  1. Trijntje Keever - Tallest recorded woman at 8 ft 4 in (254 cm).[12][13] Died in 1633 at age 17.
  2. Zeng Jinlian – Tallest woman at 8 ft 1.75 in (249 cm). Suffered from spine curvature and could not stand at full height. Died in 1982 at age 17.
  3. Jane Bunford – Former world's tallest woman (until Zeng Jinlian) and possibly the world's tallest person at the time of her death in April 1922 at 7 ft 7 in (231 cm), but due to a curved spine she could not stand up straight. However, if her spine had normal curvature, she would have stood 7 ft 11 in (241 cm).[14]
  4. Yao Defen – Claimant as tallest living female at 7 ft 9 in (234 cm).[15] Not confirmed by Guinness World Records.
  5. Sandy Allen – Listed as tallest living female by Guinness World Records at 7 ft 7¼ in (232 cm), until her death on August 13, 2008.[16]

Disputed claims

  1. Leonid Stadnyk claims to be 2.54 m (8 ft 4.0 in), however he refuses to undergo independent testing under Guinness Book of World Records rules, so his claim is not recognized.
  2. John Middleton the Childe of Hale. On his grave is written "Here lyeth the bodie of John Middleton the Childe of Hale. Nine feet three" 1578 - 1623. Height unconfirmed as family have refused permission to dig him up.
