Please stop the edit war

I listed 4 scholarly sources [1] versus your one, which is again, just listing the title of the book. GabeMc (talk) 04:26, 28 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I realize this isn't a counting sources as an answer edit war, but there are arguments which aren't completely based outside of reality on both sides. Your approach to this situation is not becoming of an admin in my opinion, for what little that's worth. This doesn't appear to be a situation where you'd have any type of exemption to 3rr. I realize everyone involved at this point thinks they are right without question, but discussion instead of reverting seems like a healthy way forward. --OnoremDil 06:21, 28 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Here [2] is a pic of a first edition book with dust jacket, not just solid black with writing on the spine as you described, but white, with a picture and writting on the front dust cover, just like the one pictured on the Wiki page [3]. --GabeMc (talk) 02:27, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Does the phrase "with the assistance of Alex Haley" appear on either? [4] [5] --GabeMc (talk) 02:46, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What do you think of

GabeMc (talk) 03:06, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated this article for deletion because I believe it does not make a sufficient assertion of notability. More critically though, I don't believe A7 exempts organizations that label themselves schools, only traditional educational organizations. For context, I'm talking about discussions here (from SoWhy, hardly one to expand CSD) and this recent discussion. Shadowjams (talk) 04:09, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your reply. I'm sorry if I came across as too aggressive. Shadowjams (talk) 04:33, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete move of Mohammad Nor Khalid to Lat

Hi, thank you for moving the contents of Mohammad Nor Khalid to Lat; however, it seems the contents of its talk page Talk:Mohammad Nor Khalid have not been moved to Talk:Lat. Jappalang (talk) 05:38, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tom Baruch

Hi- I'm not sure why this article was deleted now, it's been up for months and I just added some links to improve it. I am with CMEA which has the copyright on this text, although I understand it's been copied elsewhere. Tom Baruch is one of the most respected venture capitalists in the industry and has been in the industry for decades. I'm not sure how much more well known in the industry you can get. Thanks, Michael —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mbm982 (talkcontribs) 02:16, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I tagged Daric Rawr for speedy deletion because of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Daric_Rawr&action=edit&redlink=1 The same author is also introducing the same article under a different name: Derick jacob goff. It does get confusing sometimes LOL. SeaphotoTalk 03:20, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Autobiography

I just wanted to point something out to you, and I'm not sure if it would be appropriate for the article talk page. In an edit you made to the Messianic Judaism article, you correctly pointed out that Messianic Judaism is not Judaism. Now, I found a number of texts that would very easily meet WP:RS that declare Messianic Judaism to be a bona-fide branch of Judaism. However, we would never include this in the article, because, the fact is that it is simply not true. You may find WP:RS (you have, actually) that say The Autobiography of Malcolm X was written by Malcolm X with the assistance of Alex Haley, but the fact is that it was written by Alex Haley with the assistance of Malcolm X.Mk5384 (talk) 07:59, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Criminal (band)

Hi Malik.

My name is Adam Eunson, from Enterprise Music Management, UK. I represent a heavy metal band 'CRIMINAL' - reference Criminal (band), who's page was deleted a not too long ago. I have read the reasons as to the deletion, and feel it is an unwarranted removal of the article. If you could inform me of the exact problems with the page, I will endeavour to correct any issues you may have, as it only became apparent as the page was due a clean up, and I was planning on linking in a lot of reference in to the article, which I can now not access.

If you could be as kind as to let me know if there is any way the page may be reinstated I would be most grateful, as there was A LOT of information on the page, as the band have been around for 20 years.

I thank you for your time, and hope you can help us. Regards.

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Zak howard

You give no reason why you didn't think this page merited speedy deletion. The question is moot, because another admin took a different view and deleted the page, but I'd still be interested in your reasons (as part of the learning experience). Regards. Jimmy Pitt (talk) 09:07, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I see the distinction you were making. In fact, I now think the whole thing was a hoax (there's no such thing as "sleding"), so I should probably have tagged it under G3, not A7, but at least I know for the future. Thanks again. Jimmy Pitt (talk) 21:28, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Funshare deletion

Hello malik

I wrote an article called funshare and to document this new ecommerce movement starting in hong kong and china and asia.

