My Change I dont understand

The website that you have up now www.debtconsolidationcare.com is a company just like mine offering information on debt.

Cant you add my page which has tons of educational information and even an educational course for people to take on debt.

www.kimberlycredit.com

Please let me know

No you replaced links to a forum and some educational material with links to a blatantly commercial site. Doing so again will get you blocked. --GraemeL (talk) 19:13, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Seven Years' War

Why did I get warned in the "talk" section about vandalizing Wikipedia? I did not vandalize it. In fact, what I did was repair a vandalized sentence.

The person before me had changed a sentence that had originally stated that the Seven Years' War "could be viewed as a continuation of the War of Austrian Succession"; and instead changed it to read that the war started when "a king slept with his daughter." I deleted the statement about the king sleeping with someone's daughter and re-inserted the original statement saying the war was a continuation of the earlier war. How does that make me a vandal? Why I am being warned that I might lose my ability to contribute to Wikipedia? Please let me know? I don't understand.

You sure you have the right person? I have never edited Seven Years' War, at least not in the last 500 edits to the page and I wouldn't warn you if I didn't revert some vandalism. The IP address you posted the above message from has not edited that article either, so it's likely that you either have a dynamic IP address, or your ISP rotates through multiple proxies. In either case, I wouldn't worry about it as blocks are only temporary. --GraemeL (talk) 23:39, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dont understand

BUt my site is educational as well

That Forum site is a commercial site as well

Can you please add my educational link to that page

www.kimberlycredit.com/education.htm

Your lonliness is worn

Please allow me to show you Wikipedia's rule on outside links:

Advertising. Articles about companies and products are fine if they are written in an objective and unbiased style. Furthermore, all article topics must be third-party verifiable, so articles about very small "garage" companies are not likely to be acceptable. External links to commercial organizations are acceptable if they can serve to identify major corporations associated with a topic (see finishing school for an example). Please note Wikipedia does not endorse any businesses and it does not set up affiliate programs. See also WP:CORP for a proposal on corporate notability.

I am an expert in the field of water ionization and nutritional technology. I am providing a link to my site for two reasons. The first is obviously commercial. The second is that I have nemerous articles and information regarding the health benefits of water ionization technology (articles written by well-known doctors and researchers). Almost EVERY external link in Wikipedia is selling either a product, service, or information. You would have to spend the next several decades scouring Wikipedia to try and police this site. ARE YOU INSANE? Is this all you have to do in Edinburgh? Is there any way you can use your life better to help mankind, rather than spending lonely nights in front of your computer, wishing to have real success and fame, hoping that someday one of your edits will mean something to the world??

If you keep ersing my external links, I will start an arbitration against you and others like you who are jealous of the knowledge of others.

Also, I can change my ip address at will, in seconds, and insert the links over and over and over and over again from different ip addresses until you and other lonely free-speech site editor morons like you get tired. Try me.... I make money while I write this... I can do this all day until you get sick to your stomach!

I will be posting this same letter across hundres of pages until enough people see your name and get sick and tired of you.

Good thing the co-creator of Wikipedia Larry Sanger is American... he truly understands free speech... unlike parts of the world who live in fear of opposing thought.

Your link is blatantly commercial and the articles that you have been posting it to are not about the company that you are linking to. You have been warned by several users and have now received your last warning. Please make useful contribution instead of spamming. --GraemeL (talk) 01:07, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

**************************************************

You clearly are abusing your power, to which I and others will have to report.

My site, at www.snyderhealth.com, is an informational web site pertaining to Dr. Robert O. Young and his pH Miracle Program. It spans hundreds of pages and took years to build. It is currently the LARGEST WEB SITE IN THE WORLD pertaining to Dr. Young and the pH Miracle Program. I have tried to place a link to it via the article on Diet (nutrition), but you keep abusing your powers and feel some personal vendetta against me. I am going to report your abuse (I have read many other {talk} pages where people feel the same about your abuse). There is a fine line between spam, and information. You have gone overboard, and I will report you. You are a true vandal on this great web site, and now others will know about it.

I think you need to curb your enthusiasm and allow this web site to carry out it's true nature... an information portal for all to learn. Not a playground where you can display some sort of "power trip" that you would otherwise not have in real life.

