Deletion of page 'Not Just Fate'

This page was deleted as 'Copyright violation' and amazon's link of the same book was mentioned. I am authorized by the author to create this page. Please suggest if I should use any tags to avoid this page from deletion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abhishekjindal12 (talkcontribs) 11:03, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi Abhishekjindal12. First, you will need to identify the copyright holder of the text on the Amazon site. You may know this already, but I suspect it belongs to either the book's publisher or—depending on Amazon's content policy—Amazon themselves. Let's assume that the publisher owns the writes to the blurb. You should follow our donating copyrighted materials instructions, particularly the section entitled WP:DCM#Granting us permission to copy material already online. This will involve sending a message to the Wikimedia Foundation from the publisher, showing that they are happy for this re-use.
Alternatively, if (due to Amazon's policies) they own rights to the text (like they may well do if it's a customer review or similar), there's probably not a lot that can be done. Without reading through their T&Cs, I suspect they do not licence their material for reuse for commercial projects (though Wikipedia itself isn't commercial, our licence is such that our content can be reused by commercial organisations).
The third factor to consider, regardless of whether we can reuse the text on Wikipedia, is whether it is appropriate. As the content was not originally written for Wikipedia, it may not be suitable. Does it conform to our neutral point of view policy? Does it have numerous reliable references? On first look at the deleted page, it seems that it may struggle to pass both of those policies.
Thanks for your message—let me know if you need any more help with this. Cheers, matt (talk) 09:32, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
Hello Mattgirling,
Appreciate your reply. I am a new contributor and still learning.
I have contacted author as per amazon's author page http://www.amazon.com/Shilpa-Arora-Sharma/e/B0091EUAN8, the Author owns the copyright of the work and has sent a permission email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org from admin@shilpaarorasharma.com (where www.shilpaarorasharma.com is the official website of the author)
For the second factor and third factor, the author owns the copyrights for the material and further, I re-wrote the description of the book specifically for wikipedia during my last attempt of the page creation and such a description has not been published before about the book. Please un-delete the last created page for 'Not Just Fate' and I request you to help me in modifying the content further to make it suitable for wikipedia. ::Thanks once again. Thanks, I'm happy to restore the page, which I have done (but added some tags on the page to make it clear the page needs work). I'm more than happy to work with you on this article. I appreciate you're a new user, but you clearly know more about this subject than I do—equally, I know how Wikipedia's formatting system works, so I can help in that regard. Orphaned non-free media (File:Thamesdiamondjubileepageantlogo.gif)

Thanks for uploading File:Thamesdiamondjubileepageantlogo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:20, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

Little Mix

Has it been confirmed that their album is called DNA? — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 19:07, 16 September 2012 (UTC)

Not to my knowledge. I've turned the DNA (Little Mix album) article into a redirect for the time-being, pending any sources. matt (talk) 20:35, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
Actually it was confirmed here but its probably too soon for an article to be created. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 20:40, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
Looks as if that article was published after I made any edits about "DNA". I agree about the album article—it's too soon; we have no reliable sources that give us information that can't already be concisely included in the group article—but I also didn't create the original article... matt (talk) 20:43, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
Ah no that's fine I just mentioned cause you seemed interested in the article. Its useful information. I've yet to "fly" with Little Mix on their "Wings" yet... — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 21:11, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
Ah I see. I'm only interested as this seems to gather quite a lot of traffic, and thus vandalism or unconstructive (but WP:AGF) edits. I can't say I've even heard "Wings" yet—not the sort of Wings I'm into musically...! matt (talk) 21:15, 16 September 2012 (UTC)

Done Deleted. matt (talk) 07:09, 19 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi Matt,
Just to let you know. Danny has made his first edits on WP. We know our way round WP better than he, so can you help me to keep an eye on any problems he might run into with COI, secondary sources, and all the other WP policies we have. Thanks. --Aspro (talk) 14:42, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

Page Curation newsletter

Hey MIDI. I'm dropping you a note because you used to (or still do!) patrol new pages. This is just to let you know that we've deployed and developed Page Curation, which augments and supersedes Special:NewPages - there are a lot of interesting new features :). There's some help documentation here if you want to familiarise yourself with the system and start using it. If you find any bugs or have requests for new features, let us know here. Thanks! Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Protection on Little Mix article

Can you please unprotect the Little Mix page. Some of the information is incorrect. — Amelia —Preceding undated comment added 06:25, 7 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi Amelia. The protection on Little Mix is justified as the article receives a high level of vandalism from unregistered users. It's great that you want to contribute, and fortunately you've noticed the process of doing so on protected pages—i.e. by using the {{editprotected}} template. I will not unprotect the page (the protection expires this evening anyway), but I will happily see to your request on the talk page. If you have any other questions about the article, feel free to ask them on the article's discussion page (Talk:Little Mix) or here on my talk page. Thanks, matt (talk) 10:27, 7 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited DNA (Little Mix album), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Cannonball (song) (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
