Thanks for uploading :Image:Riyadh airport.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as fairusein or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Al-Muhaidib

Hi, Things to bear in mind generally are:

More specifically, have a look at WP:CORP.

Personally, I'd be inclined to keep any additional company information within the holding company article, unless they are really notable in their own right. But, as they say, Wikipedia:Be bold in updating pages - people will tell you if they disagree, and don't take that personally.

Happy editing! Dlyons493 Talk 16:40, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Western Sahara

Hi, here is a vote related to Western Sahara, it's about the neutrality of wikipedia in this conflict, are you interested? Daryou 18:28, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Translation request

Hello, I saw that you are a native speaker of Arabic, so I would like to ask you if you could take a look at 2003 invasion of Iraq and Iraq War. There is a featured article in Arabic which we would like to know how it could be used the English one which is of course dominated by people who have either been there as soldiers or have their knowledge from western media. Someone also asked if the section about "related propaganda and phrases" could be amplified with information about the Iraqi side. Maybe there are also people who took photos in Iraq at the Arabic version? Nameme 16:36, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ak almuhaidib 2.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL-self to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. I see that you made a good choice lol, btw I fixed some redirects again, some got double redirect so it got a bit messy, also did the changes in the main HSBC article. salam ;) --Muhaidib 08:04, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I tend to forget to fix the double redirects. I will try to pay more attention next time :) . - Eagletalk 08:13, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
:lol no problem, don't mind me askin', are you saudi, or where you just born there. I am saudi but I study in montreal. I am editing the Riyadh city article, want to add a city infobox, if I found a pic somewhere in the net and want to use it, is that cool or someone will bi*** at me ? :P --Muhaidib 08:21, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, Saudi born and raised in Dhahran (which is why the article is so big!). I will see what I can do with the infobox, but I made several requests that the Riyadh article be expanded years ago, so finally someone will take care of it which is good. About images, if you must use a photo from an online source, the copyright holder should either permit you to do so in writing or, more often, it can be just implied from the copyright status or its statement. As a rule, you may use any image produced by the United States federal government or any agency, including the military (therefore it's easy to find free images in .gov and .mil domains). Don't forget to add the appropriate tag and source so that you don't get one of those creepy OrphanBot messages (he's orphan, so easy on him!). I sometimes see images from Flickr, I'm not sure if it's ok (check copyright on each image before upload), it's a very good source for many places and things in Saudi Arabia.
If you feel like it, perhaps you could help with other Saudi-related articles, just check the Category:Saudi Arabia stubs and its subcats as well as Category:Saudi Arabia. It was a complete mess months ago when I first created them, but it's getting better. There aren't many Saudis helping so it's a bit difficult but it's improving nonetheless. Good luck. - Eagletalk 08:40, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

--Muhaidib 18:30, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Greetings. I made a few minor edits and removed the template from the Saudi Arabia article as it does not belong there.. other Saudi-related templates exist but you can't put them all in the main article! However, you may want to add it to the list of Saudi cities. I don't really understand what you mean by a small flag since there is already a flag. Cheers. - Eagletalk 00:56, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Summaries

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

- Eagletalk 01:34, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's a weird way, you can complain here I guess. You can email other users, but mine isn't enabled. About the Wikiproject, I'm trying to jot some notes first (kinda busy lately) but of course, you are welcome to go ahead and start the thing. About areas, it's really difficult to find statistics about Saudi Arabia... I would just add '?' in place of unknown values. - Eagletalk 01:45, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Prince names instead of mayors

Hi there. I just thought maybe prince names should be reserved for provinces, on which they are appointed. For cities, it's best to state the mayor's name. I think Riyadh could be an exception (prince of province is also mayor of city?? not sure about this). Another thing, the Eastern Province is governed by Prince Muhammad bin Fahd, not Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz (who died 22 years ago). - Eagletalk 22:01, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Images

Thanks for uploading images of Saudi Arabia topics. But there's a problem. Since you didn't take these photographs yourself, you can't release them under the GFDL like the pictures say. Could you put information about where the images came from? Are they from a book, or the web, or what? Thanks, – Quadell (talk) (bounties) 20:51, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I thought the article never existed. It's strange that I didn't have it on my watchlist. Anyway I did what I could for this time. I'm not too familiar with the topic so I couldn't add as much information as format. - Eagletalk 06:20, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

