Since I was told to haul the discussion over here. Looking at 2004 gymnastics page, I see no contraversy section. Therefore, to keep up with the tradition, this section shouldn't exist, esp. when it is NOT proven. However, given it is a huge issue (esp. in US), I am okay with keeping this section here. However, to make things fair and so wiki doesn't look pro-US, I will edit the 2004 page and include a section on the contraversy surrounded Paul Hamm's all-around gold (it was a huge issue 4 years ago as well) and Artemov's rescore after the crowd booed for 5 minutes with english source articles as well. I'm not asking for keeping or removing this article but just consistency between the 2 back to back olympics. I'll post a similar comment in 2004 page and if nobody objects by end of tomorrow, I'll edit the other sheet. As far as a separate article goes, I'd more inclined to waiting until we have a final answer on this. If the athletes are proven to be underage (FIG or IOC disqualifies their scores for example), then it definitely deserves an article on its own. However, if the FIG or IOC rules the otherway, then its just media suspicious and some suspicious cached info (I looked at the cache by the hacker and it listed He Kexin's hometown as well so I am suspicous of the source). Without any hard proof, I hardly think this article justify an article by itself. I think given the situation is still in development, I think it is too early to tell what the consequences are and what impact it would make. As for people to talk about it years to come, I high doubt that if this is not proven. Also, I noticed a lot of editors on this page seems to take a view about guilty until proven innocent. I've constantly deleted the asteriks because many people seemed to think the asteriks was unnecessary ESPECIALLY with the section already explaining about the age controversy, but an anonymous editor keeps reverting it back. Agreed, no asterisk is needed. Its either FIG/IOC disqualify China's score, hence the entire table would be changed and a whole new article added to address this scandal, or the table is the way as it is as the current medal table stands. Wiki is about the what is the current result, not about what is possible in the future.

Ninja337: the accusation is He Kexin is 14 years old, not 10. Please get the facts straight before you start bashing people. Such biased comments just makes me think this has less to do with actually representing facts (as wiki is suppose to do) but more China-bashing.

The table is very clear and easy to understand, for "at a glance" information about the medals, and how each country is doing. Repeated Removal of the Controversy Section

I've seen the age controversy section disappear a couple of times, usually without comment or justification. While I can conceive of arguments for removing or cutting down the section, and note those who've voiced disagreement above, it seems proper to assess consensus via this talk page or at least provide some justification before the removal of an entire contentious section. I'm going to reinstate it for now, but I'll gladly back off if there is a general feeling that the link to the controversy article is sufficient. LupusPrime (talk) 03:20, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Ma Jiawei?

Can somebody explain to me why Ma Jiawei is listed as a medallist in the group rhythmic event?
