Uploader of map

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to find out who uploaded this (deleted) map.
The reason that I ask this is the image is used on our wiki and I want to make sure the license info is correct. As you deleted the image I you might be able to found who the original uploader was. Regards, Scafloc (talk) 22:53, 19 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Uploaded by User:Arbor (no edits since 2006), found to be "Derivative work of the maps included with the novels (http://www.pvv.ntnu.no/~madsb/home/read/asoiaf/maps/) Map of the fictional continent of Westeros"  Ronhjones  (Talk) 23:10, 19 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. He created the image himself and I have a statement of him releasing it. So for our wiki it is solved.Scafloc (talk) 01:15, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK, it still would not be allowed here.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:17, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Eh, it was not my intention to discuss (the wisdom of) this; your wiki your policies. Again thanks,Scafloc (talk) 22:36, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Measham Ware Teapot.jpg

I don't quite get what the problem is.
Did you follow the link through to the flickr page? -As stated in the picture's description when I uploaded it- the museum released it on that licence and "the proof" of that is on the image's flickr page -I even included the link.

Yes and click the license and you get sent to http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/2.0/ - not suitable for Wikipedia - only "CC BY" and "CC BY-SA" are the allowed creative commons licenses: "CC BY-ND", "CC BY-NC", "CC BY-NC-SA", and "CC BY-NC-ND" are not allowed. Had you taken your own photo with a phone or camera, you would have been OK - as commons:Freedom_of_panorama#United_Kingdom shows photos inside UK museums are OK  Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:12, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Collings deletion: 30 April 2013

regarding "Speedy deletion nomination of File:Michael Collings Britain Got Talent Fast Car singer managed by MIG Management 0207 291 9000 contact.jpg" this was my photo and not a copy write infringement. This is a photo we used for the single cover which Michael Collings owns. By deleting this photo with out checking if indeed it is a copywrite infringement is short sighted. Who's copy write do you think it infringed? Reply on my page please. waited99 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Waited99 (talkcontribs) 08:25, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on 2015 Formula One season, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. ...William 14:50, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

April 2013

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from 2015 Formula One season, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Click here to contest this speedy deletion and appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. ...William 22:08, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

One cannot remove a speedy from a page that does not exist. It was a re-creation.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 23:28, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You created[1] the article today. You're not permitted to remove the CSD tags. Maybe I should this to ANI since you're an administrator who doesn't think WP policies apply to them....William 00:14, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The article has already been deleted (see the logs) - I was re-creating the article (there's no rules about that), and yes I forgot to not restore the last edit, so I had to edit the text - maybe I should have deleted it again, and then undeleted - but that's getting a bit messy.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:20, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to take this to ANI tomorrow. You were not allowed to take down the G4 tag and you've evaded that point of mine not once but twice. Apparently you don't understand either WP:CSD or think that as an administrator that it doesn't apply to you....William 00:28, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Not evading the point
  • Speedy added at 14:50, 30 April 2013‎
  • Article deleted at 17:46, 30 April 2013 - the speedy was actioned and not deleted - its job had been completed.
  • Article re-created at 18:52, 30 April 2013 to allow full discussion at AfD.
 Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:22, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I CSD the article here[2]. You took down[3] the tag here in violation of WP:CSD. No intervening edits. You say you didn't create, this edit summary[4] says otherwise. The page's history[5] don't lie....William 00:36, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sadly Wrong! this does not show the edits in between them - sad, but that's the WP way. As I have said - see the logs - they show the extra edits, including the actioning of your speedy http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&page=2015+Formula+One+season  Ronhjones  (Talk) 18:41, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Another editor brought this issue up at WT:CSD, here. I personally think this is a really good argument for not using Twinkle at all, ever, but that's just me. No objections to any of your actions in this matter - I likely would have done the same. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 15:59, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm following up on the WT:CSD discussion. Were you aware of the creation protection applied to the page by User:RHaworth? Flatscan (talk) 04:33, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Have you seen this question? Flatscan (talk) 04:20, 9 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The one that says "(expires 18:33, 2 February 2014 (UTC)) (AfD decision)" - I could not find an AfD decision to lock until this date - and anyway that date appliedto 2015 would be obviously wrong, that would be far too late. He's done what I tend to do - pick a time from the list we get offered and let someone worry about unlocking it later. The key thing for any of these articles is to find some season specific data. The block delete of 6 articles was quite correct - it's useless to have an article that just says "This is the X season of F1".  Ronhjones  (Talk) 18:35, 9 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio

