The 2008 Triple J Hottest 100 was announced on Australia Day, 26 January 2009. It is the sixteenth countdown of the most popular songs of the year, as chosen by the listeners of Australian radio station, Triple J.

Voting commenced on Boxing Day, 26 December, 2008, and closed on 18 January, 2009.[1] The second half of the countdown was broadcast live from Parramatta Park in New South Wales, with live crosses to the Big Day Out, held at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne, Victoria.[2]

Over 800,000 votes were received, and over 1000 parties registered for the 2008 Hottest 100.
