an apartment complex and leisure facilities lining the waterfront; the project seams to have stalled, however.