I tried to name this one company funshare in the group buying space because it is a visible representative of the whole group

Never happened in HK before, but funshare.com was able to sell 4000 movies tickets in 36 hours, and breaking all ecommerce records in HK

I also name reference to the whole group buying concept for this region

Would you please let me know how I should follow up with this? Should I create the funshare article again? or will you revert the deletion?

many thanks, like to let others know about this in this region!

It didn't have NO meaningful, substantive content. It had a little bit. It was a step toward something. Deleting it wasn't improving Wikipedia. Chrisrus (talk) 04:41, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jon "Flip" muro

Hi I was just wondering why the page on Jon "Flip" Muro was deleted? he is a legitimate music producer with a few notable credits to major artists which all have valid references. He has a fan base and the latest artist he has contributed major production to has received well over 100,000 hits on you tube total. If there was a problem with the article in the way it was written or formatted please let me know I will change it in any way that is necessary. I would certainly like to at very least have access to the article to retain the work which was put in on it. It is in no way offensive or lacking references. I am most certainly willing to address any issues if you can let me know what was wrong with it. I appreciate your time and consideration on this matter thanks in advance

Hi ok what would be considered a reliable source? would an Amazon listing be considered notable? could I provide a link to amazon showing a recent release from a major artist he has contributed production to? also the blogs I noted are very large sites that are very difficult to get content on unless you have a following. I can post a link to a video of a song he produced and is featured in along with a major artist? it would prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he has contributed production to at least one major artist. I'm just confused as to what a reliable source for a music producer would be. So much music nowadays is internet driven, I can also post links to the records themselves, I feel like I can site many examples of music producers that have there work publicized in this fashion. He has a large following outside of the united states which can be tracked by the amount of you tube views his work gets, which is why I thought you tube would be a good source. I would def appreciate any help in getting the article up to par, I have seen many articles with less references that have not been deleted...thanks again for your help in advance

hmm what about BMI registration of a copywrited work? also if the material appears on over 100 blogs and there is video evidence could this be considered one of those rare circumstances? thanx for all your help working on trying to find what would be considered RS

Nhw001123 (talk) 21:42, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ok so after reading your response I checked out WP:RS#Self-published sources and pulled this ""Blogs" in this context refers to personal and group blogs. Some news outlets host interactive columns that they call blogs, and these may be acceptable as sources so long as the writers are professional journalists or are professionals in the field on which they write and the blog is subject to the news outlet's full editorial control. Posts left by readers may never be used as sources.

Self-published material may, in some circumstances, be acceptable when produced by an established expert on the topic of the article whose work in the relevant field has previously been published by reliable third-party publications."

the websites which list his works are extremely reputable sites which are not easy to get content on and certainly cannot be "bought" in fact its fair to say these individuals can be considered "experts" in there respective field. We are talking about the largest and most reputable blogs on this specific subject that hundreds of thousands of people get there news from...is there any debate as to whether this person exists or that he produced these records??? they are available at every major retail outlet and have major label releases with upc's, there is perfoming rights society records, there is even video evidence of the existence...isn't this enough to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that this would be considered a circumstance where it would be acceptable to believe that hundreds of blogs including the premier writers in the respective format have recognized this individuals work?? is it not unfair to deny him this recognition simply because of the medium within which he has been popularized? I very humbly request you reconsider this decision. Muro is most definitely a legitimate producer who has been mentioned by literally the most reputable sites in the format

respectfully yours,

Fereidoon Tavallali

I just wanted to say thanks for not being hasty with the prod of Fereidoon Tavallali. He's actually one of the most notable Persian poets of the modern era, but I didn't want to create the article because he's my grandfather (possible conflict) and I share his name as my middle name. Now that it's been apparently added (seeing it today to my pleasant surprise), I will be beefing up the article with cites from Stanford University and other notable sources. Deleted Article

First and foremost, I appreciate the fact that you would allow a forum for two-way communication. However, while I imagine you are inundated with an overwhelming amount of inquires regarding deletions, I would counter with the fact that you have chosen said course of action. "Heavy lies the crown" so to speak....

