Shahid Mallya is an Indian singer who has sung in various films.[1]

He hails from Punjab but was brought up in the city of Sri Ganganagar and moved to Mumbai with his family in 2002.

He can sing in various Indian languages. He has sung mostly in Hindi and Punjabi.

Career

Initially performing playback singing for Indian TV serials, Mallya debuted in Bollywood with the song "Gurbani" from the film Yamla Pagla Deewana.

His big break came when his friend, lyricist Kumaar, recommended him to Pritam, who had him sing Rabba Main To Mar Gaya Oye and Ik Tu Hi Tu for Pankaj Kapur’s directorial debut Mausam. Both songs went on to become very popular and Shahid started getting a steady flow of playback singing offers.[2]