Hi. I saw your removed the CSD copyvio tag from the image I tagged for speedy deletion[6]. "No URL or rationale" you said. As I explained on the image's Talkpage, the image is clearly scanned from a book or magazine, and so it's not the author's own work and almost certainly a copyvio. Since it's a scan from a book there's no URL and I thought I had explained my reasons at the Talkpage. What's the problem? Cheers,  Yinta 08:07, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Update: I copied the rationale and pasted it under the CSD banner. Is that the way to do it?  Yinta 08:43, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, and it was again created - I just deleted it and protected the file against re-creation on that name.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 18:36, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unauthorized changes to the Veera Ballala II article

Hi Ron, long time no hear. I was busy with office work and then attending to my parents over the past two months as they had been unwell.

Well I came back a few days back. Well I was saddened to note that one user Mayasandra has once again violated your semi-protection of this article (Veera Ballala II) and removed edits and contributions from others including me. I do want to restore the article to its earlier purer form, but won't do so without your approval.Srirangam99 (talk) 14:21, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like they did a copy and paste of an earlier version (the IP version), I would therefore guess the IP is the same person. Reverted and placed some extra text on the talk page. P.S. It would be useful, I think, to get those extra two refs moved to in-line in one or more places, if possible.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 17:33, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Stanley kirkby tipperary record label

Hi Just what is the problem with this label? It is a picture of a record that is over 100 years old that I have in my possession and have taken a picture of. The original label design is out of copyright and the copyright for this picture is owned by me and released for free use to Wikipedia. Nor can I find any discussion to join as claimed. Please reply to my talk page - thanksRichard J Myers (talk)

Hi. Thanks for your reply. It is very old and with original design unknown and belongs to a short-lived record company. I have added the licensing you suggest for this reason as the original designer in that company over 100 years ago is not known and with regards to the US it was published prior to 1923. I hope that this is OK and will prevent deletion. I had believed that the licensing you suggested was automatically added to the image as I went through the upload process as I had to answer a number of questions - but it appears not! Is there anything else I have to do now? Richard J Myers (talk)

Not a Screenshot

Hi, thankyou for noticing my upload File:Dell Inspiron ONE 2320 AIO-PC with wireless mouse and keyboard.jpg as well as for sparing some time to inform me about the license problem, but uhm...actually I CANT FIND A LICENSE PROBLM IN IT.. you said that it was attributed under T.V screenshot was that somthing i did.?? because i always do it under the free license (recommended) thingy and the photo IS NOT a tv screen shot either, the picture is actually showing MY desktop and is not a screen shot..so, what should i do about it.?? How can i prevent it from getting deleted.?? I'm new to wiki so i dont know how to change the attribution to free work, entirely my own work thingy, I did not understand a single other word from your message....what is CC-BY-SA or OTRS pending..?? could u make it clear for me please.?? o---Andrew--o 06:18, 6 May 2013 (UTC)o---Andrew--o [[7]] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andrewthomas310 (talkcontribs)

OK, we have 4 items here
  1. The overall photo - you have given cc-by-sa
  2. The product - has minimalist logos and probably can be ignored
  3. The screen picture - looks like that belongs to Microsoft to me (http://free-download-windows-8-themes.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/caribbean-shores-theme.html) - and it's too much area of the overall photo to be ignored.
  4. The different program icons - same as (2)
I doubt very much if you can get MS to give you a full release. Suggest put an image you took yourself as a background and retake the photo.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 18:55, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well,..Thanks,..I'll do as you say... :) -- o---Andrew--o 20:01, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

