Raees (English: Wealthy) is an upcoming 2016 Indian crime-drama film directed by Rahul Dholakia and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Gauri Khan and Farhan Akhtar under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment and Excel Entertainment.[2] The film stars Mahira Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead roles.[1][3][4]

Plot

The film is set in 1980s Gujarat. It tells the story of the eponymous bootlegger (Shah Rukh Khan) whose business is highly challenged and eventually thwarted by a police officer (Nawazuddin Siddiqui).[5] The film criticises the prohibition of alcohol, prostitution, and drugs in Gujarat.[6]

Filming and development

Shooting of the film began in April 2015.[2] The film has been shot in Mumbai and sets were re-designed to depict Ahmedabad slums.[7] The last schedule of the film with Khan and the whole starcast will be shot in Gujarat in January 2016.[8]