STC is like SABIC, mostly government-owned. However for the sake of consistency it is defined as public (like any company with partial IPO).
I have articles that didn't exist yet on my watchlist, so this article being a stub or substub doesn't explain why it wasn't there.
Mobily, or Ittehad (sp?) should be added as one article for the company. Please make sure the link in the list of Sadui companies (or Tadawul?) turns blue to eliminate conflict like the one happened in Bank Al-Bilad. - Eagletalk 07:08, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I was going to upload this image to Commons, so that it could be used by other wikis, but I'm not quite sure about the licensing. Does the government of Saudi Arabia release its images as GFDL? I honestly don't know -- I'm just being cautious, that's all. I'd normally expect PD at best. Thanks! Bansp 22:17, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the govt. of Saudi Arabia is not so much concerned about copyrights and that kindda stuff,, i took it from the govt. site somewhere lol --Muhaidib 22:27, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I can hardly use that to justify a free license tag at Commons :-) Well, thanks anyway, Bansp 00:16, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

KAEC

Hey there, I'm sorry if I interrupted or made edit conflicts. The reason I rushed is because I know that OrphanBot will list the image for deletion once it's removed from all pages. - Eagletalk 22:33, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ohhh okk,, don't worry i'll put it in now :D --Muhaidib 22:38, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New template

Hi, the template could be useful, though there is already expand so it might get deleted. Regardless, don't you think it should be placed in the talk page? - Eagletalk 10:41, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bold "m"

The bold "m" next to one's name on a given article or contribution history or watchlist signifies that the edit next to which it is placed was marked as minor by the editor (see WP:ME for more). Thanks for uploading Image:Dammam1.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Wikipedia Survey

Hi. I'm doing a survey of Wikipedia editors as part of a class research project. It's quick, anonymous, and the data will be made available to the Wikipedia community later this month. Would you like to take part? More info here. Thanks! Nonplus 23:39, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Signature

It's quite simple:

 1. Create a subpage under your user page (mine is User:Jtrost/Signature) and on it put whatever you want your signature to be.
 2. Click on "my preferences" at the top of any page and in the "user profile" tab insert , so mine is
 3. Test it out somewhere and fine tune it. Most user's have their own sandbox. For example I have one at User:Jtrost/Sandbox.

I hope this helps. Jtrost (T | C | #) 01:49, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Map of Mecca

I think you were the one who uploaded a Photoshopped version of a satellite map showing Mecca. You labelled it "Holy city of Mecca". That is POV. Can you remove the legend and just label the city Mecca, using the English name? If you don't, I'll have to remove the map. Zora 07:34, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

sure thing, i'll do it tommorow i am kindda busy with other articles now,, peace --muhaidib (Talk | #info) 07:35, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rose & Bernard

Hi. In the future could you please use the talk page to discuss changes such as creating new pages for characters and adding new links to the template before you actually do it? And a Rose & Bernard flashback has not been officiall confirmed anyway, so those changes you made are extremely speculative. Thanks. Jtrost (T | C | #) 11:24, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

okay.. but I am talking about this week's episode, the one in "march sweeps" and it has been confirmed by ABC and givin all the info, the ones we are not sure about are the ones in the "may sweeps" including(Two for the Road, "?", Three Mintues and The Foundation part 1&2), so thats why I am not writing anything about them, I have enough info to add Two for the Road to the list but not "?" and futher so I didn't add them to the list. I didn't create a page for "The Foundation part 1&2" because the title is subject to change. anyways remmember how Locke in season one wasn't that important in the couple of episodes, I am not saying they will be as important, personally I don't think bernard and rose are gonna be important, anyways, we'll talk again after april 12 ok :P,,, peace --muhaidib-- (Talk | #info | ) 14:28, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Muhaidib, could you please let me know if the image you uploaded, Image:Lost no image.png, is created by you? You say it is, but have put the logo template on it. If you did not make the image, it is therefore copyrighted and must be removed from the template itself and included in some sort of article, or is may be deleted. Please let me know which is which. Thanks, Kilo-Lima|(talk) 19:12, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

hmm,,, i guess that got out by mistake,, I didn't create it lol,, I fixed the thing,, its a kindda logo and promotional,, have you seen LOST? this is a still from the animation clip that you see before the episode starts, every one who sees lost know's it,, hope this helps :D