Moderator Intervention Required

Hi Ronhjones, some of my contributions to wikipedia pages are just being reverted without prior notification by user User:Abhishek191288. I added a statement in his User_talk:Abhishek191288 talk page, and there was no reply from him. He has started to revert every contribution of mine ever since then. I request the moderators to look about this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MrEccentric (talkcontribs) 06:37, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is obviously a content dispute - we have a nice procedure at WP:DR to assist you in resolving the issues.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 18:59, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of erroneously created redirect page

Hi, I need an unused redirect page that I have renamed to a temporary name deleting, so that its original name can be used in a page that actually has content. This is a complicated story, which I can relate if you are an administrator with the privilege to do this. Piotrus who I normally give these kinds of requests to does not have delete privilege (yet). Can I request deletes from someone like yourself? Richard J Myers (talk)

As long as it's a valid delete, and does not lose some needed history - or you can add {{db-g6|rationale=reason}} and get a quicker result.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:05, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Stalking and retaliation by Beyond My Ken (talk)

This user is blatantly stalking me and articles I have edited (which he/she never edits) based immediately upon and following an argument we had on the Rose Hill, Manhattan article which he/she was proven wrong. He/she also actually scratched out a cite-needed tag in that process. Please ban Beyond My Ken (talk) from Wikipedia or at least please warn them not to stalk me.173.63.176.93 (talk) 06:07, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You put a photograph of Midtown Manhattan skyscrapers on a number of articles about ethnic Americans, with a caption about how many people of that ethnicity live in New York City. Unfortunately, those ethnic Americans don't live in mid-Manhattan skyscrapers, and primarily live in the outer boroughs. That makes your photograph doubly inappropriate. Before we ever tangled on Rose Hill (Manhattan) (which *you* had never edited before, and where, frankly, you behaved like a WP:DICK)), I had earlier removed the same photograph from Azerbaijani American for the same reason. In looking at your edits in the wake of your dickish behavior, I saw that you had done the same thing for other articles, and, of course, I removed it from there as well. If you want to add information to those article about the number of ethnic Americans who live in New York City, that's fine, but inserting an inappropriate and deceptive photograph in order to introduce the information in a caption is a really bad idea. Beyond My Ken (talk) 06:23, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Stop stalking and retaliating against me and vandalizing the articles I edit. Don't tell me what to do, either, and stick to your own Manhattan articles. The image is simply the best representation of the metro area and there is nothing wrong with that AT ALL. You're also deleting captions and references without justification. Let the admin address your raunchy behavior in the meantime.173.63.176.93 (talk) 06:35, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please, lisen to me: YOU DO NOT NEED AN IMAGE TO INTRODUCE THIS INFORMATION INTO THE ARTICLE - Just put it in the article. It's data, it doesn't need a deceptive photograph of midtown Manhattan skyscrapers. Beyond My Ken (talk) 06:38, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I'm stopping, because you've graduated from being a dick into being a total asshole. Your edits to these articles are not improvements, they are deceptive and misuse images as icons rather than illustrations. I hope never to cross paths with you again. Beyond My Ken (talk) 06:44, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No, I think you've finally just gotten the sense knocked into you that the Manhattan images simply reference the reader to "New York," not "skyscraper". The captions below say it all in (most) of the pictures clearly.173.63.176.93 (talk) 06:48, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Bullshit. Beyond My Ken (talk) 10:48, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If two people are editing the pages based on a certain geographical area, they are bound to fall over each other. I's not stalking. It's just a content dispute(s) by editors with dissimilar views - we have a nice procedure at WP:DR to assist you in resolving the issues if you wish. Just remember to avoid WP:3RR. But if it's not that important, then just apply the stick method - knowing that in 6 months time, a host of other editors will have changed the page one way or the other - the joy of Wikipedia - edits are not for life, especially with popular subjects. None of the pages I've done looks remotely like what I put.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:05, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
