Welcome to my user talk page!

Please do all of the following:
  • Always link to the text, image, or edit you want to discuss. When linking to an image, use a colon. For example, "[[:Image:Example.jpg]]" produces "Image:Example.jpg".
  • Don't forget to provide a proper Edit Summary for each and every edit, and a proper signature for each and every post to a talk page or notice board. I may revert edits that do not have such features, rather than respond to them.
  • Reply to interactive messages at the location of the original topic to not scatter talk all around, fracturing the discussion. I do have nearly all pages I have posted to recently on my Watchlist. If I missed a comment, please use {{Talkback}} to drop me a short reminder with a link here.
  • Respect my babel boxes. Write in English. I'm also able to communicate in Spanish a bit, but with that language I can't give a guarantee that I will really comprehend the meaning of your message.
  • If you're copying files from any project to Commons, be sure to use the CommonsHelper.
  • If you're copying pics from Flickr, be sure to use Flinfo, the easy way to upload pics from Flickr.
  • If your text or image is lacking source, license, or permission, fix that instead of asking here what is wrong. There should be a message on your talk page explaining things in detail. Apologies for having to be so clear if this message is not related to the matter you would like to address.
  • Post here if you want to reach me, or reply to a post below via the edit link above that post.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Hey Jeff.

I was just trying to resize the picture File:LifeIsGood.png. Expand it...

Not a big deal one way or the other, but it'd be nice to know how.

The Wikipedia help articles are difficult to navigate and pretty recursive. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adswank (talkcontribs) 15:52, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The image File:LifeIsGood.png is currently 242 × 63 pixels (242 wide by 63 high) and looks like File:LifeIsGood.png.
At 300px wide, it would look like 300px, which has jaggies.
At 300px high, it would look like 1000x300px, which is huge and has more jaggies.
Do you have a source for a higher-resolution image that would be appropriate for the infobox on this article? I checked with the subject's website, and their new 205 × 57 pixel logo http://www.lifeisgood.com/images/redesign/SP11/nav-logo2.gif (with a Jake smiley on the left) is even smaller, so that's no help, but I found a bigger 360 × 97 pixel version of that new logo archived at http://web.archive.org/web/20060718161953/http://www.yourserve.com/lifeisgoodlogo.gif as thumbnailed by http://web.archive.org/web/20090531172633/http://www.yourserve.com/womensclothing.html - how does that strike you?   — Jeff G.  ツ 16:24, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That works great for me! I just don't want to fiddle with uploading it and whatnot. I'm concerned about sharing copyrighted material. How'd you search that page. Thanks again for your help. This is tough to break into if you don't have real-life friends who do it! Adswank (talk) 16:56, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

All done. My most useful online image search engines are Google Images and TinEye.   — Jeff G.  ツ 17:45, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Huggling

Thanks for helping out with anti-vandalism work, but please go a little slower; there are currently two reports you've made to AIV that aren't vandalism. --Floquenbeam (talk) 00:58, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your concern, allow me to explain:
To my eye, these all qualify as vandalism.   — Jeff G.  ツ 15:06, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the delay in reply, this subject is probably a bit stale now. Generally to be vandalism, there needs to be an intent to disrupt/damage things, not just that effect. Doing thing wrong and messing things up isn't vandalism, and usually calls for a note to the user rather than a report to AIV. --Floquenbeam (talk) 20:27, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sadly, four notes to User talk:BobDylanFan1994 have (through your post above) been ineffective in stemming the effects.   — Jeff G.  ツ 11:57, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gise-354x COI

Why you template Gise-354x with COI. Clearly a disruptive editor but I didn't get COI ducky from the use, so what is your rationale?--Cerejota (talk) 02:20, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That user seemed (from the edits I was exposed to today via Huggle and from the user's user talk page) to be very persistent in edit warring to keep that user's opinions in (or to keep others' opinions out of) article Koch Industries and related articles concerning the activities of the majority owners of that company. That user also seems to be belligerent in its interactions on its user talk page. For the record: I was unaware at the time that the various Georgia-Pacific and Invista products I have used or admired in the past were made by a subsidiary of that company; and I may have used some petroleum products or eaten some beef that was made by a subsidiary of that company, as I generally purchase unbranded petroleum products and beef from retailers.   — Jeff G.  ツ 02:45, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This note is just to let you know that you mis-tagged Booboobadingdingmachine as a foreign language article. I'm not saying it's encyclopedic! I'm not sure I know what it is. Best Cloveapple (talk) 03:29, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I tagged it using Huggle with "A2 - wrong project", which I guess should be renamed "wrong language" given its definition. I think some sort of poetry or sources project would be most suitable for the original article containing poetry. Acroterion deleted it as "A1: Not enough context to identify article's subject: probably copyright violation". That was one of my contenders, along with G3 and possibly G1. Anyway, it's gone, good riddance. :)   — Jeff G.  ツ 03:37, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, it definitely wasn't an article! I just couldn't figure out what to tag it as. Cloveapple (talk) 03:53, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Jeff,

I did not intended to remove the speedy deletion tag. I did infact reply on the talk page as to why the deletion was unwise.

