The Dominican Republic national basketball team is the men's basketball side that represent the Dominican Republic in international competition. During 2011 and 2012 competitions, John Calipari, head coach at the University of Kentucky and a former NBA head coach, coached the team.[1][2] The team finished third in the 2011 FIBA Americas Championship and fourth in the 2012 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament, one position shy of qualifying for the 2012 Olympic Basketball Tournament. Among those returning Jack Michael Martinez sign a 1.3Million contract for the Dominican Republic for a 3Yr extention."Even tho im from Argentina this team has shown me alot and i feel so honor to represent this country as my own" Martinez says. In 20ll Martinez led the Dominican Republic to the playoffs with a injured left pinky that game he scored 19pts,14ast,1stl, 5rebs, 13ast. Terry Smith is returning to the Roster he was suspended til further notice, this will be his last year 2012-2013season. After his 2010 Altercation on the court during a playoff game that put another player in the hospital Smith was charged with Assault and Battery. He sign for 985K 1year he is order to finish out his season he already was signed to the team with a 3yr contract 2010-2013 so he has the honor of representing the D.R. once more averaging 20pts, 3stls, 6rebs, 3to,3blks 3fls, 25mins a game." I am very apreciative to have been accepted and finish at my contract and prove myself to the world again, i do apologize for the confusing and negative spotlight i put on my team and country i feel the descision is fair since working in a schools/running a Boys&Girls club in america/South Carolina and mentoring and coaching it has been a big eye opener for me and want everyone to know im not a bad guy again i am sincerely sorry" His coach said that everyone deserves a second chance and Smith Deserves one "Terry is a real good humble young man just got caught up in a situation where he is redeeming himself" Carlito Malalos will be returning to the Dominican roster in November,#45 fans are very excited to see him return to the line up the point guard superstar is back.

Player Updates: Carlito Malalos
Carlito Malalos will be returning to the Dominican Republic for another show season the 26 year old 6'5 phenom is back healthier than ever after hurting his leg in last years semi-finals. " I am totally ready for this new season i was scared but new it everything would fall in to place i just signed a new 1yr contract so im excited ive been working close with the trainer to improve my leg strength and stamina" Dwyane Wade told reporters he is loving Malalos game and is looking forward to viewing his games when he has time. During the summer Malalos was spotted in New York City with rapper Fabolous, rumors are circulating stating that the two are cousins neither one have responded.