Hello, Graeme

I would like to know, why do you remove all links to the mortgage-site-tools.com on the several pages of Wikipedia. I though, that links to my calculators would be helpful for others and did not intended to spam Wikipedia. Almost all links was well specific, for example, I've placed a link to Interest-Only calculator on my site to the external links section of corresponding artice - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interest-only_loan .

Also, I do not understand why do you keep links to some "freebie"-type web-sites. They give their stuff for free? But they generate money on AdSence and they have separate commercial licenses too. I'm not asking peoples to pay anything for calculators usage, they are free to use them as long as they wish.

Thank you. WBW, Ivan.

It was removed because you were spamming it to every article that you could think of. Special:Contributions/217.15.149.210. --GraemeL (talk) 13:01, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, yes, I've placed about ten links or less. Is that spam? How much _targeted_ links will not be considered as spam? May I place some of them back?

Thank you. WBW, Ivan.

Reposed from User_talk:193.233.48.78:Dear Monkeyman, please, take a second to take a look at this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:GraemeL#Why_my_external_links_are_blocked.3F . This is my point of view and seems, that GraemeL agrees with it. So, please, do not delete links (actually there is only one link) to mortgage-site-tools.com . Thank you, WBW, Ivan.

Ivan,
Your links were removed because Wikipedia:Spam:
"Adding the same link to many articles. The first person who notices you doing this will go through all your recent contributions with an itchy trigger finger on the revert button."
Articles like, Mortgage, Credit Card, Loan, etc. are watched very carefully by many users because they receive so many spam links. Because there has been so much spam abuse to these articles, the default action is to remove external links. Also, please create an account, I've no idea where/how to reply to your messages.  :) Monkeyman 13:57, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning my changes to article "Scotland"

I apologize for my accidental deletion of a part of the article on Scotland. My intention was not to erase the full last half of the article but to delete a part inserted just before the "History" section, which addressed the "redheadedness" of Scottish people and was clearly utter nonsense. Due to a problem with my computer, I must have accidentally deleted more than I wanted. I am sorry for this and of course I am aware that such may be considered vandalism, although I want you to know that it was not my intent to do so. I - in the name of all users of Wikipedia - thank you for your quick repair of the damage inadvertently caused by me.

No problem. I've seen that happen before on occasion. I removed the warning I added to the talk page of the IP that you made the edit with. Have fun editing Wikipedia. --GraemeL (talk) 17:44, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Quote

Do you know the source of your first selected quote? I'm just investigating something. Reply on my talk page please. Krashlandon (e) 22:55, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the information. I have been monitoring for possible sock puppets of vandals. This helps a little. Krashlandon (e) 23:45, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I contest your removal

I contest your removal, I am not posting my own sites thank you, and as far as I am aware those links I posted do fit the place they were placed. They serve a purpose by providing other users with resources. If you dont want links on the page then why keep the section for links to bittorrent sites. And by the way, NONE of those sites are commercial, they are all community driven. If you want to remove commercial sites try removing bittorrent.com as that is the only registered company owned site I am aware of on that page.

There are litraly hundreds of BitTorrent search engine sites. If we let people add links to them, the article will be nothing but links. --GraemeL (talk) 19:16, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And your point is?

There are literally thousands of all kinds of sites. while your at it why not erase every search engine. Bitoogle.com was the FIRST bittorrent search engine, mybittorrent.com is controlled by the same team of people that made the first php based bittorrent trackers which is why there are thousands of torrent sites. I really dont see the point to your argument, I think you are being rather selective with who can post.

Search engine list edit

If you look at the original versions of that page yotoshi and bitoogle were on there for some time and rightfully so, actualy there are only a dozen or so real bittorrent search engines If you would prefer I can give you the urls for all of them. and agian bitoogle was the first bittorrent search engine online, google about it if you need to varify that.

