Reddogsix,
I really need you're help and guidance. I wrote only my second article for wiki and I actually feel including Kenny Tick Salcido only adds to my artile on the Mike D related group the Latch Brothers. I feel his work with Beastie Boys along with his work with (I researched this extensively) artists on several labels including Wiz Khalifa (another Wiki inductee) early in Wiz Khalifa's career is important to the lineage. I am hoping to be a better author and I plan to add more links and a more info - In general a better article for you to check.

Thank you for you're time.

I understand your copyright concerns, but am not sure this website is a problem. In most cases in the United States, freelance writers sell first publication rights only to a magazine article, and the rights to further use of the article are the property of the author not the magazine publisher. I note that the article is not on the online archives of GQ, so the author may well have the legitimate right to use the article on their own website to document their career. I am a freelance writer myself and have just such an arrangement with a company that has published dozens of my articles.

As it relates to the AfD debate, though, this article plus the others I linked to should be sufficient to establish Comisar's notability and also to dispel any WP:BLP1E concerns. Have you read the articles? Your thoughts? Cullen328 Let's discuss it 19:47, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the explanation. If you feel there is no copyright issue, I have no problem seeing the author's article reinstated. As far as the AfD goes, there appears to be enough support to bypass any WP:BLP1E or WP:NOTABILITY concerns. Thanks again for your help. reddogsix (talk) 22:28, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The wikipedia article for Mizozo was removed under A7 which states "No indication of importance (individuals, animals, organizations, web content)." I have some points of considerations for you to rethink about the decision - - Novel idea - The site has the novel idea of letting people contribute by arguing, collaborating, etc. to build on a news from all perspectives. - Importance - The site has contributed to wikipedia articles and also has had contribution from people in the news. - Not a marketing attempt - The site is completely non-profit and has not tried any means of marketing or SEO. - Wikipedia references - The site's articles have been cited for different articles on Wikipedia. - Femen - We are US media partners for FEMEN

I respect the integrity of Wikipedia and would love to hear from you on suggestions on making the article better.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by JohnnyScotch (talkcontribs) 22:23, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It appears the article lacks WP:NOTABILITY. Please see the section concerning organizations and use that as a guide for improving the article. reddogsix (talk) 22:26, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Clubtelco

Please try not to tag articles for speedy deletion only one minute after they're created. A quick Internet search for Clubtelco almost immediately disproved the presumption of non-notability. - The Bushranger One ping only 04:32, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tool for you!

Hi Reddogsix! I've just come across one of your edits (or that you have been patrolling new pages), and noticed that you might appreciate some help with references.

I case you're not aware, you might consider using this tool – it makes your life a whole heap easier, by filling in complete citation templates for your links. All you do is install the script:

// Add [[WP:Reflinks]] launcher in the toolbox on left
addOnloadHook(function () {
 addPortletLink(
  "p-tb", // toolbox portlet
  "http://toolserver.org/~dispenser/cgi-bin/webreflinks.py/" + wgPageName
   + "?client=script&citeweb=on&overwrite=&limit=30&lang=" + wgContentLanguage,
  "Reflinks" // link label
)});

onto Special:MyPage/skin.js, then paste the bare URL (without [...] brackets) between your <ref></ref> tabs, and you'll find a clickable link called Reflinks in your toolbox section of the page (probably in the left hand column). Then click that tool. It does all the rest of the work (provided that you remember to save the page! It doesn't work for everything (particularly often not for PDF documents), but for pretty much anything ending in "htm" or "html" (and with a title) it will do really, really well. So long! --Sp33dyphil ©© 05:15, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Great, thanks for the help and guidance! reddogsix (talk) 05:18, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Query speedy deletion nomination of Lady Georgie Windsor

