:: I've added a second link covering the Yorkshire born evidence - first link describes the 3rd bishop as the closest the diocese had had (I had originally mis-read this as has had, therefore giving all the evidence required) to a Yorkshire born bishop and shows the 5th and 6th bishops were from Tyneside and Lancashire respectively. The new link shows the 4th bishop was from Barrow-in-Furness. Hope this does the trick. [[User:ChapterandVerse|ChapterandVerse]] ([[User talk:ChapterandVerse|talk]]) 21:07, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Revision as of 21:07, 1 November 2008

Requested move

As there is no longer an article at "Steve Croft", this article should be there (there was previously a "Steve Croft" article which duplicated the article at Steven Croft, but it has been merged, leaving a redirect from "Steve Croft" to that article). With appropriate hatnotes in each direction, the article for the priest should be at plain Steve Croft. PamD (talk) 18:34, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This seems like a good idea, a hatnote has been added to the Steve Croft article. Nev1 (talk) 18:40, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. The hatnotes work well in this case, and no disambiguation or other navigation devices are required. Andrewa (talk) 19:22, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone ahead and performed the move. Shereth 17:10, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

While we're here...

Can anyone think of a decent hook for DYK? The article's big enough to qualify and as long as something is put on the DYK nom page before the 30th it stands a fair chance of being selected. Nev1 (talk) 00:25, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have put in a nomination with the hook that he will be the first Yorkshire-born Bishop of Sheffield. ChapterandVerse (talk) 22:38, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DYK update

Two concerns: first, the article's a little short; the prose comes to only 1350 characters which is short of the minimum of 1500. Perhaps the list of his previous appointments could be prosified? And secondly, I'm not sure the given reference supports the statement that he's the first Yorkshireman to take the post: it gives no indication that Gordon Fallows, for example, wasn't born in the county. It's a nice hook to use if we can deal with those two things, though! User:Olaf Davis

The above issues wil need to be sorted for the article to qualify for DYK. Nev1 (talk) 15:15, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've had a go at converting the list under ministry into prose. I think now there should be over 1,500 characters of prose (one of the criteria for DYK). Nev1 (talk) 15:20, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a second link covering the Yorkshire born evidence - first link describes the 3rd bishop as the closest the diocese had had (I had originally mis-read this as has had, therefore giving all the evidence required) to a Yorkshire born bishop and shows the 5th and 6th bishops were from Tyneside and Lancashire respectively. The new link shows the 4th bishop was from Barrow-in-Furness. Hope this does the trick. ChapterandVerse (talk) 21:07, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