Wikifetcher

I readded the red box on http://www.wikifetcher.com/wf/demo.php in order to prevent people from buying this software thinking that it is accepted. With a large number of "live mirrors" getting crawled by search engine, we may get into serious resource shortage on the Wikimedia server farm. --Hendrik Brummermann 19:46, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, ok. I would probably have done some more invistigation if you had been logged in the first time. It just looked like an anon messing around, so I reverted it out. I'll leave it in now. --GraemeL (talk) 19:50, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Developers have blocked the mirror a few minuted ago. --Hendrik Brummermann 19:59, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A link to a commercial product is not encyclopedic content. Also it has little to do with the topic of affiliate marketing. Try somewhere more related to wiki itself but I doubt it will be accepted. Peterkoning 19:57, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I already noticed Ævar removing it again. I'm much more likely to follow a devs lead on something like this. --GraemeL (talk) 20:00, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm the website owner of wikifetcher, i tought that what i'm doing is legal by your rules. I will do anything that you will tell me to do in order to get things right.

I'm sorry for the touble, really. i've read the page about the copyrights, and didn't saw anything that forbids this kind of scraping...

so, what can i do in order to fix the problem / damage i've made?

Please read Wikipedia:Mirrors_and_forks. --Hendrik Brummermann 20:07, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Finding a Solution

What if i set in my robots.txt file to disallow indexing, will it be legal?

Hi Graeme, thanks for your prompt reply. The site is fairly new, yes. I wanted to get the links in so that anyone suffering from mental disorders knows that we are here and ready. There is such a lack of mental health help site out there, quite scary when you look at the stats of people with disorders! Anway, if the rules state I cannot link, I respect that and thank you for your time. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Disordered (talk • contribs) .

It does look as if you have a good resource in the making. If you can add more articles and encourage a vibrant forum, it may well be worth linking to in the future. Best of luck with your project. --GraemeL (talk) 20:07, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting all my edits

  • You've reverted all my edits without even looking at my comments.
  • Like Asteroids, I made an entry in the talk article talking about what I did. You just purely reverted it without even looking at the talk.
  • For burgertime, isn't it relevant to have a link to a flash game?
  • For Breakout, there was a link to *Gasp* Simulate a mac, JUST TO PLAY BREAKOUT. I removed that linkspam, also the Java version was buggy. What did you do? Revert!
  • For Madness Interactive, the current link was down so I fixed it. What is wrong with that???

24.19.161.152 22:12, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You added linkspam for another site to evey article you edited. --GraemeL (talk) 22:14, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Did you read my reasons of doing that? For example, Madnesscombat.com is DOWN and you still think it's linkspam... 24.19.161.152 22:16, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Then just remove the link. It isn't needed. --GraemeL (talk) 22:17, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's an article about a flash game...It's totally relevant to the article. Or is it not? 24.19.161.152 22:18, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You also added links to the same site to articles that are not about flash games ([1] and [2]). You seem to be more interested in promoting that site, rather than ensuring that links work. --GraemeL (talk) 22:22, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I must be reading that site too much. But, aren't they all relevant to the information? For example, for Crazy Frog, many of my friends also email me links to that video, and also wouldn't it be beneficial to know what software powers many Image Hosts? For example, [3] and [4] and some searching show that hostimage.de, imageswarm.com, upithere.com, photoupload.org, etc are all one of many sites powered by that script. 24.19.161.152 22:31, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anyway, if you want to go and replace the broken links on the flash articles, I won't stand in your way, but please stop posting links to the same site all over the place. --GraemeL (talk) 22:24, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I will fix Madness Interactive, what about the other three? 24.19.161.152 22:31, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Nvm, I see you've reverted. Thanks 24.19.161.152 22:32, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In fact, I've already reverted my reverts to two of the pages. I feel that the rest were justified, but let me check out the one you just mentioned. It wasn't one that I reveresed. --GraemeL (talk) 22:32, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, it was one of the ones I reverted out. Sorry for the additional confusion. I kept getting edit conflicts with you. --GraemeL (talk) 22:34, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Was reading your talk page. It's funny how lots of people with morgage or loan sites think they can get into wikipedia. ^_^ 24.19.161.152 23:44, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

still awaiting your reply

I posted 2 messages to you yesterday that went ignored, I would like to find a solution to this issue as it is really annoying being ignored on a site I have contributed to both financially and with content.

If they will pass the WP:WEB guidelines, then create articles for them and add internal links to those articles to the BitTorrent article. --GraemeL (talk) 15:02, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

An Esperanzial note

As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.