Hi. I'm wondering why you nominated Lady Georgie Windsor for speedy deletion. It was asserted in the text that she is a member of the British Royal Family, so that alone is notability enough. I have declined the speedy deletion, but because the article is unreferenced, I have tagged it for PRODBLP. Stephen! Coming... 20:20, 29 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You are right that there is asserted notability; however, as 28th in line for the crown I did not think it was significant enough to bypass a CSD and substitute a PROD. I understand your conservative stance and will probably use your actions as a guide going forward. Thanks for your help. reddogsix (talk) 22:07, 29 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Mind you, I did do a bit of digging, as I thought it wouldn't be any hassle to add some references myself. Turns out this is probably a hoax, so I've nominated it for deletion anyway! Stephen! Coming... 22:26, 29 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I also looked at GHits and GNEWS and was unable to find references, but I was concerned that since I was unfamiliar with the royal family I might be missing something.reddogsix (talk) 23:12, 29 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of The Laiho Trio

Hi rd6! I agree what you said about lacking GHits and GNEWS. However, I want to point out that trios career was made before the time of the Internet and it's hard to find any information from that source. For me their value is more historical than beeing G -famous. On the other hand I'd say they are famous enough.

I'm running my own agency and every now and then I get inquiries like what happened to them or are they still living. I did some research and here is the summary. Quite many accordionists are aware of the trio and about their achievments. They were pioneers raising accordion to be valued as a classical instrument. Neither, there are still no composings, repertoire or recordings for three accordions beside what they've produced.

They also managed to reach something which is called an American dream, "the United States, a land of hope and glory".

I'm asking to give me some time to improve the article and convince you that they should be found at wikipedia. --Sireti-3 (talk) 13:34, 30 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The criteria for getting an article on Wikipedia is not being famous, but being notable. Notability is established by meeting the criteria in WP:NOTABLE or in this case WP:MUSIC. Support does not have to be on the internet, it can be from newspapers, magazines, or other sources. You indicated that you did some research, I assume you have those sources and they can be used to support the article.
I have created an AfD for the article that should give you at least 10 days to provide sources and others may be able to help. Good luck. reddogsix (talk) 15:14, 30 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yea!!! I Love Candied Apples!!! Thanks...
P.S. Boo!

I removed the BLPProd from Sternberg's article because there was a reference there to IMDb. FYI... A change in September to BLPProd requirements now allow any reference, reliable or not, to be sufficient to not have a BLPProd tag added.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Bgwhite (talkcontribs)

Thanks, I must have missed that change. reddogsix (talk) 15:09, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

PROD

Hi Reddogsix. Regarding the PROD nomination of Lisa Irwin, I believe the media traction the event has received should be sufficient to establish notability. It may be useful to move the article from the name "Lisa Irwin" (implying a BLP) to something like "Kidnapping of Lisa Irwin" (implying coverage of the event itself), however. I'd be happy to discuss the matter further, and will shortly list a number of sources regarding the case to the talk page or article. I'd appreciate it if we could have that discussion prior to prodding the article. Thanks.   — Jess· Δ 18:16, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a list of sources (including a number of national news agencies) to the talk page. I believe this should be sufficient to establish that the event is notable, and not a "local event". I'd be happy to continue the discussion there. Thanks.   — Jess· Δ 18:28, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Cool...I'll change the name to "Kidnapping of Lisa Irwin". reddogsix (talk) 21:03, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Collaborative Intelligence - related articles

Hi Reddogsix - Three related articles: Collaborative Intelligence, Microbes Mind Forum (up for speedy deletion) and Zann Gill (ditto) are connected. All concern Collaborative Intelligence, which I think is important. Why not make a quick decision on the last two and either keep or delete both? Impressive job you're doing w/ Wikipedia; I'm pretty new, so I don't know all the rules, but I've done substantial work on the Collaborative Intelligence article, started new pages for Eshel Ben-Jacob (now a Wiki Israel project) and J Scott Turner. Ark2 (talk) 18:33, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Since this individual appears to be lacking somewhat in internet coverage, should that automatically deem him non-notable?

Since the article has been considered for deletion, what would you advise to improve it?

