* [http://www.silica-safe.org Work Safely With Silica]

Hi! I just attempted to add an important resource to the entry on pneumoconiosis. We at CPWR are a nonprofit health and safety organization, and the site was created with NIOSH funds as a clearinghouse of information on occupational health regarding silica and silicosis - a variety of penumoconiosis. What was your reasoning in removal?

Dai ling ping notability

What criteria of notability do you require as a recent google search has brought up over 7 million hits. Kind regards β€” Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.2.210.243 (talk) 11:37, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You need to make your argument to keep the article at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dai Ling Ping, make sure you have a read through WP:Notability so you know where we are coming from. Callanecc (talk β€’ contribs β€’ logs) 04:23, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection

It's been a long time since I've had to request semi-protection, and I can't remember how I did it the first time. I thought that I just had to post the semi-protection template to request it, but this must be wrong, and the process seems mezzanine. Can you link me to a page where I can request semi-protection?Ferox Seneca (talk) 09:45, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The template is to show that a page has been protected. Requests for page protection can be made at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection. Regards, Callanecc (talk β€’ contribs β€’ logs) 09:47, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is not a newsletter

This is just a tribute.

Anyway. You're getting this note because you've participated in discussion and/or asked for updates to either the Article Feedback Tool or Page Curation. This isn't about either of those things, I'm afraid ;p. We've recently started working on yet another project: Echo, a notifications system to augment the watchlist. There's not much information at the moment, because we're still working out the scope and the concepts, but if you're interested in further updates you can sign up here.

In addition, we'll be holding an office hours session at 21:00 UTC on Wednesday, 14 November in #wikimedia-office - hope to see you all thereΒ :). I appreciate it's an annoying time for non-Europeans: if you're interested in chatting about the project but can't make it, give me a shout and I can set up another session if there's enough interest in one particular timezone or a skype call if there isn't. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 10:50, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

The Admin's Barnstar
Thank you very much for taking the time to read, research, handle and reply to my Help-Me request! It was a little thing, in the grand scheme, but your willingness to treat it as important and work the issue promptly is much appreciated, and is what makes this encyclopedia great! besiegedtalk 18:28, 10 November 2012 (UTC) [reply]
  • Thank you for the barnstar! And for recognising that you may not have been neutral.
You can if you want, it would probably be the more "politically correct" thing to do, especially since I didn't do anything an admin should normally do. But I don't mind either way. Callanecc (talk β€’ contribs β€’ logs) 22:34, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't this a fork? I'm not sure what the bit about authenticity means either. Thanks, Dougweller (talk) 09:14, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like it might be a fork, and I think it'd be better included within the Mary Magdalene article. I assume authenticity means that the Golden Legend is the only proof of this legend. I'm not sure why you asked me, but if you're after a third opinion that's it. Callanecc (talk β€’ contribs β€’ logs) 10:29, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I just wanted some idea as to whether I was simply confused or on the right track, and you'd edited the Mary Magdalene article. Dougweller (talk) 14:02, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

AFT5 newsletter

Hey allΒ :). A couple of quick updates (one small, one large)

First, we're continuing to work on some ways to increase the quality of feedback and make it easier to eliminate and deal with non-useful feedback: hopefully I'll have more news for you on this soonΒ :).

Second, we're looking at ways to increase the actual number of users patrolling and take off some of the workload from you lot. Part of this is increasing the prominence of the feedback page, which we're going to try to do with a link at the top of each article to the relevant page. This should be deployed on Tuesday (touch wood!) and we'll be closely monitoring what happens. Let me know if you have any questions or issuesΒ :). Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 14:32, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Whilst Wikipedia has a policy of verifiability so all content has to be supported by reliable sources. My concern is that you were editing in an area in which you have a conflict of interest. If you review the following three pages they should provide some more information: Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide & Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest. It is best to avoid editing in areas in which you have a conflict of interest and to leave an Wikipedia:Edit request for a neutral editor to review. Formal mediation has been requested

The Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "Lie To Me (Jonny Lang)". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. Mediation is a voluntary process which resolves a dispute over article content by facilitation, consensus-building, and compromise among the involved editors. After reviewing the request page, the formal mediation policy, and the guide to formal mediation, please indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you agree to participate. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by 3 December 2012.

Discussion relating to the mediation request is welcome at the case talk page. Thank you.