In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)

Other than that, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you an Esperanzially good new WikiYear :D Thank you! --Celestianpower háblame 16:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I could take a wild stab in the dark based on the contents of the link. ;-) Thanks for understanding that linking to a page selling a book is not exactly what the project needs. Have fun editing Wikipedia! --GraemeL (talk) 20:56, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi GraemeL, you seem to be the last admin to warn 66.99.53.29. If you wish to carry out the threats to block, he's vandalized again. Pete.Hurd 15:24, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey

Hey Graeme, How are you? I am ajay shroff and i had uploaded my link on the IPTV page and I am in the business on IPTV here in Canada. I thought my website on IPTV would have been a lot of help for the users of Wikipedia. I got a great response from it and a lot of people have bookmarked my page as well. I have bought a new domain name so that I could share my knowledge of IPTV further. I dont know what the rules are for removing links and i have tried to read the long rules and policies pages. I would appreciate if you would drop me a line at ajayshroff [at] gmail.com. I, along with many other users of wikipedia, appreciate what you guys are doing to keep wikipedia useful and clean but i feel my site was there to help and not showcase as a spam site. Ajay http://iptv.ajayshroff.com

Hi Ajay. The page contained a huge number of external links and it was impossible to work out the spam from the useful links, so I ended up just removing all of them. Go ahead and add yours back in. It looks useful to me. --GraemeL (talk) 16:23, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Puzzled about Edit

Hello Graemel,

You removed an external link to my VB Script credit card validator that I wrote for the credit card topic. What's up? I would appreciate an explanation.

Thanks

You were spamming other pages on the same site [5] which is commercial. Please stop adding links to that site. --GraemeL (talk) 21:06, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that is true. I confess I had not read the polices and guidelines until just a few moments ago. With that said, I agree the removal of the other link was justified. However, the link I added to the credit card entry was appropriate and relevant, was it not? I would like to add that link back, please advise.
No, the link does not add anything of encyclopedic value to the article. --GraemeL (talk) 21:35, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Can you explain how my link was not as relavant as external links #2,3,and 4 for the credit card topic? Or should those be removed as well? If not, then can I add my link back in? You have two links to JavaScript implementations of credit card valiadation, one link to PHP validation and yet no link to VB Script validation (which is what I provided).
All of the other links to implementations are on non-commercial sites. If you can post the script somewhere else, that might be acceptable, but the site you are linking to is primarily commercial. --GraemeL (talk) 21:45, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That is not a valid justification for excluding the link I provided. Yes Graemel, the website that hosts the information I submitted is commercial in nature, but the page that was linked to did not contain any commercial content. Someone visiting that page could theoretically click, say, the website banner and reach the homepage where *gasp* commercial content is rampant. So what? That as a justification for your continued exclusion of the content I provided is not only in conflict to the editorial rules you link to, but also in contrast to commonsense. I suspect that you do not grasp the irony of your dedication to keep any hint of commercialism (even if entirely indirect) out of a topic dedicated to the form of payment that makes most commercial transactions possible. You should relax a little and take a look at the page I linked to in context. I provided free (non-commercial!) VB Script code to validate credit card nunmbers, which is as least as relevant as the links to PHP and JavaScript validation. In fact, because server-side VB Script is more commonplace than PHP, I argue that my content is actually more relavant. If you really believe that you are providing a valuable service blocking content free of advertisments that is merely hosted on a commercial site, then I hope one day you'll cozy up next to a fire and spend some time reading some books by Milton Friedman. Until then, I think it is inappropriate for someone with your tendancies to be editor of financial topics in general, and credit cards in particular. My goodness, what will you do when Wikipedia itself begins to show advertisments, protest the whole endeavor?

reply to the commercial lin message

The only reason I left a link on the pages was it seemed other people left links and I truly thought they would help people. Especially the Adverting Slogan page were other slogan sites had links so it seemed appropriate to add a link.

