Rebar Jaff

Could you also delete the Talk:Rebar Jaff page, as the parent page is gone? Thanks in advance. --Ezeu 00:19, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that out, I thought it was already gone. -- Zanimum 01:13, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Kate

Hi Ezeu, I was wondering why you undid my changes to the Kate page without any explanation. Most pages pertaining to a personal name have a section of famous people by that name. Neelix 16:00, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

See this Wikipedia listing of articles about people with Kate as a given name. It would be a bit much to start adding them all to the disambiguation page. She is listed on the disambiguation page for Booth, which is more proper. --Ezeu 16:30, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Irish- dark skinned

Irish people are in fact quite the opposite. They are fair skinned and generally tall. They are a distinct ethnic group within the Aryan group of peoples. They are most closely related to the modern day Scottish and French. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kyuky (talkcontribs) 6 April 2006 (UTC)

A laugh a second

"Scottish and French" - I didn't know there were many blonde Irish people. Did you really flee the LRA? Should I laugh or cry? And what's up with the pronunciation of "Lurds resistance army?" Zyxoas (talk to me - I'll listen) 18:06, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

Hello Zyxoas, yes I fled from them. I really should have stayed away from that "white Irish" argument. --Ezeu 18:34, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

!Kung

Hi! There's a suggested merge between !Kung and the Bushmen and I saw your comment there. As I understand, the !Kung are one group within the Bushmen but have their own language and society. I would be inclined then to give them a seperate article but give the Bushmen article an edit to have a section on the !Kung. Remember, Wikipedia is not paper, so we should feel free to keep it granular and have some overlapping data. Do you have any strong objection to this? You clearly know more aobut Africa than I do, so I will cede to your opinion. Avraham 20:08, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

No, I do not hold a strong opinion on the issue, and my knowledge of the !kung is limited. My thought was that it is better with one good article that two sub-standard ones. --Ezeu 20:33, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

Comments regarding Juba

Pls do not violate your right to edit pages. I see that you have altered vital and factual information on Juba, Sudan.

I know this history well, as this is my city.

Thanks,

GG

Give a reference to back your claims of Greek influence in Juba, and your edits will stay. Asserting your knowledge of the town is not enough. --Ezeu 16:59, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

I will do this in due time. I have spent all my life there and I was not expecting someone from Uganda to come and question me. If you keep vandalising Juba I will have to do the same and question Uganda I am afraid... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ghines (talkcontribs) 11 April 2006 (UTC)

When your edits are questioned, you reply by providing proof that you are right. Making silly threats merely stengthens my suspicion that you are a hoaxer. --Ezeu 17:26, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Things

Hi there. I bet you don't really know me, but you've been showing up on my watchlist and around for a bit now. First, let my say thank you for your wonderful contributions. A little appreciation is often sorely missing from the atmosphere here. I particularly think your Uganda and Africa related work is a great service for Wikipedia. Second, I'm wondering if you would let me nominate you for adminship. I think you would be a good candidate. If you haven't considered it, the info page is at Wikipedia:Administrators and I'll gladly answer any questions you have about it. The only real requirement or qualification is good sense. Tell me what you think. :-) Dmcdevit·t 22:41, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Thank you very much for the encouragement. Adminship is really tempting, but I am really enjoying being a regular editor. --Ezeu 23:03, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
Hm, I'll respect your opinion, but let me just point out that many administrators do mostly article work. The tools are still helpful in moving over existing pages, rolling back the odd vandal or blocking the odd vandal or protecting the pages that you watch when they become the subject of vandalism or edit wars or what have you. It doesn't entail any real responsibilities. In any case, always be sure to contact me if you change your mind (perhaps by email if you want to be discreet about it). Keep up the good work. Dmcdevit·t 06:43, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

What languages do you speak (Luganda etc)? Fancy a bit of WP:NOR violating? Zyxoas (talk to me - I'll listen) 18:50, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

Hello! Anybody out there? "I speak the language of Silence very well" is not the answer I was looking for, or is this some Zen exercise?... Zyxoas (talk to me - I'll listen) 07:55, 18 April 2006 (UTC) May Fo bless you.

