Whirlwind Recordings (WWR) is a London, UK-based independent record label focused on original, creative music, with an emphasis on improvisation. The label was founded in 2010 by bassist, composer, educator and producer Michael Janisch.

Whirlwind Festival

In October 2013, WWR launched its inaugural Whirlwind Festival, curated by Janisch. The festival ran from October 10-12 at Kings Place in London and featured 20 bands with over 86 musicians. Many of the concerts were recorded on video. Performers included Andre Canniere, Mike Gibbs, Robert Mitchell, ESKA, Michael Janisch, Aruán Ortiz, Romain Pilon, Norma Winstone, Nia Lynn, Logan Richardson, Alex Garnett, Patrick Cornelius, Rachael Cohen, among others.[8][9][10]