You were going round a number of articles putting your link at the top of the section. That is a common spammer tactic. Please consider adding content to Wikipedia instead of external links. Most articles already have far too many links. --GraemeL (talk) 23:16, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If links are not good to add to help people find more information then the other links to the slogan generators should be removed too since they are just adding a link to a commercial site. I have a site that is helpful in creating slogans some people may find our style of doing that more comfortable for them htan the other site. About adding the links to the top when adding a link to a link list or similar the newest links go to the top. Do you agree the other link generator sites should also be removed? I think Slogan4u would make a fine addition that people could get much help from. Could you please tell me your thoughts about that? I will not go around adding links I never used this before and it seemed it would be helpful to people looking for more help and resources.
If we already have links to slogan generators, why do we need aditional links to more? WP:NOT a link repository. I'll add the article to my list of articles that I need to go through and consider if the existing links are worthwhile. --GraemeL (talk) 23:30, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I don't want to be a pain about it I just wanted to offer help to the wikipedia users. We have plenty of other links out there so we don't need this one. Thank you for your time dealing with my issues i will consider the matter closed. have a great day!!  :)

I'm assuming it's an over zealous attempt at marketing by one of our guys. I'll ask them to tone down a bit. Thanks

thanks. If you could get him to add some more technical detail to the article, that would be even better. ;-) --GraemeL (talk) 23:34, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bam Margera page

You took off the bams-world.com link saying that i spammed the page. In fact, Bams-World.com is the largest Bam fan site! Why would that be spam? If people are looking for information about bam, that site is probably where their google searches are going to take them, or other fan sites that link to it so why wouldnt Wikipedia link to it? Just doesnt make sense. you should put it on there.

Your contributions. 'Nuff said? Please consider adding content to Wikipedia, most articles already have too many external links. --GraemeL (talk) 23:45, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hypocritical

I honeslty meant no harm and was doing what I saw other companies doing. We have many tutorials and how to's that individuals could reference. That was my only intent, perhaps I went about the process all wrong. I'll conceed that. I've always enjoyed using wikipedia and have found it a useful reference and want to assist other indivduals that questions about certain topics. Please let me know if there is an easier way of doing that. Other wise, remove the other companies advertisements/helps. If you'd like me to list them I'd be happy to.

I'm not currently looking at existing links, only patrolling recent changes. If you want to supply my with some articles to go through and look at the external links on, I'll add them to my to-do list. --GraemeL (talk) 22:02, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Archive indices

There's no need to update Category:Help desk archives by hand; the bot'll do it if it pastes into a new archive. It doesn't update the indices until it's done archiving all the pages on its list, though, so it may take ten or fifteen minutes to do after it archives the help desk. —Cryptic (talk) 00:45, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Apple Pie

Good work editing out spam on the "Apple Pie" page. Also, I'm jealous of your camera. The preceding unsigned comment was added by HughMor (talk • contribs) .

Thanks, half of my watchlist seems to be dedicated to locating spam. The camera is nice, but I'm drooling over a full frame if they ever drop to a reasonable price. --GraemeL (talk) 16:39, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your Welcome

Thanks for that. I rather think it was seeing your name that made me choose mine! (As a Scot in central Pennsylvania, I find I get it pronounced right on the first attempt maybe one time in six...)

Heh. I lived in Chicago for a while and half the people pronounced it so that it sounded like creamy. --GraemeL (talk) 19:20, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese Notice

It's basically the Japanese version of the NPA template notice. I gave him an English one in return, is he still at it? Karmafist 20:09, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Somebody ended up blocking him for 24. --GraemeL (talk) 20:10, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. Do you know how we and several others got targetted by both Gobtrude and Hooting Drune? I don't think that we have crossed paths before today. I could be wrong however.
Thank you for reverting my talk page.
Lady Aleena 20:52, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No problem with the revert. I've no idea why we were targeted. I've annoyed too many spammers and vandals to count. Could be any one of them, or just random. --GraemeL (talk) 20:54, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Sentrylogin guy

Looks like you and I are battling this guy. He is starting to piss me off. Any thoughts on solutions to pursue other than revert, revert, revert? His last spam lasted for seven hours, which is too long, in my opinion. —rodii 12:46, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I've been waiting to see if he decides to give up on trying to spam the three articles he keeps hitting. If he continues, getting the URL added to the spam blacklist is probably the only option as he's using dynamic IPs. --GraemeL (talk) 13:13, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help the Official Web of Agustina Keyra

Hi Graemel,

my English is not good but I hope that you understand to me. There is an IP (24.118.19.162) that always eliminates the direction of the official Web of agustina keyra whenever the inserted one. Can you help me with this? Too this IP insert spam of seekeyra.com

Thank you.