Callanecc,You are a real piece of work, who are you to tell me I have a conflict of interest in this matter, as you had been told by me that I can provide documention proving what I edited on that page????You should not involve yourself with things that you have no knowledge of and allow people to contribute TRUE FACTS to pages that they do have TRUE KNOWEDGE OF. If you work for Wikipedia, I offered to provide you with documentation to prove my edit's and why you chose to make this in to a huge problem and aggravate me to the extent of posting what I did last night, I will never know, insecurity on your part I guess???mdp0007Mdp0007 (talk) 22:49, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Once again the incivility and personal attacks aren't going to get you anywhere on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is collaborative and all article content has to be verifiable. It isn't me you need to prove it to it's everyone who reads the article, so sending it to me isn't going to help have a look at WP:REFB. There is no excuse for the posts last night, I'm sorry but there isn't, and I didn't make this into a big thing all I did was leave a welcoming message which said that you have a conflict of interest and how you can avoid having your contributions undone. Callanecc (talk β€’ contribs β€’ logs) 23:02, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
For the reason you have a conflict of interest, have a read through this and this. Callanecc (talk β€’ contribs β€’ logs) 23:02, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Again,I am retired from the music industry and I am sorry that you feel that the FACT of me working as Jonny Lang's guitar tech,on the Lie to Me Tour is being considered by you as self promotion, as this was never my motive behind the edit.I was under the impression tahtI was just adding a TRUE FACT to that page and I am sorry you feel this way,but the truth stands, as that is what I did in 1997 for Jonny Lang, send me the correct upload link and I will provide Wikipedia with the letter from Blue Sky Artist Mangement proving my edit.mdp0007209.150.237.34 (talk) 23:50, 27 November 2012 (UTC) As for the incivility you speak of that is your interpretation of something that you initiated not me..mdp0007209.150.237.34 (talk) 23:58, 27 November 2012 (UTC) Also maybe you need to visit this page::WP:DONTBITE mdp0007Mark Pagliaro 05:41, 28 November 2012 (UTC) β€” Preceding unsigned comment added by Mdp0007 (talk β€’ contribs) You can now access this document at this link...http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:PROOF_OF_EMPLOYMENENT.jpg mdp0007Mark Pagliaro 06:10, 28 November 2012 (UTC) β€” Preceding unsigned comment added by Mdp0007 (talk β€’ contribs) [reply]

It would be better if you could find a source online which links you to the band (such as a news article or press release which mentions you) and then reference it (WP:REFB will help you reference it in the article).
There is no point arguing this point any further as we both believe the other is at fault, and the result won't matter very much. By the way, all you need to do to sign your posts on talk pages is to type four tildes (~~~~) after your message - that should save you a bit of time. Hi, Copts make up to less than 5 million people in Egypt, I have mentioned the latest study release from the Egyptian government which stated their number. You have mentioned that copts in Egypt make up 8 million to 15 million which is not true. Can I ask why you chose to redirect this to Bell character given that that suggestion was rejected in the discussion? Also, the target desired by three of the four contributors was Bell (a dab page) rather than the Bell (instrument) you placed a hatnote to? Thryduulf (talk) 09:14, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My interpretation of the discussion was that DGG's suggestion that it be redirected to the character article, and the only issue with that was that people may be actually after the instrument so the hatnote fixed that issue. But on rereading it I can see that redirecting to the dab page also had support and would have solved the problem as well. So I'll go and fix that now. Sorry about that, Callanecc (talk β€’ contribs β€’ logs) 11:11, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for this, it shows good maturity that you are prepared to reconsider your decisions. Thryduulf (talk) 00:43, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for creation is desperately short of reviewers! We are looking for urgent help, from experienced editors, in reviewing submissions in the pending submissions queue. Currently there are 991 submissions waiting to be reviewed and many help requests at our help desk.

Do you have what it takes?
  1. Are you familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines?
  2. Do you know what Wikipedia is and is not?
  3. Do you have a working knowledge of the Manual of Style, particularly article naming conventions?
  4. Can you review submissions based on their individual merits?

If the answer to these questions is yes, then please read the reviewing instructions and donate a little of your time to helping tackle the backlog. You might wish to add {{AFC status}} or {{AfC Defcon}} to your userpage, which will alert you to the number of open submissions. Plus, reviewing is easy when you use our new semi-automated reviewing script!
