Had to smile at the photo of the son with LBJ. Yep, that's the way it was, every draftee such as myself got to meet with LBJ in the Oval Office before shipping out. Yeah, sure.

John Steinbeck's stay in Bruton

John Steinbeck stayed and wrote in Bruton, England for some months in 1959. According to an exhibit in the town's museum, he was enthralled by Arthurian legend and began but did not complete a retelling of Thomas Malory's 'Le Morte d'Arthur'.