This user also posted on my page. I told him that we wouldn't let him add the links back in. Take a look at the conversation if you want. User talk:Deskana. Thanks. -- Deskana (talk) 00:53, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Water ionizer

I'm not sure your reverts of water ionizer are entirely productive. Although the anonymous editors that have been constantly editing this article don't show good judgement in their edits (such as chopping out entire paragraphs of the article with no more explanation that "biased opinions"), there is perhaps some worth to their additions, if for nothing else than to say "these are some claims of those who use and sell water ionizers" or "a common defense to the scientific arguments against waters ionizers is...". In fact, IMO the topic would be unworthy of mention if not for the (sometimes bizarre) claims of the proponents. When I wrote the article, I pretty much just gleaned what I could from commercial websites, and I think the article would be better for having someone who actually believes water ionizers work and knows something about them write that section. As a practical matter, we'll be policing this article indefinitely if they don't get a chance to present their POV. Sigh, one of the difficulties of this site... Music lessons Edit

I added a link to my site www.musiclessonsnow.com it is one of the most popular music lessons directories for the UK and Ireland. It does not charge to search and only makes enough money to cover running costs.

Why is this not allowed?

Hi, just to let you know I have posted a reply in my User Talk. I am watching the talk as well so feel free to post a reply back there. Thanks. --MikeVella 08:52, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I would like to know why you went through and deleted my work of external links related to the topic of business cards that had been displayed on this Wikipedia entry for several months. I'm a DMOZ editor of the following relevant category for 3 years running:

http://www.dmoz.org/Shopping/Office_Products/Supplies/Stationery_and_Paper/Business_Cards/

I know a thing or two about the community and feel that the link work I did was sound and appropriate. There is much more to business cards than just collecting and the history of (as covered within the content). Please explain your position.

Respectfully submitted,

Julia M. Sgroi DMOZ editor "Sgroi"

P.S. I am in no way related to or affiliated with any of the sites that were/are listed in the external links. My goal (as it is with the Open Directory Project) is to provide relevant, accurate, and un-biased resources for user interested in the topic of business cards. Thank you.

Revert Wars-- How do you handle this?

Okay, clearly I am a newbie. I figured you would be a good person to go to for advice.

What does one do when someone insists on waging a revert war (in this case on the Prussian Blue page, where fan links are proliferating) without discussing matters reasonably? I have really given up. There just seem to be some articles that will always be highly POV.

Well, I'm not GraemeL but I happened to be reading and can offer advice. Head over to Wikipedia:Requests for page protection and list the page in question. If you can make a good argument for why the page should be protected (in this case, edit war) I will be protected and disputes will have to be resolved on the talk page otherwise the page won't get unlocked. Hope that helped! Deskana (talk) 00:38, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Covered Call

Any chance you could look at "Covered call"? Second opinion would certainly be appreciated.

Another Esperanzial note...

Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".

The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.

Yours, as ever, Esperanzially,

user:24ip

Please fill me in on the reasons for the deletion of the user talk:24ip page. Today that user, currently using a new name, claimed to have never been warned about a particular behavior, even though that warning appears on the deleted page. If you believe the reason is best kept confidential then please communicate by email. Thanks, -Will Beback 00:19, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Today I received a warning from User:Freakofnurture (at User talk:Ineloquent) not to delete other users' comments. This was apparently because I deleted two indications that someone had downloaded child pornography from Talk:LS Studio. These comments are a liability because of probable cause and could potentially cause some trouble for the Wikimedia Foundation; removing them is as justified, if not more, as deleting libel from talk pages.
I clarified and said I had never been warned for intentionally removing other people's comments with malice. This is true and I have no idea why Will has chosen to harass me over another patent mistake from ages ago.
I had User talk:24ip deleted for important security reasons and it will stay that way. I have moved all "community feedback" to a subpage in case Will Beback would like to use it for annoying me further. 24ip | lolol 00:36, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What important security reasons are those? If there is a particular edit which is a problem it can be selectively deleted. -Will Beback 00:40, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's not a particular revision, I need it to appear as if I'm gone when initially visiting the page due to a certain group of people (outside of Wikipedia). I have no problem if you want to store my warnings elsewhere, but I really need User talk:24ip to be a red link. Can you please just let it exist somewhere else? 24ip | lolol 00:46, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