Thanks,

Hi, I just received a warning from you about the Kyle Lafferty page. I can promise that I never wrote those comments and if you look I was trying to delete comments accusing him of being a racist and change the transfer fee that had been changed to something stupid. I am a huge Rangers supporter and I can prove this if needed, I would never Ever write anything like that link apparently says I did. Is it not possible there was a mistake and it is showing up as me that added that text when all I was doing was deleting the derogatory text?

Surely the fact I have gone to this trouble to message you as well shows that something may be wrong, I appreciate you are just doing your job and I actually think you all do a great job so is there any chance you could look into this please? As I said I am willing to prove my identity and prove I am a Rangers supporter if needed. This is actually really annoying as I am sure you can understand.

Thanks,

In addition to the info on your user talk page, why don't you sign your posts, use Edit Summaries, and create an account?   — Jeff G.  ツ 12:06, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

August 2011

Hi Jeff G.. Thank you for your work on patrolling new pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for File:L.PC Repair logo.jpg, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to look at the suggested tasks for patrollers and review the criteria for speedy deletion. Particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion, proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. Reaper Eternal (talk) 15:50, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry if I was overzealous. The image is copyrighted and promotional, and it was used to promote article L.PC Repair (since deleted) by its uploader WP:SPA 19therealest (talk · contribs) (since blocked), which article is unlikely to be recreated with verifiable references and a valid claim to notability by Wednesday, 31 August 2011 (the time limit for WP:SD#F5). Having reviewed the pages you suggested, I find that WP:SD#G11, like all general speedy deletion criteria, can apply to any type of page, including files, per "These apply to all namespaces (and so apply to articles, redirects, user pages, talk pages, files, etc)" at WP:SD#General. Furthermore, your suggestions WP:PROD and WP:PRODBLP do not apply to files, the former and WP:FFD each take seven days, and the latter takes ten days. The whole point of my tag was immediate eligibility for deletion per WP:DENY, over and above WP:SD#F5. Thus, I reject your entire argument and boilerplate above, and ask that you please retract it forthwith (deleting this response and your Edit Summary for this edit too).   — Jeff G.  ツ 03:55, 26 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
CSD F5 (orphaned fair-use image), which covers this type of image, had already been applied by Sfan 00 IMG (talk · contribs). CSD G11 does not apply since the image is not promotional—it is a company logo that could be used for critical discussion of the company. We have many fair-use company logo on Wikipedia being used for critical commentary on the company. WP:DENY definitely does not apply as that was an essay on dealing with trolls/long term vandals, and the uploader is certainly not a troll. In addition, when you said "delete the response and edit summary", did you mean revert? Thanks. Reaper Eternal (talk) 16:26, 26 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The History of Minor League Baseball

Were the Bradenton Marauders really founded in 1989 or is it actually 1957. If the team was founded in 1957 well it should say it was founded in 1957 instead of 1989 and it should then have the information that the team was affiliated with the phillies under affiliates. Also the information should also be in the navbox as well. Just because the information is on one page doesn't mean it is not allowed to be on another page. I am not making up history, im telling what the history really is when the club was founded. I am also not trying to copyright either. I only change the wording in the sentence to make it more pleasing and less confusing if someone else was reading the article. I don't change the information itself. Im also not taking credit for the work either. Do you actually have information that the Tampa team is not related to the marauders. Yes, I did become an official user. Also what was the problem with the blueclaws article. There was nothing wrong about adding J.P. Riddle Stadium were the franchise previously played under franchise history. I am a blueclaws fan by the way. Patriotsball (talk) 03:03, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is that info from a reliable source? Can we verify it? Thanks!   — Jeff G.  ツ 03:07, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: John Flowers Edit

Hi Jeff,

In relation to the John flowers page I work for Mr Flowers as a staffer and was asked to add the content as it is constructive to the man himself.

How can I go about locking this page?

Kind Regards

Thanks for taking the time to provide me with those details! Considering the speech was to a parliment and does detail information that is in public interest, will providing the direct link to the speech on the NSW parliament's website stop this from being removed? Treasures1950 (talk) 03:38, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, we have another project for speeches and other writings, Wikisource (assuming you can get the writer to release the rights).   — Jeff G.  ツ 03:48, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mind rebooting your Huggle session?

It seems to be encountering errors, such as reporting IPs to UAA, and you also warned him for an ENGVAR violation when he hasn't edited for over a week. Thanks. Reaper Eternal (talk) 15:32, 26 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
