The New York Mets' 1987 season was the 26th regular season for the Mets. They went 92-70 and finished 2nd in the NL East. They were managed by Davey Johnson. They played home games at Shea Stadium.

Offseason

  • December 11, 1986: Stan Jefferson was traded by the New York Mets with Kevin Armstrong (minors), Kevin Brown (minors), Shawn Abner, and Kevin Mitchell to the San Diego Padres for Kevin McReynolds, Gene Walter, and Adam Ging (minors).
  • March 27, 1987: David Cone was traded by the Kansas City Royals with Chris Jelic to the New York Mets for Ed Hearn, Rick Anderson, and Mauro Gozzo. [1]