I speak a little Luganda. What WP:NOR violating? --Ezeu 13:42, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

A little Luganda? I meant Luganda as an example. What languages do you speak fluently? I'm going to ask you to translate a few phrases to test the language, but you'll need to be fairly fluent to translate some of them 100% perfectly since they are meant to detect very subtle grammatical properties which most 2nd language speakers might neglect. Interested? Zyxoas (talk to me - I'll listen) 19:23, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

A little Luganda and a little ....? Sorry about that! Zyxoas (talk to me - I'll listen) 19:32, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

I can only translate to and from English and Swedish. I am astute in one Western Nilotic language, and streetwise, but not fluent in a Luganda and Kiswahili. Excuse me for being vague, but you are being rarther vague yourself. What do you want me to do exactly? --Ezeu 19:56, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

You are now nominated. You'll need to go indicate acceptance and answer the questions. One you've done that, add the {{Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Ezeu}} to WP:RFA. Good luck. Dmcdevit·t 02:37, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

.js simplification

I was looking through some of your old contribs, and I happened to notice you monobook.js had a section for "Force edit summary". I'm not quite sure what that does, but it reminds me greatly of the "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" option (which was added a little while ago) in the "Editing" section of preferences. You might want to look into that; would simplify your .js and reduce unreliability. --maru (talk) contribs 03:01, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

I'll check it out. --Ezeu 09:43, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

Juba was established and built by Greeks in 1923

I would like to draw your attention on the vandalism which most probably came from you in this article. Juba is of high importance to me, as I have lived all my life there (compared to you) and pls do not alter the text with non-sense. If you have any queries, pls feel free to contact me BEFORE altering the text as it is annoying. Thanks —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ghines (talkcontribs) 24 April 2006.

We have been through this issue before. Please read "When to cite sources". --Ezeu 22:20, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

It is an independent country, which should be admitted to full membership of the British Commonwealth along with the Hutt River Province Principality. - (192.190.108.19 07:41, 2 May 2006 (UTC))

Your comment, I suppose, is in reply to what I said at Talk:Coins of Somaliland. Somaliland has many (possibly all the) characteristics of an independent country. It may be so that it should be recognised internationally, but it is not. Whether this is unfortunate or not is a matter of opinion. Fact remains that Somaliland is not recognised as an independent state by any country. Yes, it covers the same area of territory as the British Somaliland Protectorate (as you noted at Talk:Coins of Somaliland), and Somaliland's government has released statements stating that Somaliland's borders are recognised by the African Union and the UN, but that is not equivalent to the region being recognised as a country. Comparing Somaliland with Hutt River Province Principality makes me believe you just intended your comment be to be humorous.--Ezeu 15:51, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

Ezeu, Somaliland's declaration of independence in 1991 was based on the fact that it was briefly independent in 1960. Its union into Somalia was supposed to be voluntary, but things went downhill after Said Barre took over. Therefore, it qualifies for British Commonwealth membership. I am sure that [the website of the Government of Somaliland] has information outlining its case for recognition. As to the banknotes of Somaliland and the coins of Somaliland, they will eventually be listed at [The website of the British Commonwealth Numismatic Project].About the Hutt River Province Principality, I was not joking. - (192.190.108.19 06:40, 4 May 2006 (UTC))

Better late than never

Fantastic, so now you are an administrator! I would have come earlier, but could not on account of my sickness from 3rd April to 24th April 2006 resulting into my wiki-absence. I convey my congratulations to you on your elevation as an administrator, and wish you all the best! Have you ever seen me around? I am just curious! --Bhadani 15:26, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the info

Hello Ezeu, Thanks for the info about creating sections, that you put at the end of my article on liposuction. Unfortunately (for me), someone beat me to it. Before I could do it, someone else did. Never mind, it's done, which is the main thing.

You live in Sweden, born in Africa, and have lived in Wales and Australia!! I think that's the most exotic combination of countries I've ever heard of one person living in. I'm Australian, from Sydney, but I live in the US now. I remember going to Carmarthen when I was a child living in London. There was a castle.

