History

2012 - Present

According to the World Bank, the population of Honduras is 7,754,687.

The first two teams started physical training in 2012. [1]


Rugby Tegucigalpa Honduras

La Esperanza Rugby Club was formed in mid 2012 by John McCourt. They were the first club in Honduras to have rugby posts on their pitch suitable for kicking conversions and penalties. They took part in the first friendly match between two different clubs in Honduras (La Esperanza vs Marcala). Their coaches are Jason Turner(Canada)and John McCourt (Northern Ireland)[2]

Pirates Rugby Club are based on the Honduran Island of Roatan. They are coached by Matthew Harper (South Africa)


Marcala Rugby Club, Honduras

Marcala Rugby Club are based in Marcala, La Paz, Honduras. They were formed in March 2013 by Lucas Nunez and played their first ever match against La Esperanza Rugby Club on 24th March 2013, just a few weeks after being formed.