As the nature of his work in conservation has taken him to many remote destinations where people may not typically report news by creating internet articles (or even have access the net at all), much of his work has actually been covered by newspapers and such. His contributions have been extremely valuable in protecting endangered species. I assume the only thing that is required would be more sources? Are references to publications and newspaper issues relevant? Perhaps this should be a stub for the time being, but I wouldn't agree with outright deletionNeutral0886 (talk) 18:32, 5 November 2011 (UTC)neutralNeutral0886 (talk) 18:32, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Real world notability is not the same as Wikipedia notability. The criteria for inclusion of Wikipedia articles is the establishment of the subject's notability. In this case, the article WP:BIO specifically addresses what is necessary to meet the criteria. You are right that more valid sources would probably save the article, but the sources need to meet criteria for validity. reddogsix (talk) 18:44, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I am not familiar with the English Wikipedia rules concerning WP:PROD. This template was removed from the article Doron Braunshtein, by the user who created this entry. The existence of this article was mentioned in a "proposed deletion" discussion in the Hebrew Wikipedia, and used by some users to substantiate this person's significance. Please advice. Best wishes, חיפה-חיפה-עיר-עם-עתיד (talk) 22:09, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dorota Malek

Your PROD on Dorota Malek has been challenged. You may like to take it to AfD. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:58, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I have done that. reddogsix (talk) 16:10, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Collaborative Intelligence

Hi Reddogsix (continuation of above) I’m a newcomer to Wikipedia. I joined because I’m completing a PhD on Collaborative Intelligence, saw that the article was poor and wanted to put in place a framework so others could contribute. Since joining in September, my main contribution is a new Wiki bio page on Israeli physicist Eshel Ben-Jacob (whose work is relevant for Collaborative Intelligence). That page is now a Wiki Israel project. My objective was to continue to add short articles relevant to Collaborative Intelligence, some of which might be stubs for awhile.

Method If the Collaborative Intelligence article is viewed as a process of engaging the collaborative intelligence of Wikipedia contributors (and others who may not be Wikipedians but who are doing relevant research), i.e. itself an experiment in Collaborative Intelligence, then it can start with a framework to which others can contribute.

eg. I attended CrowdConf 2011 on November 2 where many spoke about the next generation of crowd-sourcing platforms that can enable effective aggregation and collaborative intelligence. I aimed to engage leaders in the crowdsourcing community to contribute to the section of the Wikipedia Collaborative Intelligence article entitled Crowdsourcing – Precursor Platform for Collaborative Intelligence

I’ve joined Wikipedia specifically to build a knowledge network around Collaborative Intelligence (main article + cluster of related articles). Two websites labeled CoI in the Collaborative Intelligence article pointed to the work of Aaron Koblin, who has a bio on Wikipedia. I asked him to post a couple of art projects that represented Collaborative Intelligence. I guess I should have asked him to send me the links, so I could post them since posting links to his own website was viewed as CoI?

Background info:

  1. Crowdsourcing. There were few publications in 2008, nearly 4000 last year. At CrowdConf 2011 last week, several speakers mentioned Wikipedia as a crowdsourcing pioneer. Crowdsourcing is expected to grow exponentially next year. That community is inspired by Wikipedia.
  2. Collaborative Intelligence is a few years behind crowdsourcing, since it needs more sophisticated crowdsourcing platforms, now being developed.
  3. Microbes-Mind Forum & Zann Gill – both stub articles in this knowledge cluster; could you make a decision and either leave them with stub tags to grow gradually (my preference) or delete them, since it’s been seven days? I've added refs to the Microbes Mind Forum article. Okay for me to delete the tag and let it grow over time?
  4. Wikipedia articles on Wikipedia. Since Wikipedia itself is an ideal example of effective crowd-sourcing and collaborative intelligence, there could be more information on research about, and lessons learned from, Wikipedia itself. As part of developing the article on Collaborative Intelligence, I’d like to link to research on how Wikipedia is an example of collaborative intelligence. Ark2 (talk) 01:21, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your comments. Take a look at the discussion on your talk page. Also take a look at the Welcome message on your talk page and pay particular attention to the links in the message. If you have any specific questions about the links or Wikipedia, please let me know. reddogsix (talk) 03:39, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your response. But frankly I'm doing a PhD late in life while holding a senior position. I don't have time. I'll do a little to clean up that article, maybe post occasional info re what's going on in my knowledge domain. That's all. I added refs yesterday, just before the Microbes Mind Forum article was deleted. I'd appreciate if you and/or Ron Ritzman could restore it as a stub that will grow (sorry I couldn't get to this sooner). I've also written to Ron Ritzman who deleted that article. Ark2 (talk) 19:52, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reddogsix,

