B in the Mix: The Remixes is a remix album from Britney Spears which was originally to be titled Remixed [1][2]. It was released in the U.S. and in Canada on November 22, 2005 and later released worldwide on December 5, 2005. [3].

Album editions

The standard edition of the album in the United States and Canada contains remixes of Spears' biggest hits, from "...Baby One More Time" to "Toxic", and also a remix of her single, "Someday (I Will Understand)", originally a piano ballad that was an ode to her then unborn son, Sean Preston. It also contains a new song, "And Then We Kiss".

The Japanese edition of the album contains three bonus tracks, one is a remix for "Stronger", one for "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" and a second remix for "Someday (I Will Understand)". The Japanese edition is very similar to the UK version, the UK edition contains the same bonus tracks except the remix for "Someday (I Will Understand)".

An EP titled "Key Cuts from Remixed" was realese to promote the remix album. It was a promotional EP containing 5 of the best remixes from B in the Mix: The Remixes.[4] It was released for promotional purposes only.

On iTunes, a deluxe edition of the album was released on December 6, 2005. The special edition contains two new remixes, one for "Touch of My Hand" and a second remix for "I'm A Slave 4 U". It also contained the digital booklet of the album.

Singles

  • "And Then We Kiss" was the only single from the album, released exclusively in Asia, though it charted in several countries. The song surprisingly appeared on Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay chart at #15, despite the fact that it was not officially released in the U.S. apart from digital download. Due to the digital downloads and the Billboard peak, on the U.S. a promotional vinyl and single CD were released to help the single release. It currently has a 3.5/5 rating on iTunes.

Commercial

Due to Spears not being able to properly promote the album, as she had just given birth to her son at the time of the album's release, B in the Mix failed to crack the top one hundred of the U.S. Billboard 200. It debuted at number 134 on the charts, selling 14,000 copies in its first week of release.[5] This is her first album not to receive any RIAA certifications. The promo single "And Then We Kiss" received heavy airplay in Europe. The album also charted within the top 40 in Mexico and the top 100 in the United Kingdom and Italy. To date, the album had sold over 100,000 copies in the United States according to Nielsen SoundScan[6] In the US Billboard 200 chart the album spent a total of 2 weeks, and 21 weeks in the Dance/Electronic Albums Chart.[7]