Template:User Simpsons Movie

Hi, it soen't really matter what it is. You can't use copyrighted images, which are tagged as fair-use outside of articles. Please see WP:FUC for details. Thanks. --Doc ask? 23:45, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do not pull that stunt again. The image you uploadeded as PD was obviously identical to the 'fair use' copyrighted image. We take copyright seriously in wikipedia, and we block editors who put the project in legal danger. --Doc ask? 00:14, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

List of Lost episodes

Greetings, it was a bit difficult translating Arabish to Arabic to English, but I think I got the main point. My first arguement would be questioning the List of The Simpsons episodes, List of 24 episodes, List of Seinfeld episodes, and even the List of South Park episodes (another user has already stirred that argument). Although the page may fail WP:FAN, I can't see why the other lists don't (if this one does). So they should either be all kept or all deleted. I am not familiar with the subject matter and therefore prefer not to interfere, but like I said, I can't see much difference, if any at all, between Lost and, say, 24; hence it makes no sense that one has a list and the other doesn't. - Eagle(talk) 05:19, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Inappropriate (unencyclopaedic) captions on Lost summary photos

Hey. Saw your captions (e.g., "Looks like love is in the air") for S.O.S. (Lost). These strike me as completely unencyclopaedic, and represent exactly what some users have expressed in terms of concerns about fancruft creeping into the dozens of episode summaries that have now been created. I will be reverting those captions, but would like to request that you not insert any others like them. Your guide should be, "Would I see something like this in an encyclopedia?" Thanks. -- PKtm 20:17, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removing people's comments on talk pages

Muhaidib, it's actually not appropriate for you to edit comments on talk pages that you disagree with, as you did with Talk:Lost (TV series). If you disagree with something someone has said, post your own reply/rebuttal, but you can't remove what they've said and then (erroneously) cite the Wikipedia POV policy as justification for doing so. Talk pages are (appropriately) riddled with POV statements; that's what they're there for. -- PKtm 21:29, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Results of the straw poll

Muhaidib, here we go again. It's not appropriate for you to take the sheer numbers (22 vs 12) of the straw poll on Lost and boldly decide that the result has been determined, and act accordingly. I think you can see, from the discussion, that we have anything but a consensus. Please refer to Wikipedia:Current surveys for guidelines on what a straw poll actually means. Specifically, (bolding added by me),

Surveys may be used as part of dispute resolution, or to solicit opinions before making significant changes. They can be useful in developing consensus when community opinion is not immediately obvious in normal discussion. For example, a survey may bring in opinions from people who agree with one position, but don't join the discussion because they don't feel they have anything original to add.
For ideas on designing a survey, see Wikipedia:Straw polls. The results of a survey are not binding, and may be subject to interpretation. A survey may sometimes be called a poll, and it may involve voting for different options, but it is not the same thing as an election. For information on elections related to Wikipedia, see Wikipedia:Elections.
Opinion surveys should be used to determine whether a consensus exists, not to decide which side "wins". Successful surveys and polls can never generate consensus, they can only show an existing consensus, if any. Using a survey may be useful because some people who disagree will nevertheless recognize and accept the consensus opinion of the community

I have reverted your many edits (redirects of the season pages, etc.) -- PKtm 20:33, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

I've seen you working constantly around wikipedia, and I just wanted to thank you. I also see how certain people (whose names I'll leave out), constantly try to undermine your work (often by stooping so low as to insult your grammar instead of contributing to the discussions). I also wanted to say that I'm here to help defend you and your edits. So thanks for the hard work (even though I know you have exams now =]). ArgentiumOutlaw 06:19, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am the one who should be thanking you, I seen what you where saying to the guys at the Talk:List of Lost episodes, thanks for standing up and every thing, it's true that I have exams but I can still do a couple of important edits a day --muhaidib-- (Talk | #info | ) 13:03, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair Use images on Your User page

Please remove them, see WP:FUC #9. Thanks. feydey 15:34, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Riyadh tv tower.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: TemplateName.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Nivus(talk) 11:12, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