...please help explain the edits made on "amvona" page... aren't web references important to establishing notability? Thanks for the clarification... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thesilentplanet (talkcontribs) 03:55, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

These items do nothing to establish Wikipedia notability and are just fluff. Wikipedia notability is established by meeting the criteria in WP:NOTABILITY or WP:WEB. Take a look at the two links and let me know if you have any questions. reddogsix (talk) 04:09, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your feedback about the proposed deletion of the Greensboro roller derby page. I'm working on locating more sources. The league has had some news spots that seem to be no longer available online. How long do we have before the page is deleted? Englshivy (talk) 21:28, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You will have at least 7 days before a decision is made. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions. reddogsix (talk) 22:10, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comments; however, I do not see there are significant references to support WP:BIO or WP:POLITICIAN. I have converted this to a AfD to get more comments as to the subject's WP:NOTABILITY. reddogsix (talk) 02:41, 12 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Good luck, let me know if you have any questions. reddogsix (talk) 02:56, 12 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your nomination was understandable, as the original article was indeed poorly written, poorly sourced, and had a strongly biased and promotional point of view. I've just spent some time using a sandblaster to rewrite the article... to remove any sense of promotion, make it more neutral and encyclopedic, and to add suitable sources. While I personally do not agree with the filmmaker's method of trying to equate the Holocaust with women's rights and abortion, our inclusion requirements require verifiability, and not truth. Perhaps you might stop by 180 Documentary, look at how it was when when firest nominated and how it now appears after some work. I believe, whether we might like the topic or not, WP:NF is now shown as being met. Best regards, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 05:02, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Sun Jones

Hi Reddogsix. Just to let you know, I've declined the A7 speedy deletion you suggested for this article, on the basis that the subject has at least a little third-party coverage. Question: Maintenance Templates

Hi Reddogsix. Thank you for your comment to my changes. I am new to this, and am testing out how to edit and become an active user of Wikipedia. With that said, maybe you can answer a question for me. I removed the maintenance template from the page because the maintenance was performed, and the section in question was properly fixed. The maintenance template referred to copied and pasted text from another source. The paragraph was altered to contain the information, but not to be a copy and paste. Now that the article is not in need of maintenance on this particular issue, what is the correct process for getting the template removed?

Any guidance you can give me would be awesome. I plan on contributing as much as I can, and learning these things is key for me. Thank you Jamesmcgrey (talk) 01:04, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I reviewed the changes and the issues were not addressed by any of the changes you made. I removed the copy and paste tag from the article as it does not appear to apply. reddogsix (talk) 01:14, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me but why are you keep doing this? The magazine is notable in Serbia, where it gets more than 170,000 hits per month. Please do not continue nominating the article for deletion. (User:Belgrade011) —Preceding undated comment added 19:05, 18 November 2011 (UTC).[reply]

The number of hits a website gets has no bearing on its notability. Notability is established by providing verifable, independent references for an article. reddogsix (talk) 19:08, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
But i gave the references - the links bellow the articles. What other references it should have? What should I do (edit) to keep the article saved?(User:Belgrade011) —Preceding undated comment added 19:14, 18 November 2011 (UTC).[reply]
None of the references in the article are reliable or independent. reddogsix (talk) 19:57, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The criterion does not apply to any article that makes any credible claim of significance or importance even if the claim is not supported by a reliable source or does not qualify on Wikipedia's notability guidelines.

This article no longer qualifies for speedy deletion and the {{db-person}} template you added to this article should be removed. Manicjedi (talk) 02:54, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