That being said you deleted the following:

"This page has been deleted. The deletion and move log for the page are provided below for reference.

   * 02:05, 3 July 2010 Malik Shabazz (talk | contribs) deleted "HdV Wines" ‎ (A7: Article about a company, corporation, organization, or group which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject (CSDH))"

It cannot be expected of you to know, but Aubert de Villaine is probably the highest regarded wine personality in the global wine business. He makes the most sought after wine in the world for the highest prices. His wine was recently featured (April) on the cover of Wine Spectator and is regularly featured in newspapers, magazines and online articles throughout the world. For more information, click the below link on Aubert de Villaine and his french winery.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aubert_de_Villaine

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domaine_de_la_Roman%C3%A9e-Conti

Now, HdV is Aubert de Villaine's American winery (the dV" is Aubert's last name). To not give reference to his American partnership seems like an odd exclusion. It has nothing to with advertising, but rather notes another accomplishment of the wine industry's leading personality. If it is more articles that wikipedia seeks in regards to HdV and/or the partners of HdV, that is easy to accomplish. It just seems odd that wikipedia would mention Aubert, his french winery but then decide to exclude any other significant information relating to such an important industry figure.

Thank you for your time. 07/04/2010 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.126.72.197 (talk) 19:11, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your message. If the article about HdV Wines contained half as much information about the winery as your message does, it might not have been deleted.
I recommend that you start a new article about the winery, based on what has been written about it in reliable sources, such as newspapers and magazines. Be sure to mention your sources, so readers (including other editors) can verify the information if they'd like. Good luck. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 19:40, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rhys Taylor

I noticed you deleted and protected-against-recreation the bio of Rhys Taylor. Since he's a squad member of a notable English Premier League club, I don't understand why he is not notable. The previous deletion discussion was 2 years ago, so the facts of the matter behind his notability have, in fact, changed since then. I do not think this is a legitimate candidate for speedy deletion and ask for its immediate restoration.

Philwelch (talk) 22:04, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

According to this link (http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268~1785909,00.html) Taylor was named to Chelsea's UEFA Champions League squad. As a young player he is on the B list alongside Gael Kukuta and Jeffrey Bruma, both of whom have rather extensive articles about them. As the link explains, players on the A and B list were equally eligible to compete in the cup (which is the highest level of club competition in Europe). He is a more notable and accomplished footballer than, for instance, any player listed here: Kidderminster_Harriers_F.C.#Current_squad.

I'm willing to admit the article itself sucks, but the subject is notable and there does exist enough room for expansion. Perhaps you don't understand since you're unfamiliar with European football, but the fact that it's impossible to create a well-cited article about a member of Chelsea FC (even one who is admittedly a third-string goalkeeper) is equivalent to deleting and protecting-against-recreation the bio of, say, a bench player for the Los Angeles Lakers or New Orleans Saints. Philwelch (talk) 22:21, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WP:ATHLETE cites "People who have competed at the fully professional level of a sport, or a competition of equivalent standing in a non-league sport such as swimming, golf or tennis, except for those that participated only in competitions that are themselves non-notable". Chelsea are a professional club, even at the reserve level at which Taylor plays. Taylor's profile here: http://www.chelseafc.com/page/TheReservesProfiles/0,,10268~900391,00.html says "Last campaign he started as the second string's first choice and made eight appearances in all." (emphasis added). Reserve level play for an English Premier League club like Chelsea is roughly equivalent to AAA baseball (and there are many bios of AAA baseball players) or to perhaps League 1 or League 2 footballers in the English Football League (of which there are many bios). Please reinstate the article. Philwelch (talk) 22:28, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please restore the talk page as well. Philwelch (talk) 22:38, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Keep in mind that you may have to restore both talk pages and merge their history, given the capitalization issue. Philwelch (talk) 22:40, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Declining speedy deletion

Are you sure that Windclan Tales: Jinglekit, Mousekit, and Hustlekit is not suitable for speedy deletion?