Congratulations on your beautiful awards! Pinkgalah 04:12, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. The people of Carmarthen were very hospitable. Wouldn't mind going back there sometime soon. --Ezeu 18:56, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi -- I noticed you prod'ed this article. I marked it for speedy deletion (CSD A7). Speedy deletion is preferable to prod when it applies, at least, I think so. Mangojuicetalk 05:56, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

RfC

Hi, just FYI, User:Dr1819 (the Male unbifurcated garment guy) is apparently trying to bring an RfC against you for deleting his article. Rather incompetently, though. See Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Ezeu, if you're interested. Looks like a case of WP:SNOW, if you ask me, but I just thought you'd like to know. Fut.Perf. 10:29, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for informing me. --Ezeu 10:33, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Dee Patterson

Could you tell me why you redirected Dee Patterson to the Fear Street page? They are not related and by setting up this redirect you could be misleading people to a page.--Dleav 03:27, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

The discussion that led to the redirect is at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dee Peterson. But you are right, it shouldnt redirect to Fear Street.--Ezeu 05:14, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Question

Ezeu,

Two quick things; firstly I wanted to thank you for helping to maintain the Wikipedia Site, and in particular, the Bob Marley section. You have done a very good job, and I hope to see, and assist in the growth of this area.

Secondly, I am the webmaster of Thirdfield.com, a fan site that a friend and I created in 1999, which has blossomed and taken on many functions, and a broad base of fans and associates.I recently attempted to add my site to the category, and found that it was no longer there when I returned. Whilst I am new to the Wikipedia editor functions, I am curious as to what might have gone wrong?

Hopefully you can assist me!

One love,

Thirdfield 18:25, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

simon@thirdfield.com

Links added by someone affiliated with the website, unless it is the official site of the subject of the article, is usually frowned upon. Proclaming the site as "The Largest Bob Marley Fansite" and putting it prominently, before all other links (except bobmarley.com) looked to me like the behaviour of someone attempting to promote a website, rather than improve the encyclopedia. I will not remove the link again to avoid edit warring, which could lead to one of us being blocked per the WP:3RR rule. We can use our time to improve the article instead. --Ezeu 20:50, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
I appreciate the explanation. It appears someone else has already deleted the link again :( . I can also appreciate the unknown, but this site has been in existence for 7 years, and promotes the same values that this area on Bob Marley does. We often refer to the immense value of wikipedia in our forums. As for having affiliations I can clearly see how that would interfere with any unbiased addition, so I will not re-add the link, and simply continue to add to the information on the site, and hope that at some point, someone will re-add the thirdfield.com link seeing it's value to wikipedia users.

Thank you for the assistance, and courteous manner in which you approached it.

 Thirdfield 13:23, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

I'm don't want to second-guess you, but isn't two days a bit short before closing the Afd on the above article as a non-speedy keep ? -- Hirudo 02:34, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

You are absolutely right, I happened to miss that it was relisted. It should have been removed from the May 22 log and put into the May 28 log. I am reopening it. --Ezeu 02:41, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks -- Hirudo 02:42, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi Ezeu,

Just wanted you to know that I removed the May 22 AfD log from Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Old. It's definitely very confusing, considering that we also have Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/old. :-P --Deathphoenix ʕ 18:04, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Yes, it is somewhat confusing. I'm still trying to get a hang of the AfD nitty-gritty.--Ezeu 18:15, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
No problems, a lot of people do that. Oh, now that I think of it, I'm not sure which way is correct, but when relisting an article, I noticed that you remove it from the AfD log page. I don't know which way is correct, but I copied Johnleemk's method, which is to comment out the AfD and note the date to which it is relisted, so it looks something like this (assuming that you relisted the following AfD on May 30):

<!-- {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Example}} Relist May 30 -->

Like I said, it really doesn't matter, and the end effect is the same, but that's just the way I've seen one AfD veteran do it, so I've been doing it that way as well. :-) --Deathphoenix ʕ 21:07, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
So thats how the others do it. Thanks for the tip.--Ezeu 21:13, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

One minute please

I'll source the info in a second though... Working on archiving my talk page. Why not just put This article needs help citing sources etc. It is a real episode and the info is important. ForestH2

Because that article has gone through the AfD, and AfD decisions must be respected. --Ezeu 23:38, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Having trouble with my computer. It goes blank and then comes back up. Don't want to mess anything up. Now it's up. Check the note I added on the page. ForestH2
