Nada más que la verdad

Nada más que la verdad (Nothing But the Truth) is a game show created in Colombia. The hosts asks the contestants a series of 21 increasingly personal and embarrassing questions for a huge jackpot. The format has been exported to 43 countries, including Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Middle East, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom and United States.

Format

Prior to the show, a contestant is hooked up to a polygraph and asked between 50 and 70 questions. Without knowing the results of the polygraph test, he or she is asked 21 of those same questions again on the program, each becoming more personal in nature. If the contestant answers honestly as confirmed by the polygraph, he or she moves on to the next question. A person may stop at any time before any question is asked and collect the money they have won. Honestly answering all 21 questions wins the jackpot. If the participant is found to be lying, he or she loses everything and the game is over.

Brazilian version

The Brazilian version will premiere on Late 2008 and will air on SBT entitled Nada Além da Verdade. It will be hosted by Silvio Santos. The jackpot for this version is R$100.000,00 (hundred thousands Real).

Colombian version

The original Colombian version premiered on May 23, 2007 and aired on Canal Caracol entitled Nada más que la verdad (Nothing But the Truth). It is hosted by Jorge Alfredo Vargas. The jackpot for this version is COL$100,000,000.

Croatian version

The Croatian version was premiered on September 2008 and aired on Nova TV entitled Trenutak istine (The Moment of Truth). It will be hosted by Jasna Nanut. The jackpot for this version is 500,000 HRK.

Czech Republic version

The Czech Republic version premiered on September 25, 2008 and aired on TV Prima entitled Nic než pravda (Nothing But the Truth). It is hosted by Petr Šiška. The jackpot for this version is 5,000,000 Kč. Czech version of The Moment Of Truth broadcasts Slovakian TV JOJ too.

Danish version

The Danish version premiered on September 17, 2008 and aired on TV3 entitled Sandhedens Time (The Hour of Truth). It is hosted by Lars Hjortshøj, a well-known Danish comedian and previous host of various TV shows. The jackpot for this version is DKK 500.000.

Estonian version

The Estonian version premiered on September 1, 2008 on Kanal 2 entitled Tõehetk (The Moment of Truth). It is hosted by Hannes Võrno. The jackpot for this version is 1,000,000 EEK.

Finnish version

The Finnish version is called "Totuuden hetki" (English translation: "The moment of the truth"). The television channel MTV3 will first air the American episodes of the show, starting 4th October 2008. The Finnish episodes will be shot in late November 2008. The top prize will be 50.000 Euros, and the money ladder from the United States version will be divided by ten.

German version

The German version will premiere on Late 2008 and will air on RTL2 entitled Die Wahrheit und nichts als die Wahrheit (The Truth and Nothing But the Truth). It will be hosted by Christoph Bauer. The jackpot for this version is 25,000 eur.

Greek version

The Greek version entitled "Η στιγμή της αλήθειας" (The Moment of Truth) premiered as part of ANT1's fall 2008. It is hosted by Eugenia Manolidou and the jackpot for this version is 200,000 euros.

Hungarian version

The Hungarian version premiered on March 5, 2008 and aired on TV2 entitled Az Igazság Ára (The Price of Truth). It is hosted by Gabriella Jakupcsek. The jackpot for this version is 20,000,000ft.

Israeli version

The Israeli version premiered on July 9, 2008 and aired on Channel 2 entitled הפוליגרף (The Polygraph). It is hosted by Gadi Sukenik. The jackpot for this version is ₪1,000,000.

Italian version

The Italian version aired for a pilot on June 12, 2008 on Italia 1 entitled Il momento della verità (Nothing But the Truth). It is hosted by Paola Perego. The jackpot for this version is €250,000.

Netherlands version

The Dutch version premiered on September 6, 2008 on RTL 4 entitled Het moment van de waarheid (The Moment of Truth). It is hosted by Robert ten Brink. The jackpot for this version is €100,000.

The Spanish version premiered on April 2, 2008 and aired on Telecinco entitled El juego de tu vida (The Game of your Life). It is hosted by Emma García. The jackpot for this version is €100,000.

Swedish version

The Swedish version premiered on April 20, 2008 and aired on Kanal 5 entitled Sanningens ögonblick (The Moment of Truth). It is hosted by Pontus Gårdinger. The jackpot for this version is 500,000 SEK.

UK version

The UK version premiered on November 10, 2007 and aired on Sky One entitled Nothing But the Truth. It is hosted by Jerry Springer. The jackpot for this version is £50,000.

US version

The US version premiered on January 23, 2008 and aired on FOX entitled The Moment of Truth. It is hosted by Mark L. Walberg. The jackpot in this version is $500,000.

Controversy

The Colombian version was axed in October 2007 when a female contestant Rosa Maria Solano was asked "¿Usted le pagó a un sicario para mandar matar a su marido?", meaning, "Did you pay a hit man to kill your husband?" and she answered "yes" to the question. (The person she hired tipped off her husband, who then fled.) She later walked away with US$25,000..
